zer0dotcom
awesome if true,I heard this morning he was very close to signing elsewhereall those years of cheering for a losing team, and sticking to a set plan of action are starting to pay off
pcgd
If true, congrats. I had very mixed feelings about him signing with the Cardinals. He's got so much upside but 10 million a year (both teams offered it, the Jays guaranteed an extra year) is alot for a pitcher with a losing record. The cardinals (although in better shape than the BJs) have a very hard salary they have to keep withink (92 mil) and 10 million would have taken up more than half of what's availbile this year.Either way I was happy. I'd be happy to have him and happy we don't.
Cujo
Nice move for the Jays. Too bad their next move can't be to leave the AL East or they might have a shot at contending sometime soon.
Neon_Matrix
Well Boston will no longer have Manny and their bats may be at the same level as the Jays, so we have a chance to jump them because our pitching my become the best in the East. We'll see what happens about their bat needs... Because Korbyn Is Colour Blind, My Signature Is Now Idiot Proof - Thanks Again Braden!!Go Leafs Go! Phil
All the talent the Jays are adding I find tends to be guys with losing records elsewhere. Now that alone is not the be all and end all stat, but it is interesting to note that people foresee them moving up in the winning column because they're adding guys with more Ls to their name. That said, go Blue Jays!In addition, go "The Falconer intro at Blue Jays games"! This coming from the guy who said the Jays had no chance of signing Burnett, Ryan or Giles. Two out of three.Assuming Chacin has another stellar season the Jays now have the best pitching in the AL East... rotation and bullpen... hell it was pretty much the best in the AL East last season too.Our offence doesn't match up, and that's our only weakness right now... expect a couple of deals to be made during the Winter Meetings, Batista will likely be sent somewhere for a power hitter -- I keep hearing Batista+ to Texas for Mench, as well as prospects to Milwaukee for Overbay. We don't have the best team in the AL East, but we've got a good enough team to make a run, and hope for the Yanks and Bosox to show signs of weakness again in 2006... we smelt blood in the water in 2005, it's time to make our move. --- Chris Creamer Founder/Editor, SportsLogos.Net "The Mothership" • News • Facebook • X/Twitter • Instagram
pcgd
apparently talks have slowed. I kept hearing he was giving the cardinals a window to match/add a fifth year.I also heard the cardinals upped the offer to 4/48. Just to keep everyone in the loop. Again, I'm not going to jump for joy either way. I guess I'm only excited in the fact that it seems st. louis has a plan if this signing goes down. And it would be interesting to see how all the holes got filled. But if they pay AJ 10 mil next year, that means they have about 8 mil to find a second baseman, 2 outfielders, a back up catcher, and a few bench players.Plus, here's their trade bait: Marquis, Weinright (prospect), and King. Can't see anyone jumping all over that, except maybe all three for one outfielder from Cincy or Tampa.Anyway, tomorrow is another day.

Hey that doesn't look half bad! Let's see those concepts people! On the Jays message board, someone made some concepts of him pitchin in the jays colours. They just took pics of him pitchin in the all balck uni's and just in a plopty way put the jats logos over it. The Jays must have some cash and I will say they are spending it wisely (or smarter than the Red Sox and Yankees have done).I hope Burnett does well.. I kind of have mixed feelings too..But i would be bummed if the Cards spent $55 million for another 15-15 pitcher.I have big hopes for Reyes. Also they need a lot more (like a second baseman and an outfield!)
