Being in SD I get the sense the Gulls name coming back is a must. The old Gulls didn't close down for lack of local support but rather owner indifference. That and it makes sense having one water foul as the minor league team of another. Hopefully they can get the OK from the junior hockey Gulls...then again, they're the Ducks, so they can throw some good money towards them to get that going.

Am I the only one who would kinda like to see the San Diego Mariners come back? WHA history aside, it'd make sense and would subtly recall the franchise's prior history as the Norfolk Admirals.

Actually, I thought the "A" with the "Mountaineers" script inside the bridge was the primary and the Yosef head was the alternate...it says so on the mothership.

I don't see why this logo gets as much hate as it does...for some reason, everybody loves everybody else's "classic" mascot logos, but hates this one. (I love 'em ALL, and this is no exception...has a unique touch to the old-school format)

Actually, I've always kinda preferred their first look with the "Flying Elvis".

Hopefully the Columbia Blowfish name jumps from the Coastal Planes League Not gonna happen...the CPL team moved to Lexington County and is keeping the Blowfish name. (Though I did ask them about the possibility of doing a rename-the-team contest after this season)

Actually, the problem seems to be the Greensboro Coliseum is WAY too big to sustain a minor-league team...

I actually LIKE the Braves' current road alternate look...it's a nice, clean identity, with a bit of a "neon" look with the font. For those complaining about little to no red, I take it you never saw their '80's brand.

Turns out the Pelini to Youngstown State reports I mentioned earlier are true. Again, things that make you go hmmmm...I still would't be surprised to see the Penguins go to the MAC in about 5-10 years.

So, apparently Bo Pellini's gonna be the new coach at Youngstown State. I have no idea why he'd go from Big Ten to FCS (he wasn't THAT bad of a coach)...UNLESS the Penguins could be planning a move up (Maybe to the MAC to replace UMass and be that all-sports member?)

Apparently, Daytonans (is that what you call them?) are complaining in droves, mainly crying that "it's not an American team name," etc. etc. Reminds me of the backlash that the El Paso Chihuahuas got last year...an identity which I LOVED gets blasted by lots of people initially, but in the end, most of them get used to and appreciate it.

Maybe it's me, but I'd rather watch the Iowa Cubs than the Iowa PorkChopzz. But would you rather have them than the Iowa Oaks (a concept I've seen BEAUTIFULLY done several times)?

1. The fans liked the RedHawks name. 2. If the name HAD to be changed, the fans would've liked it to be the 89ers. 3. The Dodgers IGNORED their fans and dumped the successful brand and mascot. That's how I see it.

FWIW, all the teams have webpages reserved and Twitter pages too...but the only one to have any followers (or to follow anybody for that matter) is @BiloxiBeacons. (one of the ones they're following include the temporary team account).

If so, I hope they at least had the decency to make it the Beacons.

Remember, the finalists were Beacon (why not "Beacons" I have no idea), Black Jacks, Mullets, Schooners, Shrimpers and Shuckers. Judging from the teaser and from which is most marketable, my guess is Black Jacks...although I'm hoping for Shrimpers in the back of my mind.
