  1. I’m not a Habs fan by any stretch, but seeing a blue and yellow ad patch on that red sweater seems almost blasphemous.
  2. The argument that it won't turn into Euro-league levels of advertising never made much sense to me, considering it was the same justification for why there wouldn't be ads on the uniforms at all.
  3. It's kind of a sad position we're in when my first thought was "Oh that will look okay, at least the orange matches."
  4. For the first time in my life I have a modicum of respect for the Edmonton Oilers.
  5. I'm with you on that. I think it can look really good with silver as well, but never understood the hate for the orange.
  6. I guess this saves the school money on rebranding costs as they can just keep the old 'new' logo.
  7. Awful name, I like the concept behind the logo but I think the beveling is going to make it look dated extremely quickly.
  8. I'm genuinely not trying to Canuckjack the thread here, but I really hope Vegas wears something like this, the Flames keep wearing their blasty fauxbacks, etc because it would ideally make the Canucks flying skate look less prominent and would hopefully quiet down all the people drunk on 90s nostalgia
  9. While Boston and Vancouver did technically have new designs for the EDGE implementation, in practicality not really. They both brought back old jersey patterns. It's not like they brought in uniforms with weird panels and piping specifically made for the EDGE system like Ottawa, Calgary, Pittsburgh, etc.
  10. I think the Kraken similarities are understandable. I don't think it's a good idea, but I understand what they're going for. The Kraken caught the attention of a lot of people in the American parts of the Pacific Northwest towards hockey, and they're trying to capitalize on it. It makes sense if they're rebranding that they'd want to start aping the "local" team as opposed to playing Chicago dressup.
  11. Definitely a nice alt helmet for the REDBLACKS! . I love how they combined the REDBLACKS! logo with the old Rough Riders one, it blends really well. I'm always a fan of when teams are able to successfully modernize and incorporate historical looks into their current identity.
  12. Yup. I also hate the toilet seat half collars. In the end though I’m okay with it because every time you open the door to them changing the uniforms you run the risk of them ruining what is ultimately a really good look by overthinking everything.
  13. The Canucks have never really had a truly good logo, so people just pick their flawed favourite. I started following the Canucks during the West Coast Express years with the navy, royal and red look, and I do feel a pretty strong sense of nostalgia when I see those uniforms. However I recognize they’re inferior in pretty much every way. My biggest thing is keeping the actual uniform design they have right now. The striping is perfect. The colours are perfect, the logo and font aren’t great but I’d hate for them to switch to something more generic and less locally fitting because it’s trendy, because I guarantee you within a few years there would be a groundswell of people clamouring for this look, because that’s what happens every time. I think the solution that would please the most people is to keep the current home and away as is and leave the skates in rotation as a third.
  14. The majority of Canucks fans are very happy with the current look and want more than anything for the team to finally settle on an identity and stop screwing around with the uniforms. The issue is that the team has had so many looks that there are vocal minority camps of people advocating for the one they want in particular, creating a lot more artificial noise around the subject than there really is. And the look they want in particular is almost always the one the team wore when they got into following the Canucks or feel some sort of nostalgia for, not because they like it for the design merits. You also have a lot of non-Canuck fans hyping up the skate because we’re in an era that’s fetishizing 90s nostalgia and it’s “fire bro, lit AF”, so I don’t really care what they have to say on the subject. When the team wore the navy and maroon Orca people did the same thing with the blue and green stick. When they went back to blue and green, people did the same thing with the millionaires. It’s just trendy.
  15. Whenever I see ball players in short I just think of what massive annoyance sliding must be.
  16. I think the uniform as a whole looks good as a Chinese New Year jersey, but I just wanted to say that adding "The Couve" doesn't fit, as NOBODY in Vancouver calls it that. It's a shorthand used exclusively by visitors and it sounds really cringy. It would be like calling Toronto "The Ront" or Washington "The Shing".
  17. Gorgeous. I can't imagine a better use of gradients on a hockey jersey.
  18. Both of these are great, looking forward to the rest of this series.
  19. Yeah it managed to straddle the line well between having a non traditional design while not going full blown garishly "modern" with random panels, piping to nowhere, etc. The one thing I really didn't like it about it was I thought the colour scheme was off. It was a mess of too many shades and muted tones.
  20. I liked the Oilers in orange and wish they kept that look.
  21. Not to Canuck jack the thread, but one thing that really bothered me about the old uniforms with the script is how overloaded with 'C's the Canucks uniforms became. Including the manufacturer's logos, there are 11 Cs in various forms visible in this picture of Henrik Sedin.
  22. Last year's hats had a black base too. It's unfortunate because if these were all in the actual team colours this would be the best crop in years.
  23. Too bad they're not linemen. Much more room on the jersey to work with.
