  1. I was browsing the NHL Uniform Database as you wont to do and noticed it appears the Lightning retired that black alternate. I don't pay attention to the Lightning that much, so is that the case?
  2. Ehhhhhh. I understand it's throwback based to the old North Bay team but it's such a departure from a pretty unique colour scheme and jerseys to the Boston Bruins (at a time where other CHL teams are getting further away from wearing unchanged NHL templates) and a colour scheme that three other teams use. They also introduced a white version too for the second half of the season.
  3. I'd have to imagine Flames and Oilers games will have that kind of fan split too.
  4. Part 1: I just hope the current home and away are mothballed. I will gladly take a return to the Mighty Ducks logo because I think a complete eggplant and jade return is off the table now. Maybe they see what Buffalo did and have a throwback alternate. Part 2: Who is this guy and where did he come from? Last year, what seemed to be a normal, everyday teenager won the CHL design-a-jersey contest for the Calgary Hitmen and I was at the game where they wore those jerseys and the guy was part of the festivities. Fast forward many months, I see somebody posting stuff about the RR's and when I click on the profile, it's the same teenage guy who won that contest. What was his hit rate on the RRs? Who are his sources?
  5. I can't recall the Jets putting out a jersey schedule, besides announcing the games they were going to wear the black alternates, and I don't think they have one. The green for week 15 is just the next home game, so I don't know if there's much stock to put in the GUD yet. They first wore the white/black/black look last year and brought it back for the Pittsburgh game this year, which was the first of that four game win streak so I think it's just superstition mostly at this point. lol no.
  6. 11 games - 6 home and 5 away 3 white jersey/white pants/white socks (two home, one away) 2 black/black/black with the black helmets (both home) 6 white/black/black (two home, four away) The all-white looks were the first three games of the season and then the black pants and socks have been worn ever since.
  7. It is an indication of the fans/people who use that resource. Again, it's not anywhere close to a perfect sample, but it's the "best" sample anyone can easily get. This isn't a scientific study or anything like that, it's just taking the temperature of what the people on those sites are feeling. We might not like what those people are saying, but I don't think it's something that can be completely ignored because of where it came from. You now know what the Twitter and Reddit people are saying about the look and can do with that what you feel.
  8. It's probably a pretty decent measure of what fans want. Unless you're expecting a peer reviewed study of a survey taken at the entrance to the games, it's probably the best measure you're going to get. It going to be biased in a couple ways because of the demographic of the people who use Twitter and Reddit, but again, it's going to be a the "best" measure of what fans want.
  9. This was an already scheduled alternate game, but the Jets have yet to wear the green jerseys this season. Nine in white and then this will be the second in black. I still don't know why they flipped the JETS helmet decal colours on the black helmet so it doesn't match the jersey numbers (well I have an idea). Would be an improvement to this set if it all matched.
  10. Looking through the Isles jersey history there, they haven't had completely matching socks to jerseys, both dark and white, since the 1977-78 season.
  11. My parents are at that game and that's what my dad said. He likes them a lot but the names are hard to read. They should have just used the old red names and numbers.
  12. The Edmonton Oil Kings unveiled a new sans-red alternate jersey yesterday. It had looked like they quietly retired the black and neon alternate set within the last couple seasons and this really confirms that.
  13. It's basically just been the Jets. I think that's mostly it. I don't know how many people are clamouring for WHA throwbacks. It definitely has nowhere near the same cache as the AFL, obviously, nor the ABA. The Hitmen wore Cowboys (which are just Blackhawks jerseys without the black) jerseys a couple years ago for one game of a three games they played at the Calgary Corral before it was demoed. And the Spruce Grove Saints of the AJHL use the Fighting Saints logo.
  14. I don't really like the single stroke script and numbers when you should have two colours to work with. I also don't like the inconsistencies between the colouring of the script, the front and back numbers and the NOB. It's bothered me before on baseball jerseys, including some of the Twins old set, and still does now.
  15. I personally think Carolina has a lot to clean up with their entire identity. I don't know if this is a hot take, but I do not like their use of silver and would much rather them drop it and just be a black/blue/white team.
  16. Just a reminder that the Honda Center expansion/mixed-use development is going to be called ocV!BE... so yeah.
  17. If you want to kill some time, the voting for the fan designed WHL and OHL jersey contest opened today. The winning jersey for each team will be worn at some point during the season. https://contests.chl.ca/yourteamyourjersey
  18. Besides, the Blue Jackets have these waiting in the wings way ahead of any Barons throwbacks.
  19. The Jets are somehow 5-2. What I think the best or worst part depending on how you feel, is that Zach Wilson is probably the weakest link.
  20. Yeah, exactly. You proved my point. The Toronto Baseball Maple Leafs are irrelevant.
  21. I'm a couple years younger than the baseball Rockies so I don't know what, if any, issue there was with the baseball team taking the hockey team name back then, but I think if your name has been taken by a different professional team in a different professional sport, you're a bit irrelevant as a franchise. I can't even say that the hockey Rockies held much of a position in the "vintage hockey apparel" world that some other teams have until the Avs started playing dress-up (again, also a bit of a sign of irrelevance if an unrelated team starts wearing your logo and nobody has a problem with it). When I think of the Rockies, all I know is that Lanny MacDonald and Wilf Paiement played for them.
  22. They went with white again and they're only wearing them at home twice, which is odd to me. Also both times, they had a minor change for the worse. Last time with the dark socks with the white jerseys and now the orange pants instead of black. That doesn't fit the colour swap and is going to extend the bottom of the jersey going from orange into orange pants instead of stopping at the hem like with the old Mighty Ducks set. Watch them break out the dark socks again this time too.
  23. I really doubt this, but I hope they go with a 1995 throwback and not a 1993 throwback because I want to see the shoulder patches. Maybe frame it as a 2003 jersey, but I don't know if any of the other RR's were in middle of years as opposed to being the first year of the jersey.
  24. I don't like that the white of the logo, the Stanley Cup and the background are all the same colour/diamonds. Everything gets lost.
  25. Here's Icethetics 2022-23 Jerseywatch. Personally not a fan of it being a 21 minute video instead of an article, but hopefully it'll get turned into one later.
