  1. Good move on the A's part. Becoming a lame duck Oakland team for four years just for TV money was a bad way to go. They are now far from the cavernous coliseum and the boycotting fans. (what I am about to say should not be taken as some sort of defense of fisher, et al) Oakland government's propaganda about this whole situation has been funny to me and crazy how many people are swallowing what they're putting out. They have been remarkably unserious about the whole thing. An example of this is the deal they just offered to the A's, which included a stipulation that they would be given an expansion team... a thing that the Athletics or John Fisher have no power to give them. Why was it in their deal then? Because Oakland's current government needs to play 100% victim and look good to their constituents. Anyway, now that this is really real, I'm pretty sad.
  2. I love white caps! And to my knowledge no one else has a pinstriped hat right now
  3. The Royals situation is not dire. Kauffman is a great stadium. They are not going to relocate anywhere. All that will happen is they come back again with a different proposal. The catch-22 I see is that people who will say that the Royals don't deserve this because they aren't competitive, yet in my opinion they need a stadium that draws more revenue to become more competitive.
  4. Very roughly speaking, when the National Basketball Association was created the National League was as old as the NBA is now.
  5. Can someone explain the Hub City model to me? I looked it up and couldn't find a good explanation.
  6. I like the Royals and Pirates from this era.
  7. Also I know it's stupid but a team named the Reds should have one uniform that is just all red (hat, shirt, pants, socks, cleats)
  8. I liked this concept you shared in one of your threads.
  9. The KC Chiefs and Royals stadium tax is up for vote today. Expected to be close as polling had either side within margin of error (+/- 6 apparently). Chiefs want to renovate Arrowhead Stadium and the Royals want to build a new ballpark downtown. When the Royals move, Chiefs have plans to demo Kaufman stadium and do If passed, it would simply implement the same tax they've had in the area since about 2006, a sales tax that was originally used for some renovations. If the vote fails, you'll likely see Chiefs and Royals come back in two years or so with a different proposal. As a fan of KC sports teams, I've been really impressed with the Royals' downtown stadiums plans. I think it would be a good thing for the team and would help them be more successful as a small-market team. Like it or not the suburban stadium they play in is just not very compatible with modern economics.
  10. Oakland does not own the "Athletics". While the end result I'd like to see is Vegas getting expansion and A's org staying in Oakland, the A's name has survived three cities and goes back a century. No reason it should stay in Oakland. A lot of money. I think most of their corporate sponsors are from there.
  11. Why would you have so many color pallets on an NFL team?
  12. I think realistically, you're not going to see any big four Vegas team embrace any gambling-related identity. It's too controversial. Same reason the A's will never do anything like the concepts people were making with the dice on the hat. However, this site isn't real so I say go all in!!! Who cares. I personally like the Spades logo, your Dealers uniforms are really good (like the four suites on the side), and Dealers is a pretty cool way to make a name that's Vegas related but also basketball related.
  13. I like the Mariners and Marlins. Mariner's jersey is reallly good.
  14. I'm of the opinion fans should be excited about division titles, conference/League(in baseball) championships, team high records, rivalry series wins, etc. Assuming everything is equal, your team is only going to get a ring every 30 years...if that.
  15. This is a situation where outsiders will say this but no one who actually roots for the team feels that way. So is the consensus on the Jazz savannah banana era that it's mostly a failure?
  16. Diamondbacks rebranded in 2007: I actually don't think it was that bad a look, in fact I think it was a clean design, but it could never live up to their previous look which has definitely been cemented in baseball history through the legend of Randy Johnson and the 2001 world series. So that original look looms like a shadow over the team in a way the Rays old look never could. So they tried to bring stuff in like the teal highlights and snakeskin patterns, trying to have it both ways. Basically the last 8 years have been gradually simplifying things, and I think they've finally found something that, barring a change to the original colors, is a good look for the team: -no corny "D-BACKS" script -we settle on red and teal, -the main identity is the A on the left breast, as it should be.
  17. Just realized this was covered on the main site. Here's the pictures from the main site. I think the bright green grass is a look that's really good for the Rays.
  18. Snakes are good. Not Dodger good, but they weren't a fluke last year (lucky, yes, but that's not the same thing). They're a young team with some legit stars, and they got better this off season. Their team was perfectly built last year for the new rules (they're very speedy) and MadBum being awful made their record look worse than it actually was IMO. NL West has four legit playoff contenders right now. Should be a fun division to watch.
  19. No sport owns Easter cuz it moves. You don't have the "all families inside, during the cold" aspect of Thanksgiving or Christmas or NY day. I'm Christian and so remembrance of the resurrection isn't something that leads me to want to celebrate the day with sports. Obviously everyday sports like baseball are going to have games, which they should but I can't see it being a special draw to anyone who places significance on the date, and for those who don't as much, it's just another Sunday. Not a three-day weekend. Mothers' Day and Fathers' Day would be more interesting to talk about, since Father's day totally should be something baseball can capitalize on.
  20. Not a uniform change, but aesthetics-related, the Rays changed the artificial turf at Tropicana field and it looks much better to me. Apparently it performs better too but for watching on TV makes the place brighter and more colorful. The clips I saw from opening day were looking pretty good.
  21. I bet it has an apple on it somewhere. What the... so dodgers will be playing in blue? Weird.
