  1. Intelligence is getting into Stanford. Wisdom is knowing that no one wants to hear you brag about that crap and that if you’re going to beg them for welfare, maybe insulting them isn’t a good idea.
  2. Sorry for the double post, but if the Renegades do manage to win the XFL Championship, I’ll send you a Luis Perez jersey.
  3. Of course. As much as I hate this current format, I understand that this format is how it was set up and the players and coaches knew this going in and planned accordingly and had it been the format everyone besides Ferdie wants then they'd plan differently and we'd have a different season. That being said, it's still stupid because anyone with half a brain could see something like this coming. EDIT: And here are Week 10's TV ratings and I do emphasize TV because streaming isn't included. Would be interested to know what those numbers are. Looks like they finished with an average of 622,000 viewers.
  4. I’m more surprised that they didn’t play this at Philadelphia Union’s stadium. Feels like it would be more successful there.
  5. I think it would just be less complicated to just have the division winners face the two teams with the best records that didn’t win their division.
  6. Sucks the Battlehawks didn’t make it, but, they should’ve beat Seattle when they had the chance. Still, I’ve been pleasantly surprised with the quality of the XFL’s play so far. I look forward to next week’s games. Particularly DC vs Seattle
  7. Considering that I don't think I've ever seen people talk about the Arizona Cardinals this much, changing the uniform is a good idea on paper. They really don't have a legacy as franchise age alone doesn't make a legacy. So, why not get a fresh coat of paint? It's easier than actually putting a good product on the field.
  8. To each his own. Again, he's really knowledgeable and that's always a plus, but he's too pompous for my tastes. Social graces don't hurt.
  9. I wish I had never heard of JaguarGator9. Smart guy but the man can’t help himself from talking down to his audience as if they’ve never heard of football or whatever sport he’s covering before.
  10. Things make a lot more sense if you think of head coaches like politicians. Makes sense why a promise from them is worth nothing.
  11. Pretty sure the Canadian dollar’s value against the US dollar was a reason too. But as far as I’m concerned, abandoning a solid source of revenue and money for something that might potentially make more money doesn’t sound like a strong business plan. I get why they did it, I still think it’s stupid.
  12. I think it's a lot simpler even if I agree that there's some of that subtext in what the NHL is doing: Gary Bettman was hired from the NBA. Gary Bettman wanted to make the NHL as big as the NBA. So he expanded into non-traditional markets like the NBA, experimented with ridiculous uniform trends like the NBA, had lockouts like the NBA and now wants to have engagement on social media like the NBA. Slow monkey see, slow monkey do three years later.
  13. Neko Sparks? Is this some kind of joke? Sounds like the NHL is about to get zapped to the extreme.
  14. To the surprise of no one, the XFL has its lowest ratings of the year going up against the NCAA Tournament
  15. Every other game through the end of the season besides Houston at DC (Monday night) in Week 6 and Seattle at Arlington (Friday night) in Week 7 is going to be on Saturday or Sunday so we should get a much better feel for the markets in question. It's football. If it's on, I watch it.
  16. I don’t care about what Favre and Rodgers did or said off the field and making the playoffs every year hasn’t stopped people from calling the 91-2005 Braves underachievers.
  17. He's a sports writer, expecting proper English is too much for him.
  18. I can't think of a team that wasted generational talent more than the 1992-2021 Green Bay Packers. You had two Hall of Fame quarterbacks along with having so many playmakers on both sides of the ball you'd think they would be more accomplished than two titles in 30 years.
  19. I'd say it's at least a better strategy than assembling the All-Star Team of 5 seasons prior.
  20. Only explanation I can think of is that this stadium had the cheapest lease.
  21. Orlando isn’t going to win a single game all year and a lot of it is because they lack any sense of organization.
  22. Makes me wonder what happened to Abel. And yeah, even before the extent of CTE was known, there was a general idea that players who played a game where they got hit in the head repeatedly over 20-30 years (from childhood-high school) might go on to have brain issues. Sort of like how it would make sense that inhaling smoke is probably bad for your lungs. Then again, if AstroTurf kept the original name of ChemGrass, the association between it and brain cancer would’ve probably been publicized far sooner.
