  1. And yet he was a childhood fan of the Giants.
  2. Of course, Vin was famous for the famous calls (Clark, Buckner, Gibson, etc.). However, what we were spoiled by in LA were the stories that he was able to seamlessly weave into at-bats. Here are some examples:
  3. My two Vin moments: Around 2014ish my wife and I went to a game in Arizona. We had seats about 15 rows back behind home plate and happened to be sitting next to fellow Dodger fans which isn't all that miraculous in that park. Between innings we looked up at the press box and saw Vin sticking his head out. We all screamed "HI VIN!" and he looked over with a huge grin on his face and waved like crazy. And, I'd say about 15-20 years ago my wife went with my in-laws to church up in Thousand Oaks/Westlake Village since they (and by marriage I) have very close family friends up there. Turned out they managed to sit in the pew right behind Vin. My father-in-law told her to not say anything and to let him enjoy his privacy.
  4. The southern half of Idaho fits your description. The panhandle though is all mountains, pine trees, and resort towns (Coeur d'Alene) that does actually fit in a bit more with Cascadia. Source: ex-girlfriend from Dalton Gardens.
  5. Member has been suspended for trolling and blatantly spreading false information. The length of the suspension will be determined when all moderator votes have been cast.
  6. A team modeled after the Excalibur but operated like Circus Circus.
  7. @Jimmy! and I witnessed one live when Pedro Baez coughed one up for the Dodgers in Seattle.
  8. Somehow we had a walk-off on an infield single with five infielders.
  9. The irritating thing with the Dodgers CC is that if they wanted to honor the Latino fan base all they had to do was use what is already being sold on all corners of the internet. Of course, they gave away two variations of what would have done an even better job as part of a doubleheader giveaway in May.
  10. When they unveiled the current identity it started with Pac 10 and quickly transitioned to Pac 12 and they also had Pac 14 and Pac 16 logos ready to go. Larry Scott went as far as to mock the B1G by saying that the Pac would be the mathematically accurate conference.
  11. At least the SEC can still claim to be a conference in the southeastern half of the country. This isn't ECHL "the letters mean nothing" chicanery. The B1G, on the other hand, is an affront to every math, accounting, and science major attending its member institutions and has been since Penn State snuck in and they crammed a negative space 11 in the logo. The one thing that the ruins of the Pac 12 had going for it was that they had logos for all the different numbers of possible member schools already drawn up when they rebranded.
  12. I’m just done with the repeated calls for a Freeman for Olson trade to “make it right.” It’s not going to happen.
  13. Even an old friend has already weighed in.
  14. They've in fact returned to prominence on the Dodger Stadium scoreboards.
  15. So, we've now descended to the new low of two separate All-Star Game caps. And for some reason, the Mariners logo on the black hat looks like it took an uppercut in yesterday's brawl with the Angels.
  16. Well, firstly the intent of that ball isn't exactly obvious since it could have just as easily slipped out of the pitcher's hand and Trout was intentionally walked anyway. BUT, if it was intentional, it wasn't what started the whole chain of events but was in fact a retaliatory move for this: There's a discussion in a social media thread that I've been following that makes a good point that this whole melee kind of puts a nice bow on (especially the development that the two beaning attempts [one successful] were orchestrated by an opener who was inserted in the lineup at the last minute). It can truly be argued right now that the Angels are approaching the Astros in being a villain/pariah franchise, as this organization: *Had narcotic and spider tack trafficking rings operating under its roof (not even including the steroid shipments being mailed to Glaus at the stadium years back) *Treated (and continues to treat) minor leaguers in the organization subhumanly *Manipulated the city government to enter into a backroom below-market value stadium deal while blatantly circumventing state housing laws (which has been killed due to a scandal that caused the mayor's resignation and has gotten the Feds involved) *Has an owner who constantly meddles in the front office to the club's detriment due to his own ego (Pujols, Hamilton, Wells, Matthews Jr, Cozart, etc), fires GMs who refuse to be yes-men, and who hasn't sat down for an interview with the media in at least two years *Is wasting the careers of two generational talents *Continues to alienate its fanbase by embracing a larger media market that fans don't identify with *Favors ego-driven splash hires in other aspects of the organization over the actual fan experience (hiring Matt Vasgersian as PBP despite him being forced to call games on delay from monitors in New Jersey)
  17. Yeah, FIFA wasn’t thinking about this one.
  18. And yet the first thing I saw with the hat logo was “44” which I was guessing was there as a Hank Aaron tribute.
