  1. with as spread out and sparce as most of the TX / southwest metro areas are, IDK if Dallas has two "centers" of population that are spread enough for two teams, or if it's more like one giant (area wise) metro area, in which case I don't think it'd make sense. Two solid population bases that are dense enough yet separate enough could be conditions for two teams, a single large-but-dense base also could work, and maybe a couple of other relatively-odd cases. But it's moot, because existing teams wouldn't allow it. What's the last place that actually tried? Toronto with the Legends (I think?) and how did the Leafs react to that?
  2. While there'll never be another multi-team market in any of the 4 major sports, it could be. Or could have been, had someone moved while the Phillies were down, especially if they moved to one of a few specific areas. Even nowadays, if the Phillies can start another multi-year sellout streak, with SRO playoff tickets in the $1k range, it wouldn't be outlandish in theory (though getting buy-in for a $1B stadium would be a non-starter, either in the city locations or non-city ones I'm thinking of). A population base of 6M could support two teams. That 6M is much more dense than the 6M in almost any of the other large markets outside of the top few, so a very different 6M than Dallas' 6M, Phoenix' 5M, etc., where a good number of that is like a million miles outside of the city centers and doesn't have much (if any) mass transit.
  3. But how many programs have stayed on top after legendary coaches left? Florida stumbled after Spurrier left, Nebraska (checks sports-reference) stumbled some, but eventually was OK until they weren't, Alabama took a dump when Gene Stallings left, etc. You can be born on 3rd base, but you still have to score. Far more have been thrown out at the plate than have scored.
  4. I don't either. And I can't believe someone is complaining about literally 1 post per week... when their complaints consume more posts than what they're complaining about. I love seeing when games are broadcast in seemingly random areas and trying to figure out why.
  5. Since he doesn't talk about it and doesn't make excuses, it's hard to know exactly when Hurts' injury occurred. But according to Jeremy Fowler, it was another Met Life Stadium injury. Knowing the outcome, I'm glad they played him, but with the absence of that info, I would have considered giving him a second bye week and treating the KC game as a "scheduled loss". He took off his brace last week, but he's messed up - and will likely be so for the rest of the season. His lack of threat has contributed to their formerly-dominant running game basically stalling the past few weeks.
  6. I don't think anyone's name should tie them to a particular career. Two notable examples: there was a guy who's actual name was Repo Man, who, after a successful career as a repo man (duh), decided to be a wrestler but kept the name. There was also a guy named Irwin R. Shyster, who wanted to be a tax accountant, but also ended up being a wrestler. Come to think of it, the only examples I can think of all relate to wrestling. So basically, your name can limit you to two careers - one that matches your name, or professional wrestling. Your name limits you to either raiding villages and plundering (which is what I assume you do for a living), or this: (don't ask me why a Nordic Viking wrestler is posing with a Japanese businessman): (this is how I imagine you do your posting, just with grayer hair:)
  7. I kinda wish they had a Madden+Summerall combo patch. I associate each with each other, and while I get why they link Madden to Thanksgiving more, I still consider both of them part of the experience.
  8. I'm thinking a more accurate analogy for a blowout game would be a car race where the leading car is one of the ones that shoots oil out of the back of it and makes the trailers slip and spin out so it wins handly.
  9. Why do they call it that? Can't boat races be close? I've never competed in one, but I imagine it's just like any other race.
  10. For college kids. Professionals should look a little more formal than 19-year-olds that were dressed even worse in high school just a year or two before. NFL players should look a little more formal than what you see at flag-football rec-league game. Socks aren't critical to the uniform, but we've already seen pants turn into shorts, t-shirts below the ass, and eventually these dopes are going to look like they're wearing long tank tops and nothing else. Players had been getting fined for their socks long before the Saints decided that they'd go out of their way to look as bad as possible. Merton Hanks' job was 90% about socks. Players are basically just going to want to do whatever you tell them they can't do. If you made the rule "your legs must NOT be covered", then these dudes would be like "you can't tell me what to do!" and they'd start wearing socks. Heck - it might even turn in to a competition for who can have the coolest socks.
  11. Seattle's defense is full of gutless cowards. The 1st quarter isn't even over, and they've already decided that they're not only going to stop tackling, but they're not going to even touch the 49ers. I can't remember seeing guys just seem so disinterested in making contact or putting forth an honest effort. It's one thing if you're just not good enough. It's another thing if you decide to check out. Never thought I'd ever say that about a modern-era Seahawks team.
  12. If this season was replayed 10 times, in at least 7 of them they’d be 5-5 or 6-4. They keep saying “we haven’t played our best game yet” but it’s week 12. It’s true that good teams make their own breaks and figure out how to win when everything’s going wrong, but that doesn’t work against the caliber of teams they’re playing in this stretch (save for the KC game, and I still have to check the standings every day just to confirm that they somehow won. )
  13. Just realized that this is the first time I’ve had a rooting interest in all three Thanksgiving games. Unfortunately I’ll be driving during the night one, but should be able to listen to it. Also just realized that the Eagles, already struggling to win games, have to play the 49ers after they have a mini-bye, and then Dallas, also after a mini-bye. I don’t think there’s any malice when it comes to scheduling (other than KC having 17 home games), but that’s a tough break. Can’t see them winning either of those games.
  14. That would be relevant if I said that it guaranteed anything.
  15. I don’t think it’s even remotely possible but it’d be cool for the A’s to play a gap season in Phila, though they’d have to share CBP
  16. 2023 records of NFC contenders vs. winning teams: 4-0 … Eagles 3-2 … 49ers 2-1 … Seahawks 1-2 … Lions 1-2 ... Vikings 0-2 … Cowboys
  17. A thick orange stripe (or two thinner ones) running vertically from neck to cuff on top (sans TV#) and the same on the pants would improve that look.
  18. We're just going to send it to the XII, so one of the 20 something members can analyze it. The analysis consists of not only a lab test, but a sniff and taste test. Sorry for which ever of the XII draws the short straw, but it must be done to protect the integrity of the board. I'm sure you understand.
  19. Find, we'll send our pee to PO Box 27 Pueblo CO 81012
  20. Eagles learned that in the Super Bowl when Quez Watkins dropped an easy pass that would likely have gone in for a TD. Good players catch balls in clutch situations. You need 3 good receivers. Eagles have 2 + an injured TE. Chiefs don't seem to have any besides their TE. This blows my mind. He's a fantastic player when he's not hurt (like he currently is) and doesn't have a total loser calling his plays, but yeah - he just wins.
  21. OK maybe I'm sending my pee to Infrared. Either way, the Chiefs are far better than the Eagles. Far better. The Eagles have the talent to turn it around, but if they've made it this far in the season and past the bye without figuring it out, and this is where they are, they're F'd. KC, Dallas, Baltimore, SF, and maybe DET are better. A complete joke of a 9-1 team. They make a complete mockery of the notion that "it's hard to win games in the NFL". Screw them. I'm really starting to hate this team. Not the actual players, but the overall team and how they're coached. Disgraceful..
  22. They're bad. How can anyone watch this game and think the eagles are a good team. Sure, they have games where AJ Brown is unstoppable, but their OC is completely overmatched against competent DCs. Now there's a critical borderline personal foul, and KC is on their way. If you think the Eagles are winning this game. I think you may be in violation of the CCSLC Wellness Policy. Send Infrared41 a urine sample right now.
  23. As the Eagles are showing tonight, they should be 5-4, not 8-1. This performance is confirming what I've been afraid of. They could easily finish with only 12 wins (mostly because their last 3 games are against JV teams), which isn't going to be enough. And what really pisses me off is that it's mostly coaching. OC, DC, and STC blow. Like... really blow. You can't waste talent like what they have, and that's what they're doing. Some players are underperforming, but the coaches have to account for that. This is completely embarrassing. EDIT: though not as embarrassing as the dogs doing the chop.
