  1. And Charlotte, FAU, UNT, Rice, UAB and UTSA to the American is official now.
  2. Hearing now that Southern Miss and Marshall to the Sun Belt is all but official...so ODU's ambitious plan is looking like the C-USA's last hope. The fact that they interviewed a Harrisonburg newspaper tells me Just who they got in Mind for this Undertaking (notice the caps).
  3. CBS Sports is reporting that Charlotte, Florida Atlantic, North Texas, Rice, UAB and UTSA are about to apply to join the American Athletic Conference, with all six teams expected to be approved.
  4. Apparently the Mountain West is already discussing expansion with interested schools (though which schools were not specified, and I have no idea who'd be in position to jump over there).
  5. You'd think that, Texas (especially the Metroplex) being "'Murica" personified, they would stay FAR away from any team with these European naming standards (main reason FC Dallas is thriving is because of their amazing academy). "You're in America, so call yourselves the (locale name) (nickname)!" I don't know how long this team will last...
  6. Down to the Final Three...Frontliners, Greenbelters, Responders and Watchdogs are out. (I voted for the DragonSlayers in that round...though I could see FerryHawks and Harbor Heroes winning too)
  7. And it appears Air Force and Colorado State are staying in the Mountain West after all:
  8. With all this talk of D2 schools moving up (particularly as successful as former GLVC schools have been in making the leap)...I wonder if my hometown D2 school Wisconsin-Parkside has ever thought of making the jump up? (They are working on making some major renovations to their athletic facilities, after all)
  9. Texas A&M-Commerce to the Southland is official now too.
  10. FWIW, I found out why "Pizza Rats" isn't on the list of finalists for Staten Island's Atlantic League team (even though pundits seemed to really enjoy it)
  11. I'm still mad they decided to ignore their fans and not bring back the Attack (despite the fact that it had 90% of the votes in the name-the-team finals poll)
  12. Texas A&M-Commerce (currently Division II) to hold press conference on Tuesday, where they are expected to announce they will join the FCS and the Southland Conference, becoming its seventh football-playing member.
  13. Now, where would Murray State end up? If not the Missouri Valley, I'm guessing the ASun. (I would have been ambitious and seen if the Sun Belt would work out, but it turns out Roy Stewart Stadium is nowhere near suitable for FBS-the grandstands are only one on side) Just goes to show how mighty the Missouri Valley has gotten as a conference (I'm still hoping the Big East can make a "trade" with 'em, Loyola Chicago for DePaul).
  14. I honestly think that Colorado State and Air Force could be beneficial for the American...not only would they give Wichita State a close rival, but having Air Force on board could sweeten the pot for Army to join (at least as a football-only member). Only roadblock is, I assume it's essential to both schools that the Army-Navy Game be the very last game of the FBS regular season and get a weekend all to itself, so I don't know how that would work out if it was an intraconference game. And of course, who would the Mountain West look to pick up to replace any departing teams? (My guesses would be Montana, Montana State, Eastern Washington and Portland State, with Northern Colorado being an alternate pick should one of these four decline)
  15. Yes to the first three...maybe on the last one. Rice's main selling point these days is its location in Houston (and its stadium and team being shouted out in JFK's "to the moon" speech and being the worst stadium to ever host a Super Bowl). Given the program's current irrelevancy, I doubt that the AAC will want to add them just to keep a Houston presence (but then again, I doubted the AAC would want Tulane for these reasons, but they're in and have gotten pretty good)
  16. I agree with this proposal...and I have a name for the Power Five's subdivision: the Football Accolade Sudivision (FAS). That way, we'd have an easy way to remember the levels (FAS, FBS, FCS), with each one competing for their own national championship.
  17. I'm starting to agree with you...largely because I would've liked to see the WAC or C-USA as a power conference at some point.
  18. To-be-added D1 schools continued: UC San Diego Tritons (since 1960) St. Thomas Tommies (since 1885)
  19. Gonna post the logos for NCAA DI schools yet to be added to the site: Bellarmine Knights (since 1950) California Baptist Lancers (since 1950) Dixie State Trailblazers (since 1911) Tarleton State Texans (since 1899)
  20. I think Marshall and Coastal Carolina could be added to that list.
  21. I agree with @sportsfan7's approach...the AAC is going to go for Rice and Marshall first, with UAB as their first choice for #3 and Buffalo as their second choice.
  22. Eventually...but right now, I see 'em more in the Sun Belt's battle plans.
  23. I think @sportsfan7 makes some good points, and I'll have to agree with their assessment. Of course, once THAT happens, the conversation will shift to C-USA...methinks they'll raid the Sun Belt (again), targeting Appalachian State, Coastal Carolina, Georgia State and Louisiana (combination of football/MBB/baseball success and strong markets).
  24. Which begs the question; if BYU doesn't come on board, then who's the backup school the Big 12 will pursue? (Possibly another team from the American; maybe USF to give UCF a close rival)
