Spring Football Concept: AAFL Project

OK, here is the very early vote total:

3   Detroit & Atlanta

2   NY/NJ and Chicago

1   Dallas

That is 11 votes so far, and 5 cities all in contention (well, actually all 7 are in contention, but 5 have gotten votes so far.)

And here is some enticement for various locations:

DET:  Expect at least 1, maybe 2 identities based on the auto industry or cars in general.

CHI:  I have 1 identity which will align really well with Bulls, Bears, and Cubs.

NY/NJ:  One identity is based on one of the state's most famous topographical features.

ATL:  Two white helmets are in the mix

DAL:  Expect the return of at least 2 designs from the Houston vote, Texas being Texas and all

OK, Mid-Afternoon numbers:

7   Chicago

5   NY/NJ

4   Detroit & Atlanta

3   Dallas

Still very much in debate across these 5 cities.  I am ruling out Miami and Los Angeles, so we will stick with these 5 cities and see if Chicago can pull away or if they will get closed on by one of the others.   If no team can get a 3-vote lead, we will close the polling tomorrow morning.

The threshold has been lowered to three vote lead to call the race from a 4 vote lead to achieve an artificial plurality?  Maybe there should be rank-choice voting to achieve an actual consensus pick?  What's the rush, it's not like there is a submission deadline for an actual paid project.  I'm just curious if you thought just letting everyone vote via the polls only section like this example: IFL Expansion Teams, (the poll from the corresponding classic CCSLC HOF project)

That way the tally is done for you and closes at the date/time you specify and you get lot more individuals engaged in the voting process, and we can get an actual horse race (e.g., Juice v. Snowbirds) instead of getting the feeling someone is putting their thumb on the scale when suggesting the current leader pull ahead. (current example whipping the votes for Chicago)  It's more of a beauty contest masquerading as an unbiased participatory democracy.  You can still stoke the community's interest without tipping the scales.
