Yankees Winning the Division

Sorry, Mariners fans... you're not winning the wildcard.

The idea of it happening was fun while it lasted though, right? And the AL Central teams are all flawed, especially Cleveland. Detroit this year are the same as last years White Sox... their pitching got hot last year and carried them, and now it's just not as good as it was.

So I think we can all agree on the fact that the Yankees and Red Sox are making the playoffs?

It's not a sure thing, but they're the best teams. It's funny because for all the panicking in Boston... the Red Sox still have the best record in the league. If it wasn't for the Yankees catching fire, there'd be nothing wrong except for Gagne.

But I think Yankees and Red Sox fans can agree that both teams make the playoffs. Mariners fans proooobably don't, though.

Edit: This team looks like they need something to light a fire under their ass. Maybe the Yankees closing in or overtaking them is what will do it!

You're right ITE, the Mariners are going to win the AL West... bank on that...

Here's another bold prediction I'm going to make... The Rox winning the NL West because the DBacks pitching can't hold them forever.

Mariners winning the AL West, well it could well happen. Both the Angels and Mariners are playing hot at the moment and I can see them both playing until the end of the year for the division championship.

You're right, Pitching can't hold a team together and you never know, but than again, there is another team you're forgetting the San Diego Padres. They have been consistant all year. I see the Rockies being pushed out by the end of the year with the Padres and Diamondbacks taking both the division and wild card. I see the Diamondbacks and Pads being consistant with the Rockies flaming out by September.

I think both Western divisions will be close, thing is with the NL West, there will 4 teams duking it out. We never know people are forgetting about the Dodgers. They may have been in a slump, but watch out they could be in the thick of things by the middle of September.

The Dodgers are playing about as good as the Giants right now, and the Giants just got beat in 5 straight....... By the Pirates.........

The problem with San Diego and Arizona is that they're nowhere NEAR the Rockies in terms of offense. The Rockies are a little more multi-dimensional. They can pitch some these days.

good point, but you also have to think about head to head. Can the Rockies go up with the Padres and Diamondbacks, if they can than they truly can win the division. Also lets hope the Rockies pitching can hold up. Offense is nice to have, but we need to have a good pitching staff to go along with it.

Well, their pitching is pretty good. The only problem is #4 & #5 in the rotation... with Lopez & Hursch out, the starting rotation is fairly thin. However, their bullpen is one of the best in the game, and when Fuentes gets back it's just that much better.

As long as they can hold it together when the #4 & #5 come in the game, they should be fine.

Lets see what they are made of when they play the Padres tonight. This 3 game set will see what they truly are. I wish them well, and I like to see them make the playoffs, just not ahead of the Dbacks ;)

well, all i know is Seattle IS winning the wild card. theyll make it close with the angels, but will be a few games short of winning the west. there no doubt in my mind themariners wont perform at their best down the stretch. we called up Adam Jones, a phenominal utility player and hitter, sexson is getting hot, and felix is becoming more consistent.

They've played the Padres well all season, same with the D-Backs. Here's the pitching matchups... Francis vs. Maddux should benefit the Rockies. Young vs. Jimenez in the second game is a guarenteed win for San Diego. Game three's a tossup, slight advantage to Colorado -- Cook vs. Ledezma.

Back to 5 games... Baltimore pounded the Yankees while the Red Sox scored two in the ninth to beat the Devil Rays 2-1. The kind of night the Sox really needed.

The Red Sox really should've gotten Jermaine Dye at the deadline. This lineup's struggling. Ortiz is a gap hitter at this point, given his injuries.

Well, the Rox are getting pounded, 7-0 in the 3rd right now... Watch them win tomorrow with the rook on the mound.

Well, I called it. Great outing by the Rox tonight, and Jimenez only giving up one hit.

Now let's hope you end up 1 for 3 tomorrow ITE.

I thought it was supposed to be Aaron Cook against Ledezma... I guess ESPN was wrong on their schedule or I read it wrong. :therock:

Rockies are looking good and the Yankees have been the losers of 3 of 4. Not so much fun when you play good teams, is it Yankees?

It was supposed to be, until Cook was placed on the 15 day DL.

On that note... Mike Cameron just hit a 3-Run HR to bring San Diego within 1.
