I'm tired of this "Mr. Irrelevant" stuff. At least the guy was drafted. There's plenty of undrafted QBs that have had solid careers - even star careers. How aren't they less relevant (at the time) than "Mr. Irrelevant"? Seems like a stupid thing for the media to refer to refer to the guy as. Is this any more interesting than if Stafford was playing against an undrafted guy? Probably not, but you wouldn't hear about the latter.

For people picking games, know that 3 Eagles defensive starters (including two in secondary) are out with either concussions or on IR, and their lead RB is also out.

Yesterday was a great example of why my scheduling proposal should go into production asap. There shouldn’t be any division games in week 1 while teams are still working out kinks and in some cases playing together for the first time. with 17 real games, playing starters in preseason isn’t that great of an idea since the players already think there’s too many games (but not too many dollars). Frankly, other than the obvious problem of a team starting 0-1, I wouldn’t read much into yesterday’s results (except maybe the Giants because lol).

Was there anyone who wasn't a Giants fan that didn't think that this was the real Giants? I can't put into words how ecstatic I am that they gave Daniel Jones so much money. Thinking about the Giants short-term future has the same effect on me as I imagine eating an entire box of Blue Chew would.

"statement losses" are just things that fans make up to have an excuse to have optimism for next year. Like when you fool yourself into not worrying about a hitter in an 0-30 slump because he's "having some really good at bats that just aren't resulting in hits". The Eagles looked like a team that shouldn't have sat out the entire preseason after replacing both coordinators. The play calling was down-right baffling. I didn't expect as much of a drop off on offense due to losing Shane Stieken since the replacement was internal, but holy balls does Brian Johnson look like a complete moron. And so does Siriani for not recognizing that the team might actually need a preseason game to work out some kinks.

I don't recall seeing game day graphics like this from the Eagles before.

I feel even stronger now that they should do the schedule so it's something close to this: First 3 games: interconference next 3 games: intraconference next 3 games: division round 1 next 2 games: interconference next 3 games: intraconference final 3 games: division round 2 I know with bye weeks and London it's very difficult to actually do that, but it lets teams work out the kinks in less-meaningful interconference games, before playing more meaningful intracconference match ups, and then super meaningful divisional games.

I don't get why players get a vote considering that a high percentage of them won't be on the team next year, and an even higher percentage won't wear them more than one or two seasons. I'm not one that usually does this, but this sounds horrendous already. Just like with the AZ Cardinals, the home and road aren't going to be simple recolors, which with very few exceptions, should always be the case. If you have 4 (or 5?) looks, then you don't have a look. That's not good.

I don't see the issue at all with Coach Prime. Things don't have to be the way they've been forever. Not every coach has to instruct (or look) like Knute Rockne. Not sure how many other coaches came into a job with a brand already bigger than the school they're now coaching, and I haven't yet read about anything he's done that's objectively wrong (like a scandal, poor coaching decision, etc.) I also don't think Sanders was wrong in his post-game press conference.

The only chance of success is if they could get Franklin Field, because then you'd grab casually-interested fans (like me) from the city, and it'd at least be in a vibrant area and maybe some local bars could run XFL specials (idk... dollar off a beer if you show your ticket? Just spitballing.) The Linc is a wasteland for anything that doesn't have lots of tailgating associated with it. I can see it from the roof of my house and I'd never go down there for a game, because that's literally all there is. At least with Franklin Field, if you get bored, you're in the heart of University City. Union park is a bad idea. At least the Union / soccer have a die-hard fanbase. No way anyone from the City would drive to an XFL game, and I doubt many would take any of the mass-transit options just for XFL. And again - that's your whole day. There's no easy bail-out solution. Penn has a lot of spring activities at Franklin Field, so I'm not sure if it would work (I haven't checked the schedules to see how much overlap there is) - but IMO that's the only chance of XFL succeeding in Phila.

In general, a pinstriped uniform shouldn’t have any extra flair. Definitely no cuff or neck trim (sorry SD), and no racing stripes. It’s just too much and kinda defeats the purpose of having pinstripes. At least the Phillies was just a single fat stripe, but it didn’t even match the color of the pinstripes till the very end.

I’m not sure if it’s fair to call Temple a dumpster fire anymore, it’s just that they keep switching coaches every time they have a good season and one leaves (ex. Al Golden, Matt Rhule). Temple pays between $2M-$3M per season to play at the Linc, so they won’t be evicted till those checks bounce.

Can someone explain to a non-college sports fan why those two schools were so unattractive to any of the major conferences? Is it just on-field performance? Or that they’re not worth anything from a TV market / revenue standpoint?

No way that would have been approved or not resulted in a law suit. It's one thing to use the colors (and even that might be risky), but another to basically use the Oilers uniform and slap a new logo on it. Also the wordmark is too big... at least for an NFL uniform. I guess it's fine for college.
