No! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!!!!

*calms breathing* :D

I came up with an idea like this in Geometry class a month or so ago, probably in between naps.   Thief!  :;): I actually thought while I was watching PTI today that I would make a Niners NASCAR cross-over today. That looks so much like my Niners idea it's scary...

On a more serious note..that's awesome. Only suggestions I could offer is maybe put a name across the back of the suit, so it looks like a jersey. Nice job!

very interesting and out of the ordinary, but cool nonetheless.

crossing teams over to nascar I imagine would be relatively easy with a good template like you have here. mainly because you really dont have to worry about editing the logos to fit the sport

Both the concept and the real thing look pretty nice. That's a really cool crossover idea. Good work everybody involved. Look forward to seeing more of these in the future.

This is supposed to be run by Christian Fittipaldi at Watkins Glen.

I should have guessed these things were really being done ... it seemed too easy.

(I'd thought about doing a Yankees car too, but the design just posted is almost exactly what I was thinking of, so there isn't any reason to do it now.)

...

As for the templates, they are slight modifications of some I found on-line.

The car templates come from http://www.fivestarbodies.com/9_0.html ... (They have several makes of cars, plus racing trucks, too!)

The firesuit templates come from http://www.racesuit.com/extreme/mto-design.pdf ... (This site also has side views. I didn't think it necessary to use them.)

Finally, I never could find a helmet template, so I found a good side view of a helmet and traced it. It was simple enough. If you go to http://www.thebellstore.com/Auto/ultra.html, you'll find a good side view of a helmet (if you click on "side view".)

If anyone wants my modified vectorized version, I will be happy to send it. I'm not going to post it anywhere, nor do I have a bitmap version.

By the way, if you want to see what the sponsor decals on the car are, go here:

(cut and paste)

They are appropriate to the crossover, too. (Not just auto parts and oil, like real NASCAR.)

STL Fanatic, you are welcome to explain some of them if folks don't get the significance.

Guys this actually happened. Kenny Wallace drove a Cardinals car at the Busch Series race in St. Louis (Gateway). I'll look for a pic.

BTW good job.

'tis true.  I was there.  In past years, the race in St. Louis (actually it's Madison, IL, just across the river and up the road from the second-tier strip clubs  :P ) has featured a car sponsored by Starter sportswear that had Illinois Fighting Illini logos on it.  Another time Sterling Marlin's kid drove a car with Univeristy of Tennessee markings on it, including a checkerboard pattern (like their endzones) on the hood.

NASCAR in general has been pretty good about doing crossovers.  Bobby Labonte once wore a different crash helmet every week and each week it was painted to resemble a different team's NFL helmet - usually a team closest to the track where he was racing.  And since his team is owned by Joe Gibbs, he once drove a car painted up to resemble a Redskin helmet.  I believe he did this the weekend Gibbs was inducted into the Hall of Fame.  Also, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. has driven a car with a MLB All Star Game theme.  Jerry Nadeau drove an Atlanta Braves themed car when Turner Broadcasting sponsored his ride.

I couldn't make out Hunter and TWIB before, nice inclusion. And, long live the MOX! :)

I hadn't noticed before the City of St. Louis seal on their either, nice touch.
