  1. In light of the recent news regarding the death of CFL legend Larry Highbaugh (RIP), here he is in his early years before he embarked on his legendary Edmonton Eskimo career, as a BC Lion.
  2. Mookie Wilson, the hero of the 1986 World Series for the New York Mets, played the last three years of his career as a Toronto Blue Jay.
  3. -and- They may be the right team for both Glen Suitor (top) and Ray Elgaard (bottom), but they are in the 'wrong' uniform as they only spent their first seasons in the final seasons of the Saskatchewan Roughriders' "double-stripe" jersey set (also note the wrong number on Elgaard; that's a pic from his rookie season, 1983; the same can be said of Suitor who came along the following year, before the Riders changed up their look in '85).
  4. In addition to the "Flying-V" jerseys from 1978-85 for the Vancouver Canucks, I like their replacements, worn from 1985-89:
  5. Here's something jolting: Dwight Gooden, Houston Astro, in 2000. In fact, he played for three different teams that year, his last in the majors (the other two were the Tampa Bay Devil Rays and a sceond stint with the Yankees).
  6. The weird coincidence about the Rams/Patriots matchup is both teams changed their uniform sets in the 2000 season.
  7. One of the greatest Toronto Argonauts ever, Paul Masotti, spent his rookie year of 1988 in the last season of the 'football boat' uniform set. Their best set and logo ever, IMO.
  8. -and- For two teammates, and in honor of Bagwell- two 'Right team, wrong uniform' entries.
  9. Well, the 2002 matchup was sort-of a one off, if that you notice that the Lions' facemasks in that 2010 matchup are black, as opposed to the 2002 one where they're blue.
  10. The Jack Morris one is also wrong as he's without his famous mustache.
  11. The first photo is from 2000, the only matchup between the current Patriots (their first year in that style) and the pre-black Detroit Lions. And this one-off occurred on Thanksgiving 2002, with both teams wearing their throwback uniforms (incidentally, this was the last season before the Detroit Lions incorporated black in their color palette).
  12. No game pics, unfortunately, but 1992 marked the only time the classic "Pat Patriot" New England Patriots met the black-helmet Atlanta Falcons.
  13. vs No game pics, but that same Archie-era Saints uniform set met the Seattle Seahawks famous 1980s set for one game in 1985. (Year three for that Seahawks set, and the last for the Saints in that getup.)
  14. http://media.gettyimages.com/photos/wide-receiver-jerry-rice-of-the-denver-broncos-battles-the-defensive-picture-id53445268 Although he was only there in the preseason, Jerry Rice in a Broncos uniform is also awkward to see.
  15. This matchup only occurred in 1988; only time the red-helmet Falcons met the 1988-2006 Chargers look.
  16. This matchup only occurred in 2003- the last year of the 1997-2003 Bengals set, and the second year of the Seahawks Reebok look.
  17. Another video clip, heading north of the border, 1996 featured the last year of the classic Hamilton Tiger-Cats look and the first year of the Edmonton Eskimos modernization.
  18. http://media.gettyimages.com/photos/quarterback-dieter-brock-of-the-los-angeles-rams-looks-to-make-a-play-picture-id89751240?s=594x594 For you CFL fans, here is forever Mr. Blue Bomber, here is Dieter Brock in his one season in an L.A. Rams uniform.
  19. vs No game pics, but these two uniform sets met for only two times in one season- the 2002-03 season.
  20. One of Gordie Howe's sons, Mark, who is best known for his years with the Philadelphia Flyers (and his early years in Hartford alongside his dad), playing out the string with the Detroit Red Wings.
  21. ^ Man, the grass at Foxboro Stadium looks crappy. It looks more suited for cattle ranching! From 1996, the only time the Carolina Panthers met the classic Pittsburgh Steelers with their block numerals/names; they oughta bring that style back, on that note. http://media.gettyimages.com/photos/oct-1997-defensive-back-thomas-smith-of-the-buffalo-bills-tackles-picture-id1793258 And, the next year, the new Nike-engineered Denver Broncos met the Jim Kelly-era Buffalo Bills uniform set for the only time.
  22. http://s135.photobucket.com/user/cdnuniguy/media/Nordiques/sakic88.jpg Mr. Joe Sakic is forever Mr. Avalanche (and before that, the face of the Quebec Nordiques); so this is a "Right team(ish), wrong uniform(ish)" entry: This is him in his rookie year wearing #88, before donning the more familiar #19 in Quebec.
  23. Carlton Fisk's time with the Red Sox is best synonymous with the much-maligned pullover jersey/beltless pants combo they sported in the 1970s, so it seems a bit odd seeing Pudge wearing the more traditional-style Red Sox uniform. So, this is another "Right team, wrong uniform" entry (much like when he was with the White Sox wearing the 'disco style' and current uniforms the team wore).
  24. Kirkland also spent one season with the Seattle Seahawks prior to that.
  25. Here's another "Right team, wrong uniform" entry: Rod Smith, the great Broncos receiver, spent his first two seasons in the Orange Crush Broncos set, which happened to be the last two years of that set. To me, he's best known for the 'Nikefied' look.
