  1. Any talk of contraction is a non-starter when we know the MLB is really looking to expand. Does anybody really think prospective owners will want to pay the MLB's desired expansion fees fresh off the heels of multiple franchises completely folding? Especially when multiple other leagues are talking about expanding, anyways; baseball isn't anywhere near the juggernaut it used to be to make someone want a team in a league that looks less solid over an NBA or even NHL team.
  2. It's just a pun, it's not that serious. Teams make name-related puns all the time; "Sens-sational", "Beleaf" and the like. It's an anniversary logo, you kinda want to have some fun with it. And "fang" is an easy word to both play on "fantastic" and tie into the team identity.
  3. Ah, yep, found it on an eBay listing; it's a vintage New Era cap. The jacket is proving much more elusive, but presumably it could also be New Era.
  4. Snooping around, I found some hats which have this same logo on it; So maybe it was just a merchandise thing the team had at one point?
  5. So, the response from Tampa after Cooper's benching....was that they just got absolutely annihalated by the Canes; they lost 6-0 and got outshot 38-14.
  6. "X team stole design trait from Y team" has to be one of the most overused and unhelpful critiques one can make, honestly; uniform branding is essentially just fashion design. People will inevitably use the same concepts and ideas as others if they work for the brand of the team, that's literally how design trends propagate. Black worked for the Kings and Raiders, so a whole gaggle of teams either used black for a while or permanently switched to having black as a core identity color. The Expos and Oilers used powder blue and that became an iconic look, so a bunch of other teams followed that trend. The Rangers popularized diagonal wordmarks in professional hockey, UCLA popularized shoulder striping on football jerseys, etc, etc.
  7. Preds released their 25th anniversary logo;
  8. Charlotte is bringing back their 90's look for their 90's Night;
  9. Cleveland has revealed their Outdoor Classic jersey;
  10. You call a city not spending tons of public money on billionaire playgrounds "incompetent", I call it "good sense". Besides, we've known for a while that MLB wants the A's to off to Vegas for that moolah. They're just saying they want to keep the team in Oakland because they want to appear diplomatic and turn ire against the city for not bending over backwards to appease them. Hell, I doubt Vegas even wants the A's with a publically-funded building; they just shelled out for the Raiders not too long ago, and it's not like everybody's welcoming the idea; Phil Ruffin nixed a deal that the A's were trying for.
  11. I imagine they'll probably also end up teasing a new throwback-styled alternate for next season on the official reveal like Carolina and San Jose have both recently done for their own 25th and 30th anniversaries, respectively. It makes far, far too much sense to do, and you can use that as a test balloon for a rebrand as well. But yeah, anything super major like a full-on rebrand would absolutely be waiting until the offseason to even be teased, let alone properly announced.
  12. The problem with Brantford is that it's already surrounded by OHL teams; it's in close proximity to the Storm, Ice Dogs, Rangers, Generals, Knights, Steelheads and especially the Bulldogs. I dunno if there's even room in that area for another franchise to try and root itself. The entire reason the Bulldogs are going to Brampton while FirstOntario is being renovated to begin with is that it's only half an hour from Hamilton.
  13. If the Wild do move to North Stars-style branding full-time, they need to use the 80's-90's version with the added black. You'll get more sales with new designs than just promoting the RRs to full-time status, since most people with those won't double-dip on identical jerseys where the only real difference is the inside of the collar;
  14. Welp, the Niners are boned lmao It'll be extremely hard to overcome all those injuries, especially against the Eagles.
  15. What an embarrassing showing from the Blues tonight lmao
  16. Woof. I think the Canes' jersey is fine, but the Caps one is pretty bad. Their idea of "futuristic" is just "make the Weagle logo on the front huge and put some stripes on the bottom"? Seriously?
  17. Honestly, the Yotes third looks pretty nice. Feels like a blend of the 03-07 jerseys with Kachina branding and a retro-styled wordmark. The only thing I might change is filling in the cream on the top and bottom of the stripes to make them pop a bit more. But otherwise, this kit looks pretty slick as an alternative look, almost like a look into a world where the Coyotes came about in the WHA;
  18. It's humorous that the teams in the NHL and NFL most notorious for playoff futility both wear blue and white as their main colors.
