  1. DC United used scenes from The Office to reveal their 2020 schedule on Twitter. I thought some of you might enjoy this. https://twitter.com/dcunited/status/1207714948257865728?s=20
  2. @QueenCitySwarm can you speak about the excitement surrounding MLS coming to Charlotte? The MLS and MLB seasons run parallel to each other. I am wondering how that might impact the city as a potential MLB site.
  3. MLB is also a league whose fan base is trending older and realizes it needs to attract younger fans. I once wrote on these boards that I thought MLB uniforms would remain conservative in nature with Nike because traditionally the sport is. The more I think about it, the less sure I am that will be true. Nike has almost full range in the NBA. The NFL actually has some uniform constraint in their rules. Where does that leave MLB? A 162 game schedule leaves a lot to experiment with.
  4. One on each sleeve would be much, much better.
  5. Simply put, like @Dolphins Dynasty said, baseball jerseys have too much open real estate for the swoosh to not look ridiculous. Then again, that is sort of the point from Nike’s perspective.
  6. If we’re posting every time a swoosh is seen on a team’s player for the first time...
  7. It’s fine to think this, but it has nothing to do with the Yankees.
  8. What makes you think this? The Yankees abstaining from the TATC promotion did not stop the other teams. They don’t speak for the league.
  9. Why would MLB step in? They are already getting their money from Nike. Why would they risk upsetting a commercial partner? It is up to Nike to get the best return they can. Now simple economics takes over. If Nike determines that their current price point is significantly hurting demand, they might adjust. I would bet that they are banking on, as with everything that has changed in the baseball uniform landscape the last few years, a period of fan outrage followed by eventual acceptance.
  10. The Marlins jersey has an orange backdrop? Should be blue or black. IMO the swoosh looks worst on the Yankees, Tigers and Cubs because there is nothing else on that side of the uniform. It is in no man’s land.
  11. Powder blue for powder blue sake (PBFPBS) feels like it is becoming a thing. Maybe it is just a coincidence that the Rangers are doing it the worst so far, much like they were during the BFBS period.
  12. And they are a business that is out to profit off their uniform deal, but the trade issue has impacted New Era. Increased costs are rarely absorbed by a brand.
  13. I am not trying to be political, and hopefully someone who knows better can enlighten me, but I wonder if the Nike jersey prices are a reflection of a double whammy. Fanatics says they are made in the USA, so one might conclude there are higher production costs compared to foreign made items. With that said, does anyone know where the actual materials for the jerseys are made? Could there be a higher material cost due to the current state of trade between the US and China?
  14. Nike just saw this and now we are all doomed.
  15. FWIW, I also thought the Twins were a purple and red team growing up. Aside from early 90s baseball cards, paired with the Metrodome’s lighting, I had a Twins sundae helmet that appeared to be a dark shade of purple.
  16. Attending Game 7 of the 2011 World Series. I was standing in line to enter Busch Stadium for Game 4 of the NLCS (the Brewers won) when I got the email inviting me to purchase World Series tickets. By this time, they were fairly picked over by season ticket holders and previous rounds of invitations. I wanted to take my dad to a World Series game, and the only game I could afford 2 tickets to was Game 7. I texted my dad and told him to hope for a wild ride if the Cards won the pennant not knowing what lied ahead in Game 6 and David Freese's heroics. Watching your team win a championship in-person is an incredible experience. If you ever have the chance, buy the tickets.
  17. Ben Frederickson of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch said on Dan McLaughlin's podcast that he has been told the St. Louis name and colors will come during the first-half of 2020. That is a big time frame, by his own admission, but it is an update.
  18. I should have been more specific. A three pronged pitchfork is also a symbol used by GDK and their allies. Either way, it makes me uneasy.
  19. I considered not saying this but it’s true. There is some serious tone deafness in this logo. The logo itself has a pitchfork appearance to it. Besides selecting a color scheme that might attract La Liga fans, it could also be adopted by gang culture inside Chicago. Getting close to that should have been avoided.
  20. Exactly. The fans I have met, as a teacher, have typically been Barca or Real Madrid fans. They may be aware of MLS, but they weren’t big fans of it.
  21. I wonder if the move to a Barcelona look, as has been suggested, is an attempt to tap into the Latino La Liga fan base that resides in and around Chicago. I don’t think this change will accomplish that. Just thinking out loud.
  22. I don’t have a source to back this up, but I think we’re due for a new crop of BP hats. Maybe Barrel Man will make his debut then.
  23. The wheat baseball patch is a bit munch on the uniform, and I don’t think it’s that great of a logo.
