nash61
Compared to the fiberglass normal ones, those are worse for concussions (see Cloutier, Dan). Can't understand why he'd make the change if it is, in fact, permanent. They also beat a team comprised of Godzilla, the ghost of Abraham Lincoln, 2 Power Rangers and Betty White. Oh, and they played in the middle of Iraq on a military base. In the sand. With no ice. Santa gave them special sand-skates that allowed them to play in shorts and t-shirts in 115 degree weather. Jesus, Zeus and Buddha watched from the sidelines and ate cotton candy. DelayedPenalty
They must have found one of Osgood's old Isles helmets in the equipment shed. Maybe it's better because it doesn't fit as closely to his face, so it's not pressing on his still healing cheek and eye socket?
SteveR
He has a Kelly Hrudey vibe going with that one.

habsfan1
I thought it was a tribute to Billy Smith, the Isles goalie who won the team all the cups. He already wore a mask like that before.

tp49
I thought it was a tribute to Billy Smith, the Isles goalie who won the team all the cups. He already wore a mask like that before.I don't think Smith ever wore a Cooper SK2000. He did wear a Koho and a Jofa and even a CCM though. Now if DiPietro could only play like Billy Smith. What's the over under on a concussion or he breaks his face again before the end of the season?

Actually, he did. Or at least it really looks like one. You're still kind of right though. I searched it up, and he wore just about every kind of mask as they evolved.
