  1. Strange, I thought their rebrand would be a name change to the Rockford Blackhawks.
  2. In fact, a common joke in student-athlete movies and films is how colleges significantly lower their academic standards just for their star athletes (it's been a trope everywhere from SNL to Rocky & Bullwinkle)
  3. With USC now in the same conference as Michigan, Purdue, Michigan State and Northwestern, I think the Big Ten's endgame is to sweeten the pot as much as possible to finally win the grand prize of these decades-long realignment games: Notre Dame. (A pot that will only be sweeter for the Irish if the Big Ten pulls Stanford as well,,,of course, if Notre Dame relents, the Big Ten would make them an offer they couldn't refuse, threatening to never let any Big Ten teams play them again unless they join)
  4. At least the three biggest TV markets in the nation (the four biggest if you consider State College part of the Philly TV market).
  5. For now, SFA says they're staying in the WAC...but I figure they may have no choice but to at least do a feasibility study on making the jump up.
  6. As much of a Milkmen fan as I am, the fact that they don't have a year-round online store is an embarrassment. (I think they're the only MLB Partner League team not to have one)
  7. The Utah Grizzlies were in the AHL for four seasons, having joined in '01 as one of the six IHL survivors to join (along with my Milwaukee Admirals and the Chicago Wolves, Grand Rapids Griffins, Manitoba Moose and Houston Aeros) before switching leagues in '05 (they bought the ECHL franchise most recently known as the Lexington Men-o-War, while their AHL franchise went dormant before being purchased by a new group, where they're now the Cleveland Monsters). So maybe something went terribly wrong with their AHL time (likely how they were far away from other teams) and that's why have no interest in going back...
  8. Thus cements Stockton's legacy as the passenger pigeons of minor league hockey. Once the liveliest fanbase in the ECHL, no one would so much as surrender a thought that the Port City would ever lose minor-league hockey forever...but now here we are.
  9. The IceDogs' lease runs until 2034...though I wouldn't be surprised to see another struggling OHL team move to Brantford soon *cough*Mississauga Steelheads*cough*
  10. I'm thinking Lethbridge as well (possibly Red Deer). Thing is, where would the Hurricanes (or possibly Rebels) move to?
  11. So, I wonder what the Toronto Rock of Hamilton thinks of their first season in Steel City? (and whether or not they should've just moved to Coca-Cola Coliseum like I'd suggested)
  12. NCAA DIVISION I Stonehill Skyhawks (since 1948) Logo (2005-present):
  13. ESPN reports that Mount St. Mary's is joining the MAAC effective July 1.
  14. I can't be the only one who thinks it's weird that the Bucks have the Jumpman on their jerseys, but their opponents (the one team where that brand would make sense) don't.
  15. And the BR in my hometown (a combined BR-Dunkin' Donuts) still has the middle logo on their signboards...
  16. Nope...all the old Fielders fans are Kingfish fans now (and one of the several reasons why we're consistently in the Top 3 in Northwoods League attendance)
  17. If they were willing to accept Liberty University, they'll take anybody they can get.
  18. I gotta say, being Notre Dame's first FCS opponent in EONS (and their first ever HBCU opponent) sure gives that impression...their location and stadium doesn't hurt either. Thing is, right now the only FBS conference which would take them would be the ever-desperate C-USA.
  19. Been a while...just got a couple things: Brewers: Add the 2020 NL Wild Card and 2021 NL Central Championship Bucks: Add the 1971 & 2021 NBA titles and the 1974 Eastern Conference title. Admirals: Add the 2020 Admirals unofficial AHL title and the 2006 Admirals Conference title. Thank you again.
  20. I agree...as America's only Catholic HBCU, Loyola NOLA deserves to be better known (and a FAR more solid brand than whatever this is).
  21. New Division I schools: Lindenwood Lions (since 1827) Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles (since 1965) Texas A&M-Commerce Lions (since 1889-known as East Texas State Lions until 1996)
  22. Most sports are joining on July 1, football in 2023 (so as not to risk the Big South champion's AQ spot in the FCS playoffs) Would be a big pickup for the OVC...not only do they need football schools, but going straight into the heart of traditional MVC territory sends a message after the MVC picking up their two best members.
  23. What are the odds they could convince Morehead State (an OVC member in every other sport) to start offering scholarships and thus join them in football too?
  24. 1. Where did you hear it's official that Murray State football is playing in the OVC this year? I heard they'd applied to join the MVFC and their approval was pending, but nothing about dates... (EDIT: Just learned that Murray State's approval would likely be for 2023 to give the OVC time to find a sixth football school...my bad.) 2. As New Haven is a football school, I'm wondering which conference they'd be most likely to join too.
