  1. Upon the mve to Brooklyn, the Nets went from different shades of RWB to B/W.
  2. And Cleveland just happened to release their set when the league switched uniform providers? 5 other teams changed as well, and they didn't have the same situation as the Cavs. I don't know whether the team wanted to switch because of a new template, or the template forced them to, but the change defintely involved the Nike switch.
  3. My theory is that these, along with the Wolves, Clippers, Nuggets, Pacers and Suns' jerseys in 2017, were impossible for Nike to create on their new template, so they just made new designs (which is how we got the last Cavs set with bevels and stuff). Then Cleveland goes and gets an artist who specializes in minimalistic art, and has him design a basketball uniform, which are known for having at least some design elements. This is how we got here. And I fear for the future.
  4. But it's the same franchise. The name doesn't change the founding date. If they changed locations, team name and branding, and explicity stated that they were different from the previous franchise (like BAL in '96), then you should change the year founded. Going by @Cujo's logic, Justin Herbert plays for the team that started in 2017, and LaDanian Tomlinson played for the team that started in 1961* until 2016. *(the move from LA to SD)
  5. The NBA is getting their version of the 2000's NFL
  6. If you look closely, there is trim on all 3 jerseys, they just are the same color as the base. It won't show up on TV, but it's something. They took this identity and stripped it of everything that made it good:
  7. I don't hate them, only because the shiny elements on the wordmarks are nice, but I don't love it, 'cuz they are glorified practice jerseys.
  8. If it's the same franchise, why does it matter what year they moved? The orgin date for these teams don't start in their new city, @Cujo
  9. And if we must do this trivial number thing: Bills: 60 Dolphins: 66 Patriots: 60 Jets: 60 Ravens: 96 Bengals: 68 Browns: 46 Steelers: 33 Texans: 02 Colts: 53 Jaguars: 95 Titans: 60 Broncos: 60 Chiefs: 60 Raiders: 60 Chargers: 60 Cowboys: 60 Eagles: 25 Giants: 33 Commies: 32 Bears: 20 Lions: 30 Packers: 21 Vikings: 61 Falcons: 66 Panthers: 95 Saints: 67 Buccaneers: 76 Cardinals: 20 Rams: 36 49ers: 46 Seahawks: 76
  10. I wonder why this comes up as often as it does. You got your team back, Cleveland, and odds are your team doesn't become the team that wins the SB in 2001 without moving to Baltimore. Why does it matter if the NFL pretends the '46-'96 and '99-now Browns are the same franchise? As long as the Ravens don't try to claim the Browns history (and I'm pretty sure they legally can't), there should be no valid reason to keep discussing this topic in every NFL thread each year.
  11. Something just looks right without the ad patch. This looks like a professional franchise, the one Michael Jordan played for, as opposed to a team who let greed be displayed atop their uniforms. The Nike patch doesn't bother me as much, becaise the top of the jersey seems less cluttered with just one patch (in team colors).
  12. That is true, but for what other reasons would Irving want to play for LA? Multiple reports from numerous sources (some reliable, like Shams, others not so much, like Stephen A.) have said Kyrie is commited to forcing himself to LA, and he has talked to Bron over the phone. Kyrie may be eecentric, but he's not stupid. He knows going to LA means playing second (likely third) fiddle to LBJ and/or AD. He tried to macho thing in Boston, and he knew it failed because he signed up to play #2 to KD in Brooklyn. IDK if Darvin Ham has the capacity to get players to buy in like Steve Kerr, but Kyrie should be an easy sell. The COVID restrictions are another thing, and you're right about that uncertainty being a side-show (see, BKN, circa 2022). But so far the only restrictions would be in NY(where they lifted them), Toronto, and San Fran. We can't predict when and where restrictions might be placed, but I think the culture Coach Ham is trying to build will be more stable then Brooklyn's.
  13. If you make it just blue and red, it's now: Pats Texans Titans Giants Bills But with Arizona, Tampa Bay, Washington, San Francisco, and Kansas City, I think that's enough red-first teams.
  14. This is the same guy who did the Spurs leak (although every knew about that by then, so grains of salt neccessary.) And another bad photoshop:
  15. I'd rather have a borderline All-Star with baggage than an over-the-hill MVP with baggage. Plus, with LBJ running the ship in Cleveland, you didn't hear much "Krazy Kyrie" stories, other than the "flat earth".
  16. what about dem colors tho? Baby blue and orange returning would be great. They could potentially base thier identity off of these:
  17. I think this is it. @Sport in another thread spoke of someone with insider knowledge saying "the all-white helmet will be paired with a throwback" or something like that. What if Cincy designates this former CR as the throwback, and wears the white helmet with that?
  18. Well..that change was sort of neccessary, while a Clips change would be more for asthetic reasons.
  19. The NFL is not the NBA, and both sports, at least fuctionality-wise, operate different. Winning a division in the NFL is 10x more important than in the NBA. The NFL, up until this year, was much more strict on brand regcognition than the NBA was. Just because the NFL has a problem with something doesn't mean the NBA will, and vice versa.
  20. If nothing else, sports (fans specifically) are sentimental, so the weight of winning as the LA Clippers would mean so much more to that franchise than as the Inglewood Condors or whatever. If Cleveland or Toronto had changed thier name and brand before wining their respective first championships, do you think it would mean as much? Cleveland's 52-year sports curse being broken by the Cleveland Moondogs doesn't sound as special.
  21. Cinncinati Clownfish. Between the 1990s and last year, that name would have accuarately reflected the team.
  22. ...so...uh...that was a real nice Cavs photoshop the other day...right?
  23. Since you seem to be getting confused, let's make this clear: your ability to make an NBA logo is not whatw e are talking about. The question at hand is "why do you think the Jazz rebrand is better than the Nets'?" Also, hiding a court pattern inside of a stripe and recoloring old stripes don't carry the same weight. Brooklyn's jerseys also have collar, shoulder and shorts trim, unlike the Jazz's practice jersey look.
