cyandlux
I havent posted a concept in over six months but this morning this was really bugging me so I had to get it out of my head.My original idea was to take one of the ABA franchises and make a more professional looking logo. But I was very uninspired by the nicknames. So I took a team that I felt had a strong logo before they were bought and made an intirely new design. I incorporated a more northwest native feeling, rather than the racist one they currently have.Watcha think? C&C as always.
ZBoyer
Not bad, but they're the Sun Kings. You should capitalize the K and throw the bit of space in there to break it up.
Dilbert
Also they are the Yakama Sun Kings. The Yakama Indian tribe bought the team, and changed the name from the Yakima Sun Kings to Yakama Sun KingsNice concept though Signature intentionally left blank

Kilomile
I know but the city is YAKIMA...they dont play at a tribal casino they play at the Sundome....in YAKIMA. and the Jets play in East Rutherford. The "Tampa Bay" Lightning don't play in the city of Tampa Bay. Just Tampa. That dosen't matter though, because New York Jets and Tampa Bay Lightning are both the team's names. Jimmy!
Nice work. Something about the red triangle between the "K" and "I" is bugging me. Maybe "Yakima" is too close to the sun, I don't know. cyandlux
wow i really like this...hmm wonder why... Thats funny, because I was actually thinking of yours in a way, but the inspiration came from a box that my parents recieved salted salmon in and it was decorated with different drawings....no sun though.A capital K would ruin this...any suggestions on how it could work? Actually, I think he really likes it because he practically lives there. But if you want to make the connection between a logo that he made and one you just made and have to try to defend yourself as to where you got the idea, hey, that's your choice. andrewharrington
"Man, those pirates sure gave that ship a good sunking." One word confused me, I'll be honest. I would separate it better. BrianVlietDesign
Improvements? Looks okay, but I like the first logo better. NYCFC - MLS CUP CHAMPIONS - 2021
myartsaywhat
I like the improvements with less colors, but my biggest problem is the use of the NW Coast look. Yakama's are Plateau Indians not NWC. Its a different culture region and they didn't really use that style of art. They did trade with the Natives on the west side of the Cascades, but they were more influenced by the northern Plains tribes.Off my historical soap box... I do like the improvements. cyandlux
Shoot, I did minimal research....I had a box...is that research? So, to all you aspiring designers out there this is a lesson to do your research first!!! That should always be job #1.Well, I did some reseach, real hard to find Yakama art, and found out its like your run of the mill "Indian stuff". So, Im actually going to keep working on this design even though its wrong.

Your design is native inspired, by your rationale, how is it NOT rascist considering you're not native?Apparently rascism is a term defined at your discretion.I don't find either logo offensive, but I shake my head at your definition of "rascist".
