BaltimoreFan
I'm sure this has been asked already, so sorry if it has. But where can I get authentic lettering, specifically for baseball jerseys. I got a Miguel Tejada O's jersey I want to convert to an Adam Jones. Also (as I stated in the thrift stores gems), I found an old Diamondbacks jersey I'd like to make a Randy Johnson. Anybody know a site that does old and new lettering?
logoman
I've never used these guys ( I do my own). But, you might want to check them out. There are others, maybe someone will refer you to them.http://exclusivepro.com/
Sodboy13
I can't recommend Exclusive Pro enough. I got three jerseys back from them a couple of weeks ago, all done perfectly. In fact, I had unknowingly given improper instructions on one of my jerseys, and they corrected it on their own - authenticity is a top priority with these guys. They also did a great job for me a while back stripping and re-lettering a jersey that was botched by a local operation. I know a few people that can sew very well. Does anyone know of a place where you can buy just the letters. If not, I have no problem sending them to here. It does look like excellent quality. KevinMcD
I did the exact same thing, Tejada #10 Home white to a Jones jersey, through Exclusive Pro. I took off "Tejada" by myself to save $10, it only took about 30 mins. Then I sent it off to Exclusive Pro, They did an excellent job. I would recommend them to you. fashman23
Got to go to Terry over at Exclusive Pro. They are the best in the business. I have over 300 authentics done all by Terry incuding some jerseys I purchased elsewhere and had redone.
BroadwayBlueshirt
How much do they charge just to reletter it, if I take the old name/# off on my own? I've got a Mets Glavine jersey that I'd really prefer not be a Glavine jersey, especially since I'm moving to Georgia within a month.

Some feel that Terry is pricy but at least you know it will get done right with Glacier Twill.

I've had some of the best tailors in the business -- I'm not talking about the nice Korean lady down the street here; I'm talking about the leading bespoke-suit tailor in Amsterdam and another well-known tailor in Washington, DC -- do jersey alterations, and I have always been disappointed by their handling of tackle-twill seam stitching. If you're gonna be happy with a substandard sewing job anyway, keep your Tejada jersey and just buy a replica Jones jersey with the single-color orange letters on the back. If you aren't going to be happy with a substandard sewing job, then you really do need to send the jersey to a professional jersey specialist. In my book, Exclusive Pro is the best. Reliably perfect quality, fast service, fair prices. You won't be disappointed.
ElwoodCuse
Wow I'm so tempted to send my Zito jersey back. $10 plus two ways of shipping to replace a 7 with a 5? Hmmm...
robbman21
Yep, Exclusive Pro is the best, no doubt. It's a real shame that the last time I checked their site, they could not do NFL jerseys at the moment. I acquired a game-worn Atlanta Falcons Ray Buchanan jersey about 7 years ago from the 1997 season that had no name and numbers were ripped-off, but I could see where the "34" used to be. I got it back 3 weeks later in pristine condition, and it's the prize of my jersey collection. They're never too pricey for me to use them, and I too use to do authentic lettering. Knowing a "guy who can sew well," is nice, but you will be disapointed. Trust us. We've all had jerseys that were just not quite right. As noted, you will spend a bit more, but isn't it worth it when the folks that are recomending EPS (I put a ton into the opinions of folks like SodBoy and BallWonk) do so with such conviction? Just saying. (and, BTW, add me to the list of satisfied customers of EPS)Moose
sc49erfan15
Add me to the contingent of Exclusive Pro fans as well. I only had the chance for them to do 5 jerseys of mine before they quit doing NFL, but their quality is top notch. They stopped doing NFL because they're now the provider for officially-licensed customs (Reebok, Eastbay, etc) if that tells you anything. BallWonk
Repressed memory: I forgot about the time a tailor in Chicago (who was recommended to me by a leading elected official) ruined an Ebbets Field warmup jacket. He had to remove the patches to do a little repair work (actually, I think he removed the patches to have the leather sleeves cleaned before he did the repair work, since the repair work itself shouldn't have required moving any of the patches or lettering) and got the stitching all wrong when he put the patches back on. Just because the local political boss gets all his suits from you, it doesn't mean you can sew a jersey. And I'm sure there are others who can do as good a job as Exclusive Pro. The point is to go to a jersey specialist. An option that I'd recommend is to find your nearest minor-league baseball team and ask who does their jersey lettering. Or if you have a college nearby, or if a local high school has decent uniforms, talk to the athletic offices.
fashman23
Again, I agree with the comments above. I have gotten screwed by some "local" guys that were supposed to be good. Exclusive Pro is the best in the business. They can do pretty much any jersey you can send to them. One of the most unique jerseys Terry did for me was an authentic Lightning Third Jersey with the "Shock" number style that they only wore for two seasons. It is definitely one of the most special jerseys in my colleciton. Plus, on a jersey strip situation, Terry uses a wash on the jerseys that can remove the residue from the old customization job. Otherwise, you can be left with shadows from the old numbers/letters that were on the jersey. Finally, as far as price, Terry can be slightly higher than other places, but do you want to save $10 and have your jersey look like crap? Believe me, the extra $10 is well worth it in the end.By the way Jeff B, Terry and I were talking about you the last time I was in to see him. You had about 10 jerseys hanging in there waiting to be done. You and I share a love for hockey jerseys no doubt but I just don't like the replicas which has caused me on missing out on some vintige jerseys that are only available in that style. BaltimoreFan
Just to let everyone know, I used tmorss9. He has his own company. He did a great job on the Diamondbacks jersey. It looks great much better than I could have ever expected. I'd highly recommend using him if you need any work done. He's done work for a few other members as well. Plus he's a boardmember, so you know he'll get everything right done to the smallest details. If your interested just PM him or check out his website: http://www.sportstitchathletics.com/
