NFL Replica jersey question

I've got three NFL replicas, the three old Jaguars jerseys. Were the white ones made differently? The name and numbers appear to be dyed into the jersey, while the black and teal ones clearly have the graphics applied. Also, the mesh fabric of the white one is slightly rougher or coarser than the other two. Anyone know if the white ones were made differently? They were all purchased on nfl.com so I am pretty sure the white one isn't fake. :P

At one point, and I don't know if this is still the case, the bodies of color NFL replicas were nylon, while white replicas were polyester.

For all the bird de lis haters I think the bird de lis isnt supposed to be a pelican and a fleur de lis I think its just a fleur de lis with a pelicans head. Thats what it looks like to me. Also the flair around the tip of the beak is just flair that fleur de lis have sometimes source I am from NOLA.

I know what you mean, and I think the white material is different from the colored ones; a little thicker and stiffer like you said. And I don't know if it's because it's dark screening going onto white fabric, but some of my replicas do look like what you described, where the screening looks like it bled into the fabric. I think it's just a normal discrepancy between the colored and white material. But they're definitely all legitimate jerseys

I believe they switched this season to polyester across the board, so it's quite possible that the difference in material is the reason for this.

Thanks for the info folks. I think you've all hit the nail on the head with them being a few years old. Current players like Garrard and Jones-Drew but the old style. Again, I appreciate the feedback from you all.

I've seen these too. It's usually white jerseys IIRC and the graphics are, for lack of a better description, dyed in, i.e. part of the fabric, not heat-pressed, screened, or stitched.

I don't believe any of these jerseys are sublimated, so they actually are screen-printed, but the processes are a little different. When you're printing on a dark fabric, you must first put down a layer of opaque white ink, then the colors are printed on top of the white ink. This is done so that the inks don't bleed into the dark fabric, thus altering the fidelity of their color. On a white jersey, you print the colors right on it, since you already have that white base to hold the color. I don't know how much poly vs. nylon had to do with it, but it's possible that also played a part in how the ink bled into the weave.
