Interesting find on MLB.com

So I was searching the shop on MLB.com, just to see if anything new might be out. I went to the Cooperstown Classics cap section and discovered that they are now selling the mid 90's red-billed alternate and road grey Pirate's caps. Sadly they did not have the O's or Royals grey road caps from the same time period. Any idea why they would bring back these two caps for sale after only being gone for less than a decade?

They're crappy too. American Needle makes some horrible looking hats. Sure the style is similar to the old cap, but the low profile just kills it. I hate how that company half asses everything.

I would say it's one of two things. McClatchy (I think) is the one with a boner for the color red and they are rumored to be incorperating more of it, so maybe they wanna push it...or since they are black and gold, people maybe wanna get this off color of red??? Personally, I hate red in their scheme and you can still find the authentic red billed hat around town and on some websites...usually at a discount too.

I'm actually surprised they don't have it. They have some other hats, like the orange B one, which was only worn for one season. I think (but I'm not certain) I've seen some of the grey ones sold around here. If you ever go to Camden Yards, they might sell one outside of the stadium or in the Sports Legends Museum store (right next to the stadium).

Also, is that 1901 hat real? I've never seen it before, I've just always assumed they wore plain hats back then:

Never saw one at Sports Legends, and they had a great selection of Orioles throwback hats. I'm not sure there is a "throwback" of the 90's hats, anywhere.

If that gray one ever came back as a Cooperstown hat, I'd scoop it up in a second (provided it was made by New Era).

The 90s grey caps never worked for me. they looked too dull, kind like a cheap twill hat. I had an old starter USC hat in the early 90s that was more of a grey wool flannel, akin to the throwback grey yankees hats. that material would look 100 times better.

Why is Kurt Warner wearing an Albertson's apron in your sig when everybody knows he worked for Hy-Vee?
