  1. It takes a lot more than candidates for Canton to make up a great NFL team. IMO, it’s more important to have a lot of really good players to complement the stars than it is to have the stars themselves. Beyond Mahomes and Kelce? There’s only Creed Humphrey, Trey Smith, Joe Thuney, Isaiah Pacheco, Chris Jones, Nick Bolton, Trent McDuffie, Harrison Butker, Tommy Townsend and L’Jarius Sneed (and Feed) . Yeah, a bunch of practice squad guys for sure.
  2. If I'm doing anything with the schedule aside from Vet's brilliant suggestion, it's get rid of Thursday football games outside of Thanksgiving and stop guaranteeing nationally televised games for every team. Who the hell wants to watch the Cardinals play the Texans outside of sadomasochists?
  3. Chris Jones ends his holdout with a new one year deal. I’m curious how this is going to work out considering everything. Will his conditioning be up to speed? Still, glad to have him back.
  4. Forget about changing the name, the Commies ought to change out the whole goddamn team before they lose to the Cardinals.
  5. Kelce cannot come back soon enough. Seeing Chris Jones flanked by discount Sopranos was pretty funny, though and the defense actually doing alright weakened his position a bit. Still, I thought it would be close and that there would be a shot Detroit would win. They're going to be a hell of a team. Wouldn't be shocked if they made it to the NFC Championship Game or even beyond.
  6. I’ll give them this. Philadelphia is equal opportunity. They’ll love anyone who produces and hate anyone who doesn’t. You at least know where you stand.
  7. On the flip side is that Brady and Mahomes are good at turning opportunities like that into tangible results better than most players. My two cents, take it for what it’s worth. Then again, Philadelphia is rough on anyone who isn’t a perennial champion. I’m just glad Andy Reid never decided to dress up as Santa Claus when he coached the Eagles. He’d never make it out alive.
  8. That got ruled out. Didn’t escape my attention that he didn’t say anything about the logo, though.
  9. I think the zeitgeist for any kind of change like that has passed. That and the “pass” they get is having the face of the league.
  10. The NFL hasn't been the same since the 2011 CBA banned two a day practices. Which, hey, can't blame the players too much on it because two a day practices in the summer heat SUUUUUCK! I used to play football in high school, I'd know. And I had the "fortune" of wearing a black jersey. But, between that and one less preseason game, the early part of the year is just....hard to watch without a rooting interest. Part of what makes the NFL a total crapshoot, but that's the fun of it. You really don't know who is going to be great or awful until 5 games into the season and even that may be too soon.
  11. Aside from maybe Eagles at Patriots or Dolphins at Chargers? No, they all look just awful.
  12. It’s that time of year again! 13. My favorite part of this site! Detroit vs. Kansas City Cincinnati vs. Cleveland Houston vs. Baltimore Tampa Bay vs. Minnesota Carolina vs. Atlanta Arizona vs. Washington Jacksonville vs. Indianapolis San Francisco vs. Pittsburgh Tennessee vs. New Orleans Las Vegas vs. Denver Philadelphia vs. New England LA Rams vs. Seattle Miami vs. LA Chargers Green Bay vs. Chicago Dallas vs. NY Giants Buffalo vs. NY Jets
  14. I'm just looking forward to Opening Night. The Lions are the popular dark horse team this year, but I personally would've taken Buffalo, Cincinnati or Philadelphia instead. Eh, beggars can't be choosers and actually getting to see a full house see a banner unveiling is something I'm looking forward to watching.
  15. Angel Hernandez told by court, "No, racism isn't the reason you haven't been allowed to be an umpire for the World Series since '05, it's because you suck at your job"
  16. Sports gambling is weird in general. At a casino, it's your own damn fault if you lose $100 playing poker, but if you bet $100 on the game and lose because of a dropped pass or a dodgy penalty then it's someone else's fault. Really it's your own damn fault still for betting $100 on something completely out of your control but let's not take it to it's logical conclusion.
  17. "It's a private company, they can do whatever they want." -Someone, somewhere, probably making more than me
  18. Okay, fair enough. It felt like as time went on, though, that MU did give way to Mizzou if not in the athletic department's marketing then certainly in the public opinion.
  19. I don't think I've heard many, if any, refer to the University of Missouri as MU. Mizzou on the other hand...... KU I've heard all the time and Kansas State is almost always referred to as K-State. And on that note, no one under the age of 70 or pandering politicians pronounces Missouri as "Missouruh".
  20. It wouldn't shock me all things considered what with the NFC turning into the AFC of the 80s and 90s. Would be hilarious if the NFL's Opening Night game winds up being the Super Bowl.
  21. As a Mizzou fan, I completely agree that they shouldn’t have left. But the Longhorn Network was the final straw in a long line of Texas acting like it owned the whole conference and that just wasn’t going to do it anymore. And money, of course money. Really, the first mistake was letting in the refugees from the Southwest Conference or at the very least, not treating the University of Texas-Austin like post WWI Germany. Still, the Longhorns and the University of Texas Athletic Department.
  22. Typically it’s the teams that are fly-by-night operations in arena football, not the league itself. Also, really looking forward to seeing the Goats. Found my old Brigade jersey too!
  23. Warren Moon as a Kansas City Chief And for an additional bit of weirdness, Mike Vrabel as a Chief in those Texans uniforms they wore in 2009. They were playing the Cowboys and I believe this was Miles Austin’s breakout game too. And this is Larry Johnson carrying the ball in that same game in one of his last games as a Chief. Guy got hit in the head so many times he believes in QAnon now.
  24. Same energy as the janitor demanding better treatment or they'll leave. There are a lot of unemployed former college football players who could put on a set of pads and run for 800 yards. It's not the 90s anymore
