  1. Assuming all four schools get invited and join...UCF is gonna pay beaucoup bucks on travel (the closest current Big 12 team is West Virginia, and the closest potential Big 12 team would be Cincinnati, both 900 miles away and on their own island from the heart of the conference). I hope they're ready to soak up these costs.
  2. Sources are reporting that the Big 12 and Pac-12 are meeting to discuss a partnership, which could lead to anything from a "scheduling alliance" to a full-blown merger. (Makes sense, given how both conferences are the most frequently snubbed by the CFP among the Power Five, and I feel K-State, Iowa State and Oklahoma State would like to resume their rivalry with the Buffs) Of course, this all comes as rumors of Kansas to the Big Ten intensify...
  3. And it's official...with a unanimous 14-0 vote, the SEC has officially invited Oklahoma and Texas to join. Not sure what all needs to happen before they can officially announce their acceptance, but one thing is for sure; today is the last day of the NCAA as we knew it.
  4. And they're losing their IFL team before it even plays a down...the IFL's Oakland Panthers are moving to San Jose and the SAP Center in 2022. (No word as to whether or not they're going to try and buy the rights to the the San Jose SaberCats identity). So yeah, Oakland has become the place teams go to die...
  5. Alas, poor Skating Fridge...you were too good for this world.
  6. Abbotsford identity unveil pushed back to July 14:
  7. Finally, the Boston-Portland affiliation trifecta is complete...the ECHL's Maine Mariners are going to be affiliated with the Bruins. The Mariners had been struggling in attendance pre-pandemic...if this affiliation doesn't save the team, nothing will.
  8. I STILL don't understand how and why the 'Canes-Checks affiliation fell apart...it sounded so perfect in every way.
  9. Had heard somewhere that the PLL's operator had said that they could become a city-based league in the near future...if that's the case, which cities would you put their teams in?
  10. Brace yourselves...Seattle was the first, but MANY teams in the coming years are going to want to hop on the gravy train and call themselves the Kraken (just as nobody was called the Wild before Minnesota announced it as their name, but afterwards it's become quite a common minor-league name).
  11. It looks like that Waukesha County (Oconomowoc is their settled destination) group has given up on the Northwoods League and will instead join...the American Association for its inaugural 2022 season. They're branding themselves as a "Lake Country" team, and are holding a name the team contest...I submitted the Wizards (The Wizard of Oz had its world premiere in Oconomowoc on August 12, 1939, and a replica yellow brick road complete with statues of the Oz characters stands downtown).
  12. In that case, why not go with the Coca-Cola Coliseum (only other neighbors are the AHL Marlies)?
  13. The question is, how much longer will they remain the IceHogs? (I think they're gonna be the Rockford Blackhawks within two years, three at most)
  14. I'm still hopeful that we'll see Loyola Chicago move up to the Big East someday...their rivalry with Marquette would be the stuff of legend. In fact, I'm even willing to see the Big East make a trade with The Valley...they can have DePaul.
  15. We finally have a new name for Princeton's Appy League team...say hello to the Whistlepigs! They were originally set to unveil the rebrand on Groundhog Day (a whistlepig is another name for a groundhog or woodchuck), but their trademark faced an objection from the Whistlepig rye whiskey company. Thankfully, since no alcohol (nor alcohol accessories) is sold by the 'Pigs at Hunnicutt Field or anywhere else, they were able to get their brand cleared.
  16. The Cleburne Railroaders (independent American Association) have unveiled their new color scheme and visual identity.
  17. In a crazy twist, turns out the Otterbots' logo isn't even the best otter-related baseball logo to be unveiled today...the Evansville Otters (Frontier League) now unveil their new look.
  18. I submitted the Danville Iron Horses...honors the town's railroad (and Civil War) history, but also makes for a fun, kid-friendly brand.
  19. If ANY FCS conferences make the jump to FBS anytime soon, it's NOT going to be the WAC or A-Sun (My guesses were always the MVFC and Big Sky-possibly the CAA?)
  20. IIRC, they were kicked out of the Summit (back when it was the Mid-Continent Conference) for constantly finishing last back in the mid-00s. So yeah, the WAC was desperate...which other D1 conference would take them?
  21. Good move! Not only are HBCUs a hot commodity right now, but with the Southland about to lose one big rivalry game played in Houston, they might as well gain another equally strong one.
  22. And it's official...ACU, Lamar, SHSU, SUU and SFA to the WAC in 2022, with football coming back and Chi-State leaving at the same time.
  23. A source from one of the universities confirms that the WAC's gonna make their expansion and football's return official for 2022 on January 14 from Houston's NRG Stadium. Apparently, the conference will be FCS at first, but plan to join FBS sometime within the dedate (at which point NM State will join)
  24. Exactly...the big obstacle is that NM State doesn't want to drop down to FCS (they have a smallish but truly DEVOTED alumni/fanbase section). Either the Mountain West swallows their pride to invite them, or Conference USA gives 'em a shot (expanding their footprint and adding fuel to the NMSU-UTEP rivalry, even if it's just where the loser gets the conference's wooden spoon for now).
  25. Sorry to bump up a long-sleeping thread, but the Milwaukee Milkmen of the American Association (name submitted in the contest by yours truly) won the 2020 AA Championship last night! As such, I wanted to see if you were still making these sigs so I can have their championship added to mine. Milkmen cap logo: Miles Wolff Trophy:
