  1. Toronto dunks on Tampa 5-zip in Game 1, holy :censored:.
  2. I'm sorry, but the pylon orange jerseys are absolutely not the best uniforms the Oilers have ever worn; that's a take ripe for the Unpopular Opinions thread. The only time that those colors worked has been on the alternate, and that set is still pretty damn mediocre, all things considered; meanwhile, the home jersey looks like someone barfed Dayglo all over the team's jersey and the road looks more black than blue with how damn dark the navy is. There are teams in the NHL, like Seattle or Columbus, that pull off navy blue very, very well. The Oilers are not one of those teams; they should've just kept their look the same like other teams did in the transition from the Reebok template to the Adidas one.
  3. It's been a darker red and blue since the 1999-2000 season, yeah. Using TruColor, the current shade of red has a hex value of #A6192E and the previous has a value of #C8102E. Same with the blue; since 1999-2000, it's been #001E62 when the previous was #003087.

  5. Vegas also benefited from Florida completely :censored:ing up the expansion draft, as well; which is what gifted them Smith and Marchessault.
  6. Ownership prefers the orange, IIRC. And from what I've seen, most fans are fine with either color scheme being used as long as the original logo is back in the primary position.
  7. It's the Draft Lottery, remember, it's almost inevitable that last place doesn't get 1OA lmao
  8. The Coyotes won, though, so it all balances out.
  9. VEGAS LOST TO THE FRIGGIN CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
  10. Dallas beats the Knights in the shootout and now need only one more point to clinch a berth in the playoffs and eliminate Vegas, who has to win both games and hope Dallas loses both in regulation. Of course, considering Dallas closes the season with home games against the Coyotes and Ducks while Vegas goes on the road to play the Blackhawks and Blues...
  11. Imagine forcing your injured goalie to be on the bench instead of letting him get surgery just because of cap implications lmfao
  12. The gold set looks so ugly that it only really works as an alt; I'd hate for them to replace their good-looking home set with that gaudy mess. Especially if it also means the :censored:ty gold domes come with it.
  13. If you honestly think the MLB would rather contraction than relocation, that's on you. No major sports league in 2022 is going to want to say "Hey, you know what we need? To fold teams and lower our own value as a collective because we have less teams than the competition!" If there's any change in the MLB, it's 100% through expansion or relocation. Folding isn't an option, especially coming out of the lockout they just had; the last thing MLB needs to look right now is unstable. The owners don't care about that; they care about having those teams around because it helps boost the league's value by having more markets represented. Folding teams means you're losing a market without gaining anything in return, which nobody at the top likes; it's why relocation is so much more common, because a team moving markets is more palatable. It's the same reason the NFL hasn't pulled the plug on Jacksonville and the NBA hasn't pulled the plug on Sacramento, despite both franchises being colossal :censored:shows from top to bottom; sure, the teams suck and have for years, but having them around helps prop up the league's media deals and merchandise profits.
  14. Yeah, because I've basically never seen a Weagle-front jersey concept I've actually thought was made better from the Weagle's place as primary; it's got way too much negative space to work as a primary logo when combined with how tall and wide the logo is. The Weagle works as a compliment, it looks fine on merchandise, but as a primary logo used for media graphics and all of that, it's kind of lacking. There's a good reason the Caps limit the Weagle's usage to where it actually works; as a shoulder patch, as a media graphic and on merchandise. If anything, I think going for the Screagle would make a better primary decision since it has the right weight for a team's primary logo. Also, it'd defeat the point of Reverse Retro to just make a Frankenjersey of elements from all over their history, anyways; there's stretching the definition and then there's just not actually bothering with it and just making an alternate because you didn't feel like trying.
  15. Apparently Pittsburgh really can't go without at least one of their football teams being a joke on the management front lmao Who cuts a guy for what he eats? As long as it doesn't impact his on-field performance, that shouldn't be a thing you worry about.
  16. I hope the trainers get their pound of flesh out of this ordeal, but man the Flyers are REALLY not having a good season for PR or on-ice product lmao
  17. I get why they'd do the Screagle again; their first run with the red Screagle jersey proved super popular, and a lot of people wanted a new Caps jersey in that mid 90's-2000's color scheme; so taking the Screagle design and doing one with the original colors of that era instead of the current colors makes perfect sense from a marketing standpoint.
  18. Clippers gonna Clip lmfao Of course it'd be them that loses their playoff chance to a team that was on pace to be the worst team in NBA history earlier this season.
  19. Fenway Sports Group owns the Pens, and there's nothing stopping them from doing a Boston WC again in 2024. Most likely they chose to host it in Fenway Park for a reason. Besides, Boston is one of the league's biggest and most profitable markets; why wouldn't they choose to have Boston host the Winter Classic both here and in 2024? Go where the money is, and the money for events like this isn't really in the small-mid tier markets.
  20. Columbus doesn't have the kind of pull Boston does from a marketing perspective, and Seattle's only just come into the league; it'd be a bit early to give them an outdoor game when there's teams that have been around for a while longer and haven't had one, like Florida or Tampa. It also doesn't help Columbus' case that the only venue they could really use for an outdoor game is Ohio Stadium on top of being a pretty small-market team in the grand picture. There's a reason that outdoor games go to the markets with the most pull (ie: the biggest ones); those tend to have the biggest venues and the most opportunity for making money.
  21. Looking at TruColor, they have the same shade of red listed (#C8102E), so I don't think that's it, unless we have a Dallas situation where the official shade doesn't match the actual jersey fabric. I think what really throws it is that Carolina emphasizes black more than white as the secondary color on the home, unlike what CHI and NJ do where black and white are more even. So it just looks darker as a result of white not being as prominent.
  22. I'd assume it's the PC version of 04, since that's the one with the most notable modding scene.
  23. Eh, I like the black pants. As much as I love the '06 set, it being so red dominant was one of the few things I've never found particularly good-looking; hockey uniforms tend to look best when the pants contrast with the jersey or socks, especially if they lack striping. Like, imagine the Rangers' home and road jerseys but with blue pants. Sure, it more closely matches the hierarchy of the jersey colors...but it also just kinda looks worse? Of course, there are some exceptions like with anything, but frankly with how common red/black/white is as a combo in the NHL, it's hard to really make a unique look with them.
