  1. It's interesting how certain markets will broadcast NFL games if the team's QB played in the area, like Tua and Miami being shown in Alabama.
  2. So...question. As someone who is rather ignorant to sports not named basketball or football, I'd like to know what you guys consider basic knowledge for a hockey uniform fan. I'm hoping you guys can give me a crash course in hockey aesthetics (hence the thread name). Here are a few questions: What do tradional jerseys look like? What do modern jerseys look like? What is the Edge template, and why do we hate it? Who has the best uniforms in the league? Who has the worst? What is the best looking ice (court?) design? Do any of the design principals of bball and football apply to hockey? why or why not?
  3. From a practicality standpoint, you are correct, but for me personally, it just bugs me for teams like the Bears & Chiefs, who actually went into the 2000s keeping the stripes and the TV numbers on the sleeve (when most teams switched to TV numbers on the shoulders), to finally cave in and make the change. While they are obviously the same team, my mind keeps saying that the current version is innaccurate because of the shoulder TV numbers.
  4. This is shaping up to be the worst batch of City jerseys since the first year. (2018, right?)
  5. I wish they would wear something like this:
  6. To BBTV's point, the team where this has bothered me the most is the KC Chiefs. Their stripe is supposed to go around the cuff, like so: ...nowadays they just terminate at the seam:
  7. What striping pattern would you use, though? The Chargers have no stripes anywhere on the jersey or stadium, and putting the bolt on the socks would look horrendous. Side note: at the beginning of the game, I thought the Chargers looked too bottom heavy, and they should switch to blue facemasks. But as the game went on, the uniform grew on me, and the numbers provided just enough blue to balance the socks, thus creating a near-perfect look.
  8. It's just unsightly to see stripes (like Cleveland, for example) on the chestplate, especially when we are used stripes being on the shoulders and sleeves. I liked that Reebox would (unlike Nike) move their logo to accomodate the sleeve design.
  9. Your first sentence invalidates your second. If you know that this is a uniform disscusion board (where we, IDK, discuss aspects of uniforms?), then why are ou complaining that we are doing the very thing this site was created for us to do. If ya don't like it,
  10. Like @Digby said, that Lakers jersey is a beautiful alternate, but the fact that it replaces the traditional purple and white is a crime against humanity. Every generation of Lakers jerseys since forum blue was introduced has had a purple road jersey.
  11. So far, I've only seen the Titans Tracker account call them that. It's probably a spoof on Tennessee country or some BS like that, because no one calls any type of pants "britches".
  12. I'm going to preface this by saying that I don't think the Vikes jerseys are overrated, becuase I don't want there to be any confusion. However, I think part of the novelty of Minnesota's new uniforms was the fact that they had looked absolutely horrendous beforehand, and since we're (almost) 10 years removed from that, the new-ness of it is starting to wear off. While the set is great, it's definitely starting to reek of mid-2010s, and ten years from now, if Minny is still wearing them, we're gonna look back and be amazed how this set had lasted that long. Obviously, I don't speak for @infrared41, and I'm not trying to. But the Vikings set is starting to show its age.
  13. Looks like it's influenced by FX's Atlanta. Even if not, it's still a beautiful jersey, and that peach and red combo should be the Hawks main colors.
  14. He wouldn't be able to until he retires, which, by the time Vegas gets a team (2025-ish), could be a very real possiblity.
  15. Either they split into 8 divisions (2 in each conf.) of 4 like the NFL, or they go outrageous and delete divisions, change the schedule to like 70 games, and add a midseason tournament.
  16. The Ravens, Texans, Panthers, Chiefs, and Commanders don't have usable or relevant* throwbacks that they can wear. That's 15% percent of the league that would be left out. *Kansas City switches a facemask and helmet logo for thier throwback, but that's not a throwback jersey the league can sell (which would be their only motivation to do a league-wide Classic Week), and Washington's situation is well documented. Only thing they can throwback to is a late 50's leather helmet and a stripeless, single colored number jersey.
  17. If this is true: The Good: Orlando looks to be top tier, and I'm glad they brought back pinstripes for the blue jersey. A deeper drop shadow for Philly, so that's ok. No change for Boston Denver actually knows how to properly use 3 colors? Wow! Phoenix was probably told they couldn't keep the Valley jerseys, but this is a suitable replacement. Brooklyn is nice, and I'm glad they're moving out of Spurs territory with thier old gray statement. The Bad-ish: Memphis is here soley because the wordmark is huge. Meh for Mem. New York needs white outlines instead of blue, but ok. Clips are ok, simply combining the old sails with last years city jersey is ok. Dallas, you've already had a nice navy blue jersey, and if you wanted the shoulder loops, just bring back the OG road jersey. The Ugly: Minnesota...what are you doing? Portland looks like they're bringing back the sleeved, one color logo X-mas jerseys from 2013 Why LA?? This is such a stray from tradition. This would look great as an alternate, just like the Magic Johnson City did. But to have no traditional purple/gold/white jersey is sacrilege.
  18. Overreaction Time! LA doesn't (and never really did) have much depth. Last year they filled their roster with stars like Von Miller & OBJ so that their counterparts (Kupp & Donald, respectively) would be free to wreak havok. With both of them now gone, the defense can focus on Kupp and Donald, and their impact is not erased, but limited. Jalen Ramsey is overrated. I literally watched him get completely burnt on the last TD to Stefon Diggs. His name was not mentioned other than thta one deflection to prevent another Bills TD. Buffalo win win the Super Bowl. I'm convinced. I wasn't worried about the offense, because I trust Allen, Diggs, and Isaiah McKenzie to figure it out. The defense (even though they were No. 1 DVOA) was worrisome in that KC game, but the shut down LA last night, forcing enough turnovers to offset their own.
  19. I agree. Them winning the Super Bowl (iN tHeIr HoMe StAdIuM!) has warped everyone's perception of them. Remember, they went 0-4 in the entire month of November, and many were doubting their chance of winning the SB up until them beating Tampa in the Divisional Round. Them losing both Von Miller (who takes pressure off of Aaron Donald) and OBJ (who takes pressure off of Cooper Kupp) are huge blows, and they no longer have Andrew Whitworth manning down center. They won't crumble completely, but they're not going back to the 'Bowl.
  20. New York Jets The most memorable moments of Jets history, from Broadway Joe to the Butt Fumble, have come wearing the Naimath-era set. No matter how many time they try to incorporate black and kelly green, the shoulder color blocks and stripes are quintessential New York Jets. The 1963-77, 1998-2018 set returns, with the accompanying Hunter Green (but not the Nike version). New "Gotham Nights" black alternate, utilizing the 90's kelly green. Throwback is to the 1990-97 black trimmed version of the "New York Sack Exchange" uniforms.
