Sure, but part of "fitting their brand" is having distinction. I'm not one of the people who thinks teams can't look remotely close to each other, but I do think they should put at least "an ounce" of thought into having a unique identity. Part of building a brand is having something you can own. Most people agree the Bears have a pretty strong look, most people would not want to see the Broncos running around in exact copies of the Bears uniforms with a 'D' in lieu of a 'C' just because it looks good.

Simon Fraser University Drops Clan Nickname
Chromatic replied to SportsLogos.Net News's topic in Sports Logo News
Unless things have changed since my time at SFU, there wouldn't have been one regardless. The sports teams at SFU had next to no support. The dumbest thing they did was switching to the NCAA, as it ruined their chances of participating in half decent matchups between other Canadian schools for div 2 opponents. The SFU-UBC crosstown rivalry game had some traction, same could have been with UofC, Alberta, Manitoba, etc. However nobody wants to make the trek up Burnaby Mountain to see them lose decisively to the Lubbock Christian University Chapparals or Permian Basin Falcons. -
They will. It is a cyclical thing after all. I could see them looking for an updated version of the current Capitals uniforms as the edge nonsense remains pretty unpopular, but it is very much a FotM thing. Just like I'm sure the people who screamed for the Coyotes to go back to the Kachinas, or are currently screaming for the Canucks to go back to the skate, Flames to bring back blasty, Islanders to bring back the fishsticks etc will forget about it in a few years and clamour for something else. That said, I do like the Caps reverse retro a lot. I'm not trying to cast aspersions towards it, I just really don't like when people start clamouring for a look just because its trendy.

MLB Stadium Saga: Oakland/Tampa Bay/Southside

Did they really scale it back? I think teams just got wise to how Vegas fleeced them and weren’t going to let it happen a second time.- 3,839 replies

Let's be real, the Raiders are more of a fashion brand than a football team at this point anyway.- 3,839 replies

I also question the viability of a team playing outdoor games in Vegas in the middle of July.- 3,839 replies

Vancouver CPL Crest, Logos Turn Up in Trademark Filings
Chromatic replied to officeglenn's topic in Sports Logo News
I like the concept behind the logo, but I don’t care for the execution. -
Megazord ass helmet.
-
http://icethetics.squarespace.com/storage/blog/KurtenSedinFaceoff.jpgI disagree. Of course, almost any stripes would be better than the zero they inexplicably switched to this year.
-
The chest number is the one thing holding it back. I agree it is amongst the very best the Canucks have ever looked. I will overlook Johnny as well, because while I personally have a soft spot for him, I understand that when it comes to the Canucks logos, none of them are truly good and everyone just has their favourite.
-
Saying they’re named after a “superhero” is a bit of a stretch. The term “Canuck” existed well before the Johnny Canuck cartoon character.
-
Canucks full reverse retro uniform. I gotta say, it looks great in full gear.
-
Fitting, I'll definitely skip the Oilers thanks.

Vancouver CPL Crest, Logos Turn Up in Trademark Filings

I’m surprised they went with “Vancouver” as the location name considering -There’s already a major Vancouver soccer club they could be in direct competition with -Many other CPL teams don’t directly reference their city names -It’s in the Fraser Valley. I would figure they would try to lean more into this identity. -
Disgusting. At least the colours kind of match, but that's a pretty desperate bid for optimism.
-
And Chicago, Dallas and the Rangers, though to lesser extremes.
-
I like the concept behind the logo. The mascots make me question the veracity of this image.
-
More incentive for me to get the blank version. That colour balance is so good. The leaked photos really didn't do it justice. The green looked borderline grey/teal. Good. That jersey was a great idea in concept but had so many inexplicably bad design decisions ruining it.
-
Well it was written by Pee Wee Herman, so no surprises there.
-
I don’t know what the hell is going on with the Canucks numbers, but I’ll still getting one. Definitely blank though.
-
This might be unpopular, but make the socks green, throw some wings on the helmet and that would be a fantastic look for Philly.
-
That would be Travis "Gutless Puke" Green.
-
The youths like that hippity-hop right? Put some royalty free crap in the teasers to grab their attention so the reverse retros can trend for being “Lit Fam” and “Clean AF”.
-
I think the shade being used should come with a grain of salt. We've already seen Vancouver's and their teaser is like an acid green.
