  1. Staten Island's team will remain the Yankees for 2017: http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20161219&content_id=211867892&fext=.jsp&vkey=news_t586&sid=t586
  2. I wonder how good of a hockey venue the Golden 1 Center is?
  3. After SO many lame, cliched logo unveilings this offseason...Brandiose finally puts out a good, solid, not-too-gimmicky set, reminding us why Plan B Branding was our favorite design team. Can't wait to see the Spiders play my Kingfish this season!
  4. Kinston's new Carolina League team has a name...say hello to the Down East Wood Ducks! Logo coming November 30.
  5. Makes sense, though, given how the fans are being screwed over by this...
  6. Gotta feel bad for the Coogs (I mean Houston)...this was their best shot to make the step up.
  7. Fond du Lac unveiled its five name-the-team finalists today. And they are the... Barn Owls Dock Spiders Lake Flies Pipsqueaks Shantymen
  8. I admit, I REALLY like the Wood Ducks possibilities...this sounds like something right up Brandiose's alley.
  9. Staten Island Yankees release five Name-the-Team Finalists. Bridge Trolls - Why not just the "Trolls"? The marketing campaign could write itself. Heroes - Perhaps the best "quality" of the names...I'd wanted a team to call themselves the New York Heroes ever since the aftermath of 9/11. Killer Bees - So they did get a Wu-Tang name after all (I had submitted Shaolin Warriors)...problem is, there's already two MiLB teams called "Bees." Pizza Rats - The best of the "silly" names, there WILL be lots of merch sold from that brand! Rock Pigeons - Again, why not just the "Pigeons"? It can also be a popular brand...
  10. They BETTER have purple in the color scheme...the team was named after wine crushers...
  11. Thoughts on the transactions: 1. Sucks to see Bakersfield and High Desert flat-out lose their teams...hopefully the summer-collegiate Great West League can find good ownership to fill both these ballparks for next season. 2. Anybody know how well J. P. Riddle Stadium would rank nowadays even as a temporary stadium? It's done a good job hosting the SwampDogs (summer collegiate Coastal Plain League), so I imagine it would be servicable for now. 3. Surprised Kinston didn't pursue a CPL team in the years Grainger Stadium was vacant...unfortunately, I can't vote in their name-the-team contest, but my choice would be Kinston Chefs (Kinston is home to Vivian Howard and her restaurant "Chef and the Farmer" from the PBS show "Chef's Life." Just as that Chef does in her restaurant, on the field, these Chefs would be cookin' up good baseball and solid entertainment on a nightly basis! Not to mention, the floppy hats and related merchandise would SELL LIKE HOTCAKES!)
  12. I entered Hot Pots...in honor of the Fondue Fest. For all the Wisconsin teams in the NWL, there aren't any which honor the cheesemaking industry, and almost everybody who's tried fondue LOVES it! (PS: I know hot pot is a different dish, but it can be made in fondue pots)
  13. I still think NMSU should join C-USA...opens up the West and the rivalry with UTEP would be a conference one!
  14. If BYU is denied, why don't they kick out Baylor or TCU as well? Both are also Christian colleges whose sponsoring faiths have similar stances on LGBT issues...
  15. Probably...as the PR said: "Now that the fans have spoken, we are going to examine how we can show people beyond Lynchburg what this franchise is all about. There may be some opportunities to freshen up the logo and some branding after 21 years, but no matter what, Hillcats will be at the core of everything we do moving forward."
  16. Lynchburg's name-the-team contest wrapped up...they will remain the Hillcats.
  17. I get how the ACC's deal ensures no teams will leave...but I don't see how it ensures no new teams will join...
  18. Unlike the B-Mets and Zephyrs, the Hillcats said (on their FB page comments though) that if the fans wanted 'em to stay the Hillcats, that's what they were gonna be.
  19. Anybody imagined what the logistics would be renovating one of Reno's existing arena's to include a hockey rink? (either the Lawlor or the Reno Events Center?)
  20. Surprised nobody's tried speculating on where Vegas' AHL affiliate will go (all signs indicate that the AHL will expand) We KNOW it's gonna be out West...Reno seems like the most obvious pick, but they still can't get an arena built (an ECHL franchise has been dormant for thirteen years waiting on it). Other possibilities include Fresno, Sacramento or Salt Lake City...
