Thaumatrope Posted January 12, 2017 Share Posted January 12, 2017 Does it bother anybody else that the Dallas Mavericks use a horse in their logo when the term technically refers to unbranded cattle? I realize it's far too meta (and silly) but in light of the origins of the name, wouldn't it make more sense for Dallas to not have any logos or wordmarks on their jerseys? Maverick has come to take on the meaning of someone who defies convention because Samuel Maverick refused to follow the convention of branding his cattle.
