  1. Because when people who don't give a flying about NASCAR say that more road courses would make them more interested in the sport, NASCAR actually believes them. All the years of racing at the Chicagoland didn't make Chicago a NASCAR hot bed, but now a gimmicky street race is going to do the trick? Please. This is entire thing has been an exercise in stupidity.
  2. Exactly and racing F1 cars at Daytona isn't going to make me a start watching F1 races. The two series exist in entirely different worlds.
  3. I think this whole thing is a ridiculous gimmick. Indianapolis was a big deal in '94 because NASCAR was racing for the first time at arguably the most historical track in America - which was actually suited for NASCAR racing. The Chicago street race is just another pointless attempt to get people who couldn't care less about NASCAR to care about NASCAR. There's always a chance that the non-NASCAR fans who like this race are going to enjoy the cup race at Atlanta the next week, but I seriously doubt they will. Watching 3300 pound sedans trying to negotiate a course more suited for F1 cars isn't the draw people think it is. The sooner they stop this nonsense, the better. NASCAR needs to do what it's good at and it's good at oval racing. Just my opinion.
  4. That's a really bad comparison. The odds of a baseball player hitting for the cycle are much, much better than the odds of drawing a royal flush in poker. Like winning $50 on a scratch off ticket vs. hitting the Powerball better. Not to mention, you can hit for the cycle and still lose 25-1. Nothing beats a royal flush. Try again.
  5. No idea. I've never understood why it's a big deal.
  6. 'Tis true. I'm watching the game. I think the bat boy is on the mound for the Rockies.
  7. Y'all are gonna have to show a little more than that to get my attention, mon ami.
  8. Depends, what are they wearing? I'd ask what your boyfriend is wearing, but you and I have known each other a long time and I don't want to make things weird between us. Just trying to lighten the mood. I'll see myself out.
  9. Good lord, am I old. I remember when the Lions were using that logo. Anyway, I really like the helmet, but I have to think that anyone younger than I am or anyone outside of this community has no idea what the logo is supposed to be. Still a great looking helmet that is going to be wasted on a uniform. If this is a preview of the upcoming rebrand, this helmet would be a fine choice as the new primary.
  10. He's getting paid to be that guy.
  11. Let me preface this by saying that I'm as much of a laissez-faire capitalist as you're going to find on these here boards. I have no issue with billionaires or corporations (or anyone else, for that matter) making as much money as they possibly can. That being said, I do not like ads on uniforms. Why? They're ugly. Simple as that. Point being, my criticism isn't based on "corporate greed" bull, it's based entirely on aesthetics. I'm willing to bet that I'm not the only one who sees it that way.
  12. His reactions to old posts had nothing to do with his suspension.
  13. I got a kick out of his...retro reactions...I guess? Most of the time, I didn't remember saying what I'd said. Guess that comes with the territory after 17 years up in this .
  14. Exactly. The 8 seed has been regularly making the NBA Finals since load management became a thing. This is already the second time in 24 years for 's sake. Enough already. The NBA needs to fix this.
  15. It appears that I misspelled Heat. Anyway, thank you for this, Miami.
  16. No idea, but I'm guessing the bidding for Texans - Jags will be fierce.
  17. That is hardly the "only difference." I just looked this up. The cost of living in Oakland is 46% higher than the national average and housing is 99% above the national average. The cost of living in Pittsburgh is right at the national average and housing is 7% cheaper. In Cleveland, the cost of living is 6% lower than the national average and housing is 17% lower than the national average. We haven't even talked about the tax differences between California and the rust belt. Sure, a job that pays 100K here in Ohio may pay 200K in Oakland, but the person in Oakland is still not doing as well as the person in Ohio is for all the reasons I listed above.
