Yankees Winning the Division

I'll make it simple for you moronic Skankee fans who have these delusions of grandeur:

0% chance of catching the Mariners in the Wild Card AND

Dude, they're 1 percentage point behind the Mariners.

<_< I know that, you knucklehead. I was trying to make sure I drive the point home deep into the black hearts of the fanboys that make up the Evil Empire's fanbase. Plus, your team is still behind themselves, so shush.

No team is as good as the Yankees have played, certainly not a team with question marks in their rotation and bullpen. Everybody made a big deal when the Yankees beat up weak teams during interleague play and cut the lead down to about 6 earlier this year. They're going to cool down eventually. On that note, the Mariners are overachieving, they'll slow down.

i give the yanks a 0.00% chance of winning anything for the next oh 20ish years.............becieds 2nd in the east behiend the sox.

*smacks homer glasses off of Baka over here*

Look. The Yankees probably aren't going to win the division this year. But, to guarantee that they will finish 2nd behind the Red Sox every season for the next 2 decades (which is probably longer than you have been alive) is the height of ludicrous idiocy. I'd actually be willing to bet you money on this, but I don't believe in taking money from the mentally deficient.

On a side note... something which I didn't think was even close to possible at the beginning of the season just might happen...

Both the Mariners AND Rockies making the playoffs.

Flame... pick up Manny Corpas while Fuentes is injured, he's 9 for 9 on saves this season.

Rockies could well make the playoffs, but the chances for that are slim, they will either get bounced by the Padres or Dbacks for the NL West division championship, or they could squeak into the Wild Card, but I doubt that as well. Either way, it could be an interesting September.

I dunno, im not buyin the Yanks yet. Im not sure if it's merely a concidence but it seems like every time I see anything having to do with a Yankees win, it's always over the Devil Rays, Royals, Rangers, and other teams of the like. That and i've seen them play some really horrible series this season, such as dropping 2 of 3 to the lowly Giants earlier this summer.

And on top of that, is anyone else get the almost unbearable urge to punch someone in the face whenever those stupid Dane Cook "ITS OCK TOW BER!!!!1One!!!1Eleven!!!!" commercials come on?

100% chance that Steinbrenner just slumps over and dies the day after they miss the playoffs.

Dear Delusional Mariners Fan:

Since the All Star Break your team is a scant 2 games over .500. If your team plans on keeping the Wild Card lead they'd better start heating it up. Otherwise the only cheering heard at Safeco come October will be from the Seahawk fans next door.

Sincerely,

The Yankees just swept then-AL Central leading Cleveland in Cleveland. Sure, the Indians usually start folding their tents in August annually, but a division leader is a division leader.

It's true. But they laid down for the Red Sox about a month ago, so I expected nothing less from them. The first game, Fausto Carmona vs. Philip Hughes, was the only game I think they had a chance of winning. Hughes looked fantastic... if he can keep pitching like that he'll be huge down the stretch.

edit: In fact, I thought that was a guarenteed win for Cleveland. Oh well.

5 days ago i would have said the Yanks had a shot at te WC, not the division.... Now?

...it's looking more and more possible everyday.

And to you absolute morons out there, rip my team, it's fine.

Don't rip the fans. You rip the fans, you're ripping on me, and i do not take kindly to that.

Please choose your idiotic words more carefully next time.

Dear Delusional Yankees Fan:

2 games over .500? At least the Mariners can beat some GOOD teams. Who have the Yanks beaten? Yeah... Call me when they beat someone that has a pulse like... Oh, I don't know, Seattle maybe.

Sincerely,

Realisitic Mariners Fan :P

The Yankees will catch the Sox and win the East by one game. Every game of this thrilling chase will be televised on FOX and ESPN starting in early September.

Then Yankees will then get swept by the Mariners in the first round, and fade away like the losers that they are. Steinbrenner and his minions will throw a hissy-fit, and overspend for next year, where they will invariably die early in the playoffs again.

Best of all, I'll get to hear Susyn Waldman cry about how the Yankees deserve to win the World Series every year because they're... well... the Yankees.

It's a vicious cycle.

I would love nothing more than watching the Red Sox blow a 14 game lead and have the Yankees win the AL East but...

I have a little experience with all hit/no pitch teams; I'm an Indians fan. The Yankees are the '99 Indians. They can pound the ball, especially against bad teams, but they are going to have some trouble against a good pitching staff. Sadly, Boston has a pretty good one. The Yankees pitching is a "rubber bands and paper clips" staff. The Yankees will probably make the playoffs because The Indians don't have the bullpen, manager, or the mentality for a real playoff race. Look no further than at how The Indians folded when the Yankees and Red Sox came to town. The Mariners are a tough call. They're a great story and losing Mike Hargrove was good for ten more wins but I just don't see the M's holding on until the end. I'd love to see it but I don't think they can do it.

If there is any justice in the world Boston will hack up the division, but I doubt it. I see a wild card birth and an early exit for the Yankees. But for what it's worth I am pulling for The Yankees to win the division and Boston to choke their way out of the playoffs. Not likely but a person can hope.

Willful idiocy pisses me off. Such as predicting a run of dominance that will go through at least two generations of players. Atlanta had, unquestionably the longest run of dominance on top of one division in Major League Professional sports, but that still didn't approach two decades. If you've been alive for a quarter of a century you should know better than to make predictions like that.

Also, the Yankees could finish third one year, which would still be enough to trash your prediction.

---------------------------------

The only people I'm mad at for the Cardinals' suckitude is the ownership; they are making money hand over fist and they didn't lift a finger to address known problem areas this past offseason. Instead, they let them get worse.

They should beat teams like Oakland, Baltimore and Chicago. They didn't look so good against Boston. The 2 out of 3 they won from Anaheim is similar to the Yankees' sweep of Cleveland. We'll see who's standing at the end of the year.

Sorry, Mariners fans... you're not winning the wildcard.

The idea of it happening was fun while it lasted though, right? And the AL Central teams are all flawed, especially Cleveland. Detroit this year are the same as last years White Sox... their pitching got hot last year and carried them, and now it's just not as good as it was.
