  1. Seriously, their originals are friggin' great, it's so weird that they've never gone back to that look. Especially since, y'know, they won a Stanley Cup wearing it.
  2. Being a Sacramento Kings fan must be suffering on a level very few pro sports teams can manage.
  3. As an owner, actively :censored:ing with the finances of other owners is, like, the line you don't cross for any reason. Leagues don't take kindly to that kind of :censored: at all, so if this has legs then Snyder might be in big trouble. Especially in the NFL, where making money is everything.
  4. Snyder broke the golden rule; don't ever :censored: with the IRS, because they WILL come at you for it.
  5. The only reason the foot was there in the first place because their original mascot was a yeti named Howler. But Howler hasn't been a thing for the Avs for like two decades now; he was retired in the early 2000's, and their mascot since 2009 has been Bernie the St. Bernard...so the foot logo no longer really ties into their branding at all; hence why they got rid of it to begin with. Besides, the shoulder C's are a nice little homage to the Hockey Rockies, as well, and you could also say it's like how the Nordiques had the provincial symbol of Québec on the shoulders of their jerseys, too, if you want to tie into franchise history.
  6. From bad to worse for Vegas; they may have just lost both Howden and Patrick for a while; and with Patrick's injury history, who knows what this means for him.
  7. I feel like this might be prophetic in some way, but I don't know how.
  8. The thing it comes down to really is that sports is a business, and literally no business on the planet is going to turn down earning even more money. It's just how capitalism works as a pillar of society; and unless someone manages complete social overhauls, it's not exactly going to go away any time soon. For better or worse, sports teams exist to make money for owners. The question is when diminishing returns kicks in, and I think we'd hit that point for the NHL long before we get anywhere close to Euro jerseys; because we have an example of an American league that has no care for jersey aesthetics to show that it just isn't so valuable at this level to make coating it worthwhile in the NBA, who have still been stuck on single small ad patches even though they've had them as A Thing(tm) for years now.
  9. It'd be so Browns to lose Baker for a guy who never touches the goddamn field. And to think, they wouldn't have tanked the goodwill they'd been building had they just not :censored:ing gotten Watson in the first place. God, the Haslams are :censored:ing stupid.
  10. Vegas gets shut out by Winnipeg, Dallas beats Edmonton and leaps into WC2 in the West. 'Ya love to see it. And Winnipeg ain't very far behind Vegas, either, so they might pass the Knights if they keep trending down like this.
  11. Honestly, the only part I find really not good about them is the black. If that was green, I'd actually like them well enough; they'd still be mediocre, but at least they wouldn't be dipping into BFBS. The idea of a double-sided jersey that looks different depending on which side is facing outwards is actually pretty neat, too; I just wish it'd been applied to a better concept than this.
  12. So, uh, how about that Dadonov situation lmfao
  13. The Browns and making terrible decisions, a tale as old as time. If this doesn't work, they are F-U-C-K-E-D for a while.
  14. I mean, the Peace Tower has been a part of their identity before, since it was the shoulder logo of the black alternates that they wore in the 2000's; so that is still a connection to their modern look. And I disagree on it being strong enough to be a primary; by the very nature of being a wordmark, it isn't a strong primary logo. A strong wordmark, sure, but wordmarks and logos aren't interchangeable, and no team in in the NHL should have a wordmark as their primary logo (which is why I wish the Caps would bite the damn bullet and just adopt some kind of eagle logo as their primary already). It's been 30 years of this same overall identity, though; there's too much history and memories behind it to just dump it entirely. In fact, I'd argue the modern look has overtaken the Silver Seven look as far as being the definitive brand identity for the Senators: it's certainly stuck around for a longer period of time in the NHL than the O, anyways, and the looks that stick the longest tend to be the most definitive. The Silver Seven really only has the Cups at this point; but if you have to cite Cup wins from over a century ago to justify a brand change, you've already hit a bit of a snag...because the casual fan won't have nostalgic memories of guys like Frank Finnigan or Jack Darragh wearing the O to all those Cups; they'll have memories of things like Kravchuk dumping the top-seed Devils, Van Allen winning their first ECF game and Phillips forcing a Game 7 against the Devils, Danny Alfredsson sending Buffalo home in their run to the Finals or Hoffman forcing Game 7 against the Penguins, all of those in some variation of the modern identity. Identity and branding is crucial to teams, and the look they've had since 92 is just more branding-friendly than the O. I think it'll be on alternates, but as a primary logo I just don't think the appetite's there from the FO for that exact reason; it's not as marketable.
  15. Might the Senators be introducing a new wordmark logo for their 30th anniversary?
  16. Vegas is really about to fall out of the playoffs, aren't they?
  17. Honestly, fingers crossed we get a Fisherman of some kind for it. I know there's people who hate that jersey, but like...it's basically the only even somewhat not-awful historical alternative design the Islanders have, so I'd have to imagine they'll do it for this kind of milestone.
  18. Vegas continues to crash and burn with a 6-4 loss to the Blue Jackets, putting them on a 4-game losing streak and a record of 3-7 in their last 10 games, Vancouver close behind with games in hand. At this point, I think they legit might spiral out of the playoffs entirely, they look so bad.
  19. LMFAO, the Vikings are trying to sneak an unpopular move in under the Tom Brady news
  20. It makes sense, since a "T" by itself would probably be considered indefensible and too generic. The "Arenas" part makes it more defensible.
  21. Brady's like a cockroach, no matter how dead you think he is he keeps coming back lmao
