  1. This is just good advice in general when it comes to the NHL.
  2. June 1st. Avoiding that Super Two status.
  3. I’ve been here for nearly two decades and from the very first few posts I made, I was pushing the A’s to Sacramento. It’s one of my oldest hills I’ve died on many times here before. Now, that being said, OH, COME ON. Even Sacramento, as shameless as it can be, isn’t willing to be a stopgap between a city with more crime and a city with less water. Ridiculous. They would draw about as well as the Oilers did in Memphis.
  4. One of my favorite things about working for Sac Republic was seeing an ill fated April Fools joke started by a goofy front office guy turn out the nickname “The Quails” and watching it develop to the point where it’s commonplace now.
  5. It’s so weird how east coasters spend so much time sniffing their own farts over stuff like this. I don’t know if it really is because you’re really all that insulated, but none of you are as special as you think. I’ve been to Red Sox games that have put me to sleep and Dodgers games where I legit thought I was gonna die. That doesn’t mean Boston fans are fair weather or that LA fans are all that rabid. It’s all mostly relative, and a lot more equal than you think. The ONLY time I’ve ever been to a sporting event and thought “Wow, they really do it bigger here than anywhere else in the country” are some of the SEC football games I’ve been to. And that mostly just felt more sad, in a way.
  6. Cardinals are an incredibly stupid organization. You really couldn’t get ANYTHING for him in a trade? Useless team.
  7. It’s weird because I know he travels a lot, so he isn’t just one of those insulated Philly dorks. I’m guessing it’s a bid, which, oof.
  8. Both true and also a representation of how much of a joke this league is.
  9. Florida vs Vegas in the final. This league is a sideshow.
  10. Hell yeah, Nuggets. Who was the SportsCenter anchor who used to call them the Rich Creamies? Come a long way since then.
  11. Yikes. So, a few weeks ago I surprised a few people here by saying that despite being a big Giants fan, I’ve soured on Madison Bumgarner. Well, this is why. None of this surprises me. Behind the scenes of Madison Bumgarner’s struggles with the Diamondbacks
  12. I’m very excited for this particular program to be over, because the vast majority of these “city connect” uniforms have been terrible.
  13. That’s the new trend in the NBA. It wasn’t quite as dramatic, but the Warriors kinda slept through the regular season last year, too.
  14. Like, I get it, and it worked in the previous Warren Smith project. But that was organic and the branding was built around the state and all of its features. The “Loyal” brand is built around how much San Diego got :censored:ed by the Chargers. Like, I get it, but it’s kinda cringe to base the name of another team in a different sport after a perceived slight. Speaking of Warren Smith, he is NOT taking the news that Loyal won’t be included in the San Diego bid well. I feel for the guy. He saw an opening and JUST missed final gate. It’s a bad break to have it happen once, but has to be a total kick in the nuts to have it happen to you twice. I do kind of think a biopic of some sort on his involvement in all of this would be very interesting. At least, to me.
  15. Too clever by half, no doubt about it. It’s like the catty version of Sac Republic.
  16. That’s kind of got me thinking. Has MLS surpassed the NHL in terms of being part of the “big four”? If it hasn’t, when will it? It’s to the point where we’re seeing expansion teams slapped with a half a billion dollar entry fee and happily paying it. It’s not a matter of if that’ll happen, but when. And I get that MLS is sort of a pyramid scheme, but the NHL is already a Ponzi scheme so what’s the difference, really?
  17. Ehh, not really. At least from a population standpoint, most of the valley lives east of the city, which is right where Mesa is. Unless there’s been a noticeable shift to the south in the decade(!) since I’ve lived there (which, come to think of it and how big Chandler and Gilbert were getting, it could be), Mesa is a solid spot, and probably around where they should’ve been looking all along. Everything is too damaged now, though. Get em outta the state.
  18. As it should be. I kinda think the days of USL ownership groups being able to hop up to MLS are over. There’s just too much money involved and even the best of these USL ownership groups simply don’t have the funds. The expansion fee is like a half a billion dollars at this point. Most of these clubs that had the potential to move up did so with the cost being less than 20% of that. From first hand experience, it’s time to let the big boys do their thing, and let the USL clubs keep things realistic. Even very recently, there used to be a decently “clear path” to the top, but those days are over and the last bit of that died with COVID.
  19. Ok I’m glad you did, though because I thought the same thing. That last shot from him in particular was BRUTAL. He’ll probably go absolutely nuts in the next game just out of spite, but I am curious to see just how much he has left to make a run like this. This is a very weird Lakers team in that he’s still probably the best player on the court for LA but not always. He has these increasing moments where he just looks kind of off, which would stand to reason and make sense for just about anyone but him. Has a very Tom Brady feel to it.
  20. It doesn’t by design because the Kings dumbass owners didn’t want to risk the potential competition. I wouldn’t say Sacramento is a good option for a hockey team, but people are throwing out places like Portland and Salt Lake City so yeah, why the not? Sacramento Coyotes FTW. It would be really nice to finally get a professional hockey team in Northern California. Been too long without one.
  21. These are both correct simultaneously. It’s MADDENING.
