There Name is not for a Bird ( even tho thats the logo they use now ) its for the color of there Jerseys & they have been the Cardinals for more then 100 years .. so dont change that now . If they were going to they should of when the team first moved to arizona in 88 .

Care to bet on that?

Claystation is 100% right - the Cardinals team name came from the color of their uniforms, which were originally secondhand stuff taken from the University of Chicago (the Maroons).

If you don't believe me (or Clay) still, would believe this excerpt from the official website of the Arizona Cardinals?

In 1901, the team gained longstanding identification when O'Brien, finding a bargain, bought used jerseys from the nearby University of Chicago. The jerseys were faded maroon in color, prompting O'Brien to declare, "That's not maroon, it's Cardinal red!" The club's permanent nickname had been born!

Now, onto the logo. In short... NO. Isn't this the 2nd time you've foisted this upon us? The existing logo + a poorly-drawn outline of the state of Arizona in the background is not creative, it's not well-executed, it's not novel. It's incredibly sloppy. Please let this go.

"Start spreading the news... They're leavin' today... Won't get to be a part of it... In old New York..."

In order for the Mets' run of 12 losses in 17 games to mean something, the Phillies still had to win 13 of 17.
