  1. Press branding Ctrl-Z on the shade of orange haha Though I wouldn't mind if they went back to wearing orange/white/orange and using light blue trim like they used to...
  2. I think so! Apparently the CFC ownership used to be really sour on the now-dead MLS/USL alliance and that influenced their decision, but the situation is different now so I'm sure there's been some buyer's remorse. On the other hand, no idea if it's true, but I've also heard a rumor that, during those CFC/USL talks, the Red Wolves ownership group actually swooped in and gave a better offer to USL that CFC was unwilling to match.
  3. Apparently the Chattanooga Red Wolves of USL League 1 have been successfully sued for trademark infringement by Arkansas State University. Kinda hard for me to understand since "Red Wolves" seems pretty generic, but I'm no lawyer. It sounds like most folks just want Chattanooga FC to bail on their upcoming move to MLS Next Pro, and replace the Red Wolves in USL, but barring that, it will be interesting to see how they rebrand. Such a nice logo! Do we know who designed it? And will this team play at the Rowdies' stadium at first?
  4. The deep sea diver was basically the idea for the mascot I was hoping the Kraken would go with before they unveiled Buoy, so I'm glad to see it get some use somewhere. Not totally sold on all of the warm colors and the logos have a lot going on, but the ideas are solid and the S+anchor is excellent! In fact, almost all of the alternate logos are excellent and surpass the primaries IMO. I'm loving Charlotte's branding as a whole a lot. That Baltimore alternate is pretty good too! Ottawa looks good, but feels more like a Dallas team with a Pegasus and those colors; the alternate with the lightning is much better IMO. Maybe I just hate fun but Tampa Bay's is a bit too silly for me, and idk, is "Snowbird" usually used as an insult? Also I don't get it, are these all brands for one new touring team? Or are they alternate brands for existing teams when they play out-of-market games... and if so, is it one-to-one (e.g. Vancouver is always Seattle, Saskatchewan is always Minnesota, etc.) or can any team be any brand at any given time? The MiLB-style names don't help though haha
  5. OMG I wish! Thanks for the kind words. I mean Lyon kinda had to sell for legal/conflict-of-interest reasons that no one could've predicted when they first bought us... But a sale to the Sounders seems like a solid place to land and stay for a long time to come!
  6. And now the women's side for Spokane has released its branding: Not the best either IMO. The waves on this are a bit better than the men's counterpart IMO, and I imagine this will look much better without a container, but I wish the text were placed differently, especially that "FC". Could make for a cool jersey pattern though!
  7. I just started taking intro level Mandarin, and the class gave an assignment to draw posters for upcoming sporting events ( 这个星期有什么比赛? ) Basically the perfect assignment for me, haha! So I took the opportunity to create some Mandarin wordmarks for the Sounders and Reign. 西雅图 = xīyătú = Seattle (it literally translates to "western elegant picture" which is perfect IMO!) 海湾者 = hăiwān zhĕ = [bay/gulf/body of water] people ≈ Sounders. This translation comes straight from Wikipedia. EDIT: 御极 = yù jí = ascend to the throne / utmost control ≈ Reign. I really scoured the dictionary to make a pun like "Reign", so this is meant to sound like 雨季 = yǔ jì = rainy season! IMO Wikipedia's translation of 君主 = jūn zhǔ = monarchs seemed kinda underwhelming. EDIT: For the Reign name, I originally went with 御宝 = yù bǎo = royal treasure, a pun of 暴雨 = bào yŭ = rainstorm and/or 预报 = yù bào = weather forecast... But at the advice of my professor and Reddit users u/ygao70 and u/nails8485, I switched to the aforementioned 御极. 谢谢他们 for their help! You can see my original version here! I don't know if this pun comes across very well to a Mandarin speaker, so if anyone here knows Mandarin, your advice would be appreciated! 谢谢! Also, my original drawing version that I turned in (since the professor wanted to see our handwriting.) Hopefully my silly little drawings are recognizable!
  8. The logo and jersey concepts are really solid, and you're right about the Superior name working better with HC after it. The light flash/Polaris idea is so clever! Only complaint is that I'm not totally feeling the lighthouse on the breezers; I'd go with a series of those 4 pointed stars and one 8 pointed star in a different color, running down the sides vertically.

    Arizona Coyotes

You had the away jersey right from the start! Beautiful jerseys. Red & orange reminds me of a mesa or a canyon. Only suggestion would be to change the collar colors to red with black trim away and black with orange trim at home.
  10. Boston should've gone with @mcrosby's NWSL concept name & logo and still kept what, presumably, is a Salem witchcraft theme: "New York Sound" is the only name that sounds at all usable as-is; is the implication that they'll play on Long Island? Toronto could've been "Torchbearers," which sounds a lot better to me and would have evoked a nice activist imagery, but I agree it sounds more Montreal or Winnipeg to me. At least it's better than 6. If they go with mythological Echo in Montreal, that might make for somewhat interesting branding, like a Narcissus flower, but that tale's awfully grim and kinda evokes a lack of any agency RIP Minnesota Whitecaps and NY Riveters branding. Why must you die for this
  11. Thank you both! Happy to hear my salvage attempt was a success : P Glad you like the jersey! Yeah, I agree somewhat, but IMO the Galaxy should always wear yellow and green for their away kits; it's always good to rep your history. That said, here is a jersey in teal & sand repurposed from an old Wave concept. It's the beach!
  12. I just don't get why they would still mess up the jersey like that after announcing the logo redesign process like almost 2 years ago : ( Oh thank goodness
  13. I actually intentionally kept the crest colors, since I figured that'd be appropriate for the first year with a new brand system... (Plus the Timbers have done something similar with their old neon yellow on their throwback jerseys.) But certainly it looks better matching. Also, here's some more options; a white 1982 throwback, and a black 1997 throwback:
  14. Thank you! Glad you like it, though I worry it's too throwback Galaxy-esque... Glad you think it's an improvement! A jersey concept inspired by the facade of the Balboa Theatre.
  15. And last up, what the Sounders really should be wearing in 2024... (instead of whatever this sad leak is meant to be...) 1978 fauxback at home. 1982 fauxback on the road. 1994 fauxback third. 'Nuff said. As always, your C&C is greatly appreciated, and thanks for checking out this series that spans my entire concept-creating career! I hope to have the pleasure of seeing you lovely folks again on this thread sometime before the 2024 NWSL season after the Reign sale is finalized.
  16. Here's the name the Tacoma affiliate should have gone with, IMO: The Tides name has history from 1976 (in the American Soccer League) and from 2006 to 2011 (in the USL PDL, now USL League 2), making it by far the biggest name in Tacoma outdoor soccer. The name only died again when the Sounders bought the team and de-branded it "Sounders U23." (This was in the sorta 2008-2013 era where the Sounders seemed to want nothing to do with local soccer history for some dumb reason.) It seems right to restore a legacy brand to the region! The logo uses a font (Clarendon Wide) that splits the difference between the 1976 and 2007 Tides, and showcases Tahoma over the East 21st Street Bridge and a 1976 Tides-style wave. The alternate logo is a straight 2007 Tides fauxback logo. At home, the team wears a gray Tacoma Dome triangle-patterned jersey. On the road, the Tides wear a 2006 fauxback yellow jersey with an East 21st Street Bridge 3/4 profile view. As with the last alternate logo This logo was designed to pair with either my Concept 3 or the previous IRL Sounders logo. You can see my original attempt below, as well as a way to match the new logo:
  17. How could they switch to the cyan outline and the deeper dark blue, and then change the green and the application blue to have even lower contrast with the outline? And to top it off they fauxback to the ugly 2006 template... I really hope this isn't anything close to real... The lighter green decision better not be just to ensure green vs green against Portland and Austin. Third jerseys are the only real solution. I had so much hope when they released this mockup and this fauxback shirsey; they should've just made a jersey out of this for next year:
  18. Now that the team has released its vector logo, here's the less aliased version, both in the original colors and in teal and sand like @VampyrRabbit wanted: And with @B-Rich's family's name idea, which I liked quite a bit! This one uses the SD monogram that the team released that is actually quite solid.
  19. It seems that, unfortunately, the Tacoma Defiance brand is probably not long for this world, but nevertheless here's a concept! IMO, the IRL Defiance logo has way too much detail in some places (waves, tentacles) and way too little in others (boat, roundel container)... and the composition is just not great. I just attempted to simplify the design and make it cohesive, while also adding a bit of Tacoma soccer history. I add a ship wheel, cuz why not? The waves and wordmark idea are inspired by the original 1976 Tacoma Tides team of the American Soccer League. The home jersey is dark dark gray (I like gray as a main color for Tacoma, as inspired by this "Grit City Gray" concept by @BagelHK), with a Museum of Glass design. The away is a 1976 Tides fauxback, with subtle chevron stripes based on the iconic East 21st Street Bridge. Also, here are some versions to match a couple of my Sounders concepts. I think either 6 or 8 would work with the new IRL Sounders logo (especially since I tweaked the hull to match that shield shape!) Kind of a shame that this latest iteration of Tacoma outdoor soccer seems to be totally over (now that the Defiance play in Tukwila again and will play in Renton starting next year...) I think probably the best thing would be for the Defiance brand to go independent, maybe join USL League 1 or League 2... And I'd be curious if the Stadium Bowl downtown would be viable...? Last up, I'll give you an alternate take on Tacoma!
  20. Yeah the quality of the leaked logo image was pretty low too, not to mention it had a bajillion gradients to paint away haha! Thanks! I doubt the original motif was actually meant to be anything to do with a wave but I'm glad I could make it work! And yeah the arch was for some local flair. All the colors here are on the actual logo, but if you mean with the gradient outline, I could give that a try!
  21. Just took a sec to tweak the leaked SDFC logo. The logo as-is is just too generic (I agree with @MJWalker45 who said it looks like a league logo)... ...so I semi-ripped off took inspiration from the Wave and Loyal with my edit: C&C appreciated. I might come back and do a jersey after my Seattle soccer series is over.
  22. This is such a great start to the series! The Concordes jerseys are really cool, with a nice hint of Space Age! I like the little contrail inlines in the numbers. That logo would work so well for a Seattle Sonics return (beats my attempt at something similar, haha!) Only complaint is that the sonic boom rings feel busy (and redundant with that big ring container)... How does it look without them? Also, not necessary, but would you consider adding a blue triangular shoulder yoke on the road? Your Magpies logo gives Eagles vibes in a really good way; all the good things without the bad : D Jerseys are quite nice too, though I'd be tempted to make the top half of the sleeves black at home instead of white. I hadn't seen your old concept series before, but I do quite like it, especially Watford, Swansea, and Arsenal. Your angular, full body Magpie is quite nice in that series! Birmingham's jerseys look so classic, and the logo is nice (especially with the ring) in a modern way... Although I have nothing but praise to say about either on its own, it's almost like they don't really match with each other? IDK I don't really have any suggestions though... Excited to see the next entries!
  23. CEUB looks great; that flag icon is so nice in a roundel! I am curious how it would look with a blue outline then the white outline, not just the white outline... Huge upgrade for Rodelino Roman; no notes! Totally appreciate the simplification for Puebla, and I agree that the ideas (not execution) behind that old logo are certainly better than the generic crest they have now. I would consider simplifying a bit more, by removing the blue ground, enlarging the castle so it meets the bottom of the inner roundel, and moving "19" and "44" to the sides of the outer roundel. Not feeling the roundel for Sheffield Wednesday. The quarter circles one is definitely the best of those options, but I kinda feel like the '70s crest works better without a container. Your font choice is excellent, though!
  24. By the way, here are the iterations that led to all of the logos you've seen: If any of these stand out to you, feel free to ask, and I'll post a closeup. That's it for Sounders and Reign logos for now! Which one is your favorite? To finish this series off, I'll be posting two Tacoma minor-league affiliate concepts soon!
