Fake or not so fake jerseys on eBay?

Riddle me this, fine people:

I bought a SD Chargers football jersey on eBay for $40 (that included shipping). It claims to be on the field, authentic, real jersey; has all the tags, NFL quipment tag on the collar, blue "jock tag" on the bottom, etc etc. Everything is stitched on, tackle twill numbers and letters and lightning bolts. The material is mesh and the shiney shoulders and sides (okay, maybe not the best description, so here's a similar auction on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/NFL-SAN-DIEGO-CHARGERS...1QQcmdZViewItem )

So, is this real or not? Since it wasn't terribly expensive, I'm not upset with the purchase. But, I was just wondering, if it is authentic, how is it being sold at such a low price? Then, again, it's coming from Singapore, so could it be a "grey market" item?

Anyways, just curious...

If you load pics of your jersey, once you get it, here, I believe you can get a sure answer of whether or not your jersey is authentic or not, or if its a good fake.

The World Basketball Championship, the Davis Cup, Ryder Cup, Iraq: Every day there's further proof that we, as a nation, are not very good at international competition.

yah, it's hard to distinguish it as a fake without pics

It's a fake. the "Authentics" that Reebok sells do not have cuffed sleeves. The font on the name and number are a bit off and the mesh isn't consistent with what would be found on that jersey. The NFL logo on the tag is a bit off as well. I purchased a similiar Cowboys old-style double star jersey a year or so ago that had the same inconsistencies.

All of that said, it is a pretty convincing fake, and you certainly can't beat the price.

it's a nice fake, but a fake nonetheless. I personally always look at the numbers. If the numbers are "smooth", it's generally an authentic. But you can see by the pics that the numbers are somewhat "unsmoothed"...you can also tell by the stitching of the player name.

Some teams come cuffed, some don't. It's really hit or miss.

Which seller did you buy the jersey from? Low price + Asian location = 99% of the time, it's a fake.

Fake. For me, the biggest proof is in the numbers themselves. The font is a Block Varsity, but not the exact one that the Chargers use. The one the Chargers use on the powder blues is the same one they use for their home and road primaries, but it's single outlined on the powder blues instead of their usual double outlining. The V-shaped cuts in the middle of the vertical strokes on the "8"s are deeper in their normal font.

Incredibly picky, but there it is nonetheless. Also, the TV numbers on the sleeves are much wider on authentic Chargers gear.

This will fool 99.99% of the general public, so if you're able to live with it, so much the better.

In order for the Mets' run of 12 losses in 17 games to mean something, the Phillies still had to win 13 of 17.

The link I posted in my original post was from the same seller... The numbers are not "smooth", but are 2 colors (white on yellow...); and there are "banded" cuffs on the sleeves...

Anyways, I suspected it was a fake, but, still not so much that I can tell right away (or, even after a close inspections). But, for a difference between $40 and $300, I can certainly live with it. I mean, it's a nice jersey...

Thanks for you input...

Yes and no.

The "on field" font for the Chargers numbers is different than the one RBK uses for their replicas and "authentics." I know exactly what you mean about the fonts being different, but that alone doesn't make this a fake (not that it isn't fake, just not for that reason.)
