  1. To each their own, but could not disagree more. For one, and maybe it's just me, but I am a huge fan of football logos that run directionally instead of being forward-facing, and their logo accomplishes that with the flames. The logo is, like their old uniforms, a modern classic. No touch!
  2. We are getting a lot of great throwback styles in college basketball these days, which is made even better by the fact short shorts are back in style. Georgia looked 1,000% better than Auburn yesterday. It seems they prefer to wear the throwbacks for big games, and they have them both in white and in black. Considering how terrible their regular jerseys are, I think it's a matter of time before Mike White throws them in the trash.
  3. Alright now, hold on a second. A full rebrand of the Titans is not necessary. The major issues they have are with the uniform itself, not the colorway, logos, etc. To me, what's most critical is returning to a white helmet, because as many have pointed out, it gets lost in too many key lines on top of the navy blue shell. But a full overhaul would make me sad. The Titans before they started mixing and matching in the late 2000s/2010s had a modern classic identity.
  4. Multiple things I've reflected on this morning. To be honest, I even had to turn off ESPN because while I appreciate the raw, emotional responses full of compassion, a lot of the talk has been about "laying your life on the line" when you play football. Yes, football is extremely violent, there are many times I have to personally reconcile my fandom, but in this situation this isn't some "last straw" for football. Cardiac arrest can be caused by blunt force to the chest, and if that was the case, yes, this was a football-related injury -- and a horrific one. Obviously many here citing commotio cordis. It's also possible it was cardiac arrest from simple exertion and just so happened to be a coincidence he had made a tackle and been hit near the sternum just before it occurred. In Case A or Case B, it's either an extremely, extremely rare freak accident (the Lions player in 1970s had a pre-existing heart condition and had a heart attack), or if it's simply cardiac arrest because of an underlying condition, it could happen to any athlete in any sport -- even you on a morning jog. Of course, there is also a possibility there was trauma we don't know about and this is something that could be tied back to the forces of football, but we just don't know right now. I think the shock and gravity of what happened has created a lot of charged responses, this is not the time for that. I used to work sidelines at high school games and witnessed a kid collapse and had to get chest compressions after coming off the field from punt team -- he was literally mid sentence and then just dropped face first. Luckily, he was revived by medical personnel within 20 seconds and was alert and talking when loaded onto an ambulance, and they decided to finish the game. This is the worst of the worst when it comes to sports injuries b/c not only did he need CPR, but he could not give the thumbs up when taken off. IDK, I didn't want to make a long-winded post but I have. I just hope he's okay, and hope anyone who was on the field with him during this can cope with the trauma. Even if he comes out of this alright, it's going to be difficult for all of the players and personnel who had to go through that.
  5. Tulane looks fantastic today. The satin finish on the green helmets keeps that color from looking drab. I say, if they win this game, let’s let them back into the SEC on worthiness from quality and aesthetics. Also, Utah-Penn State is going to look unreal today. Might be my vote for uniform matchup of the year.
  6. So, I’m glad the Texans are exploring new uniforms. Their uniforms aren’t bad, never have been bad, but they’ve never stood out, either. The most important part of the identity is letting that helmet logo live and breathe on its own — they don’t need helmet stripes or anything else on a lid. It’s one of the best sports logos, and applies amazingly on a helmet. With that said, I get worried with teams openly soliciting fan feedback on changes. Mainly because, unlike people on here, fans are going to ask for ridiculous things. I see people make nonsensical uniform takes all the time (ex: Falcons fans on their boards will be like “just bring back the 90s jerseys but do red helmets” and stuff like that). Houston has a TON of potential in a redesign route. I wouldn’t want them to change their number font. Just simply bring some character to the design. But, I don’t have faith Nike will come through — they’ve failed on half their redesigns the last decade.
  7. I’m ready for Oregon to find something new. The winged helmet has overstayed its welcome to me, and this particular template is just a mess. A simpler base template and a return to the “O” on the side of the helmet would make me happy.
  8. We just had a dozen comments on the Titans and none of them mentioned removing the armpit blocks. I'm disappointed in every single one of you.
  9. Wait a second, it took the Commanders until late December to wear their standard home uniform? When it is also clearly more palatable than the weird matrix mesh on their road uniform? This organization is dumb in every single way.
  10. I'm not totally against teams at least starting to wear white socks instead of wearing the same color of the pant -- like Jacksonville did last week -- which creates the god awful leggings appearance. Tennessee can try whatever combos they want, but until they tweak the jersey by removing the dumb armpit blocks they'll always have the worst uniforms in the league. We've seen other teams make minor tweaks to jerseys before and them not count as a redesign -- Tennessee could do that. The issue is for some reason it doesn't seem like there's loud enough hate for the jerseys from the general public compared to what people like us think.
  11. If I am understanding the concept right, helmet skins let you create alternates without having to order alternate helmets? That's a dope business model.
  12. Man, that just screams Cleveland. That looks perfect. It's also funny to me how it seems that facemasks do not count as part of the actual uniform and can be changed at will, unless this technically counts as an alternate? Honestly, I don't even know anymore. The NFL uniform rules are such a cobbled mess of reactionary mandates and the bizarre "color rush" designations that I couldn't even try to explain the rules to you, and I feel like after so many years on these boards I would have it figured out.
  13. not wearing uniforms because you've lost games in them is dumb, and something only a poverty franchise like the Jets would subscribe to I guess
  14. is that camo for DC, or a mock marble pattern? I thought mock marble at first, which is an awesome touch. Also, y'all can run me off the boards, but I love Houston Everything else is meh to me.
  15. That would be cool. As far as I understand, facemasks aren't really under the guidelines of the NFL's super convoluted and ad-hoc uniform policies. Like, if you switch a facemask, it doesn't count as a separate alternate? Isn't that how we got the Bills and the Jets moving to different mask colors the last several years, or did those play into color rush and i am missing something?
  16. I'm so glad I see other folks acknowledging the Lions Stafford era uniforms. They were PERFECT. Full striping agreement and the numbers followed the same pattern, with a very Lion-esque custom font that had way more life than the current one. The addition of black in 2003 wasn't bad, it just wasn't right out of the gate. It helped differentiate them from the Cowboys and also defines the edges around honolulu blue and white much better than silver. The logo was also massively improved. That was the best the Lions have looked since I have been alive.
  17. i can't put my finger on it, but i think you're right. Had something to do with the most blatantly psychopathic human in a position of power on Earth becoming the leader of the free world, and also the Falcons making the Super Bowl
  18. I would attest that the fact the Lions wear their "color rush" dumbassery on Thanksgiving instead of their throwbacks is proof the apocalypse happened and we are living in a failing society.
  19. I think it's pretty obvious here that they had multiple iterations and at some point decided on the number font that matches the old wordmark, then went back and forth and picked the new script font, without realizing those two things are now disconnected. Really bizarre oversight to me. But, looking past that, I love everything else.
  20. Thought this was a funny troll job at first, turns out this person has one of the best batches of concept work I've seen on these boards. Holy crap.
  21. It wouldn’t hurt the Packers to move off the jerseys they have to the Vapor Untouchable template. Tonight’s game just highlights it because the pants are a flat white on new material while the jerseys have that sheen to them. Green Bay’s jerseys just look like what they are — outdated with mesh and screen printed details.
  22. as much as I don't like the St. Louis badge, that shirt is gorgeous. Well done. We really need more kits that have contrasting tops and shorts instead of the monochrome that seemingly swept through the league.
