Pharos04 Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Found this while snooping around the Super Bowl website and thought it might be of some interest due to it's similarity to the actual Super Bowl XL logo. is Windsor doing like some sort of co-op thing with Detroit to promote the Super Bowl in Canada?I placed the SB logo next to it to show the similarities
BRice16 Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Yea, its just across the river. I'm sure a ton of their hotel rooms are being used for the Super Bowl. I know that the University of Memphis stayed at a hotel in canada when they played in last month's Motor City Bowl.
spyboy1 Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 The best thing about Detroit? Windsor, Ontario! It's like having an employee discount for the entire country, Dr. Disc is a great CD store, Cuban cigars and... <looks both ways> ...the "adult establishments" are quite memorable for the "entertainers". Not to mention your chances of being murdered are about 100% less.JeffB Click here to read Third String Goalie - The Hockey Jersey of the Day Blog Click here to see my hockey and baseball jersey collection online ?You don?t like to see 20 kids punching 20 other kids. BBTV Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 My roomate and I hit Windsor during my Soph. yr of college. I can't think of a better place for two 19yr old guys to spend a long weekend. illinirox1 Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 My British uncle came to visit last year and we spent a day in Windsor. He told a story about the Queen visiting the town and looking glumly at the many "Windsor Ballet" establishments. On Windsor's main drag, there's a spot where it looks just like the Ren Center and Detroit's few nice parts are part of the Windsor street. The Queen allegedly looked hopefully ahead and said "I had no idea Windsor was such a big city!" Then some poor guard had to tell her that they lost that bit back in the 1700's. hhh Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 I have been to Windsor. There is alot of viceful stuff true, but the City is very nice takes a bad rep.
winghaz Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 Sounds like Windsor, Ontario, is a great place to drink Windsor Canadian whiskey. Now, why isn't there a drunk smiley face? I could have used one there.

Proc Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 Great thread...brings back many good memories of going over the border to Windsor.Windsor Ballet = Strip Clubs. And momma, they are the real deal.Labatt Blue...Molson Canadian -- What to drink at the ballet.Legalized prostitution -- Well, I never went that route, but hey, whatever floats your boat.Bridge vs. Tunnel to get there from Detroit -- I've always been a fan of the tunnel. All in all, Windsor is a great city. Its full of passionate sports fans too that are divided between the Red Wings and Maple Leafs (the Leafs prob get the nod due to nationality, but there are a ton of Windsorites at The Joe for Wing's games).Great bars -- is it still 19 to drink there? Man, that was fun.
Guest robpas Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 Great bars -- is it still 19 to drink there? Man, that was fun.Yep...still 19
spyboy1 Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 Bridge vs. Tunnel to get there from Detroit -- I've always been a fan of the tunnel. That tunnel looks like the set from a disaster movie where you get trapped underground and have to fight your way back to the surface. I'm always afraid of getting stuck in there and having to team up with Bruce Willis to make our way to freedom. VitaminD Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 I'm also pro-Ambassador Bridge versus tunnel crossings. Do they still give out the scratch & win cards when crossing? I haven't been over the bridge in 6 years. No one has mentioned another reason to love Windsor: WINDSOR CASINO.I need to increase my interest in ballet, it seems... "Start spreading the news... They're leavin' today... Won't get to be a part of it... In old New York..."In order for the Mets' run of 12 losses in 17 games to mean something, the Phillies still had to win 13 of 17.
illinirox1 Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 Yeah they still give out those cards... But what can you buy for 75 cents a duty free store? Put Your Hands up For Detroit (our lovely city)
Guest robpas Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 Yeah they still give out those cards... But what can you buy for 75 cents a duty free store? Actually, 50 cent coupons...99.9% of them are 50 cent, that is. I did scratch a $10.00 winner last year...used it on a cheap bottle of whiskey at the Ammex, lol...
