  1. Consider me pleasantly surprised that the horn football is on the sleeves and not a second use of a double-E. The helmet stripe is out of place though.
  2. Looks like a return to the old Edmonton Football Team classic "logo inside jersey striping" striping. I don't think I like the idea of no green stripes on the white jersey and I also don't like this apparent elk head erasure. While the antler helmet decals didn't work, having the Double-E on the helmet and, what looks to be, the jerseys, it'll make the elk logo kind of a primary logo in name alone.
  3. The Ice bailed out of Cranbrook because of the arena and attendance situation there and then Cranbrook "downgraded" to Jr. A. No way a professional team heads there.
  4. Nope. That's always been the assumption, but there hasn't been any sample size (at least in the modern era) of having both teams in the same city at the same time. It is happening in Winnipeg right now, but that situation isn't the same with the Moose being Winnipeg's only hockey team for 25 years and the Ice only being in Winnipeg for three seasons (two of which were pandemic impacted) and not having their arena yet. The article says "Calgary area" and you go with Regina? I guess it is more "Calgary area" than Stockton is. The article says in Canada and in the Calgary area, so only really Lethbridge of yours would fit that bill. But yes, the issue would be the existing Junior teams/the amount of hockey already being played plus the size of the cities and arenas. I don't know if "Calgary area" actually means in Calgary, but Calgary doesn't really have another big enough existing arena. There's the Saddledome, but I don't know if they would want to add a fourth team to the Dome master schedule. There's the First Nation arena that the Hitmen played the pandemic 2020-21 season at and a couple games this previous season when the Flames and Roughnecks had covid reschedules, but that only holds 2000 people. There's the bowl arena at the Olympic Park complex, but that's only like 2500-3000 capacity and international ice. The Calgary bedroom cities/towns of Airdrie, Cochrane and Okotoks do not have a big enough arena (Okotoks has an Junior A team, still not a big enough arena). Then the other players of Lethbridge and Medicine Hat have the WHL teams. (I also don't really know the AHL circuit that well, but would Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Regina, et al (minus Saskatoon) be big enough cities and big enough arenas in comparison?) If the rumors from that article are correct and it is in Canada and in the Calgary area, I don't know where that could be.
  5. The Flames potentially moving their AHL team? Well I never. "into the Calgary area" though?
  6. I've posted it before and I'll post it again, I think the best Flyers jerseys are worn by the Medicine Hat Tigers (though the Flyers should flip the Tiger's black/orange hierarchy into the orange/black).
  7. Still one of my favourite arena names in sports. It is Memorial Centre sponsored by Save-On-Foods but it can read as a community monument to the remembrance of a grocery store chain's sacrifice.
  8. The Angels hat says "ANGELS" in the side patch. I guess New Era just went back to ol' reliable after last year's Fourth of July attempt.
  9. When the change was revealed, Ryan Popowich of CSEC (the marketing person who has been the face of the Flames jersey news in recent years) said, in not so many words on Twitter, that the red jerseys didn't look good against the new WestJet teal turf. I don't doubt that it didn't look great, but I don't know if I like the colour of a sponsored turf being the reason for the jerseys to change. I also don't know if that was the only reason, but it appeared to have been a reason. There's also the Air Canada conspiracy that I saw like one person make on Twitter when this change happened.
  10. I agree with the sentiment that the Als helmet is going to stick out against the rest of the uniform. I don't like those Winnipeg jersey at all. I posted this back in December and I haven't heard anything since so I don't know if a change is/was expected. However, all their social media graphics for the last while have been pretty sans-black and the red/black home and the black alternate jerseys are 50% off and have been for a while, It seems kind of pretty late in the game if a change were to happen with training camps starting in two weeks, especially considering the other changes for this upcoming season, but we'll see I guess.
  11. The jade yokes were too much. Would have been so much better without them.
  12. Well that's it really. I don't ever take notice of the CFL jersey ads, they're just "there". I don't know about the slippery slope though.
  13. I'm wondering if they questioned what the point of using (what could be viewed as) a slightly different orange would be. It's not like the Giants normal colours are navy and red where the International Orange would be a marked and intentional departure, it would just be kind of different where it may have just looked like a misprinted/miscoloured jersey. They may have just figured the Giants are famously already orange and figured it was good enough to bridge (ha!) the gap and get the point across.
  14. Take this for what it's worth (because it's the Twitter account of a subreddit). The account adds saying it's cream (though the picture there seems pretty white) and says "Angels" on the front. It then responds to another tweet saying it's "Not official but very very very likely legitimate", so yeah... The rumor going around last season was that it was beach themed, so that might track at least.
  15. I actually quite like these. I wouldn't seeing some of these aspects, namely the hat logo, being adopted to add something to the Astros lifeless regular set.
  16. Not College Hockey but University Hockey, as I watch the championship game today, my alma mater Alberta Golden Bears probably hold the record for most usage of a single logo on a single uniform set and I can't recall if I've ever posted it on the boards yet. There's eight, count 'em, eight GUBA's (the name of the mascot/logo). The green jersey and the gold jersey are slightly better as neither use GUBA as the front crest and the golds also don't use it as the shoulder patch, but they're still rocking seven and six GUBA's respectively.
  17. I really hope the Angels is this season because I am very interested to see what they go with for the "City" in City Connect. I do recall seeing a Reddit comment last season saying there was initial discussions about it being beach themed.
  18. No, I was just being difficult and a little troll attempt that didn't really get the play I hoped for. If you look at my list, they're all me trying to pick the worst/dumbest (or at least the worst/dumbest that I thought was funny in my mind) possible choices. I'm just kind of surprised that people only jumped on me wanting the Blackhawks to wear their away jerseys and how Dallas has let the Wild take the North Stars stuff (and not the fact that I had the Wild wearing the jerseys Dallas actually wore for a couple seasons). Look at my list again with that in mind. The Flames in a black pedestal with the script logo and the flags. The Canadiens in the closest I could make them to Leafs jerseys. The Ducks in the EDGE set. The Rangers and Jets wearing the same jerseys. The Oilers wearing royal and orange and navy and copper. The Red Wings not wearing any red.
  19. No, I mean the 96-09 black alt in white. I also said I want to see the Wild in North Stars jerseys too, so there's no problem there. Yes, because that's the problem you noticed with my list.
  20. Since it's all but been officially confirmed the Reverse Retros are coming back, here's my wishlist: ANA: 07-14 in eggplant/jade ARI: 07-15 in kachina BOS: 96-07 in brown/yellow BUF: EDGE Buffaslug in Goathead colours CGY: Pedestal in black with 13-16 script logo and flags on shoulders CAR: Whalers in Hurricanes colours CHI: The 96-09 black alt in white COL: 01-07 script alt but in Nordiques colours and spelling "NORDIQUES" CBJ: Columbus Chill jerseys but in Blue Jackers colours DAL: Straight 1991 Minnesota North Stars throwbacks DET: 2016 Stadium series jerseys but with silver instead of red EDM: 1996-97 white jerseys in navy/royal/copper/orange FLA: 09-12 JetBlue alts in white LA: Burger King in forum blue/yellow MIN: Straight 1991-93 Minnesota North Stars throwbacks MON: 1909-1910 blue jersey in white with the 1912-1913 CAC leaf logo NSH: Mustard alt in current colours NJ: Just add black to the Christmas jerseys NYI: 02-07 alts swapping blue and orange NYR: Straight 76-78 throwbacks OTT: 97-07 red jerseys in black PHI: 02-07 alts in black PIT: Robo Pen in Vegas gold SJ: 01-07 alts in teal SEA: Metros jerseys in current colours STL: The Mike Keenan Trumpet jerseys finally see the light of day TBL: Storm alt but with current logo and colours TOR: St. Pats but in blue VAN: Flying V in 97-07 colours VGS: Wranglers jerseys in Golden Knights colours WSH: Original jerseys in black/blue/copper WIN: Straight 79-90 throwbacks
  21. I think the tide kind of turned on him, a bit like what's starting to happen with Romo, where what people liked about him to begin with became just too much. Like you don't need to be hootin' and hollerin' on a four yard handoff.
  22. I think MEANS is entirely right and it's something I've noticed about the 2014(ish)-Pres. Ducks. In jerseys, branding and the whole entire identity package, orange is the clear secondary colour. But in instances where it is just the logo on its own, such as this playoffs logo, it is hard to go with orange (especially since I would assume the gold would still be higher in the style guide colour hierarchy and I doubt they asked the teams what colours they wanted). Here's the Ducks one in orange. I don't think it looks that out of place, but is that just because we are so used to the Ducks using so much orange?
  23. The PA Raiders wore (non-problematic) throwbacks two weeks ago.
  24. They came out with a new EE logo with the rebrand too; having more rounded off spaces in between the prongs.
