It probably should, but the balk off can only happen if the game is tied at the bottom of the ninth, or later, with a runner on third. Those scenarios don't come around every day.

It almost happened just now, but it was the bottom of the eight, not bottom of the ninth, in San Francisco.

It is not true guys, but it is interesting that they high tailed out of town during the 50s when the Yankees were owning MLB for the last 30+ years. Jeez.

It would be interesting if they had stuck around for another decade while the Yankees had their lean CBS years.

If it isn't true, and I knew it wasn't, why did you say it as a statement of fact?

Put another way - why shouldn't I just put you on ignore if you knowingly are just gonna spout things you know aren't true?

A Yankees only thread would be a solid bit. We should also have a Lakers only thread and a Cowboys only thread.

They were a bad Jonathan India error away from getting swept by the Reds who have been famously ass on a butt this season. My assessment - the Yankees are total frauds. FRAUDS!

Fire them all. They suck. The season can't end soon enough. They'll be lucky if they win the Series in only 6 games.

Either way, we're pretty sure that some kind of way we're getting the Jungle Kats on an NFL field pretty soon...

I took this when they visited the Breen Bay Blizzard in af2 years ago
EDIT - My 20 year old son asked when this was. Thanks to Arenafan, I found it. May 18, 2007

The Packers haven't worn the all white in 2 years. I wish they wore it again.

No. It isn't better than our regular 'road' uniform and should never see the light of day again.

The Yanks are still 14 up in the division with the Astros being the inly team in the same realm record wise in the AL. Yeah they’ve cooled off this recently but this is literally their first “slump” of the year, which is still 5-5 in last 10, plus the Al-Star break is coming right up.

The Astros are still the only team that scares me, not worried about much else.

But they've lost their mojo. They suck since last Friday. All is lost. Fire them all.

Acrisure sounds like something you would do for a Create-A-Team in Madden.

I personally would have went with Primanti Bros. or PNC Stadium or something like that. Keep it with a Pittsburgh company... although if I had my way, it would become Ligma Field.

I'm not sure how this is so hard to understand. Maybe it isn't and people are just whining about a name change. Mike Florio said it best:

NFL teams are in the money-making business, and they sell the stadium naming rights to the highest bidder. And sometimes the highest bidder is a business with an awkward-sounding name like Acrisure, rather than an iconic local brand like Heinz.

The Orioles, playing in arguably the toughest division in baseball, are two games below .500, currently sitting at a 7-game winning streak, and sit only 3 games behind the second wildcard spot.

I hope Buster Olney is somewhere eating his own :censored:.

I'd love to bookmark this post for late August/early September. Not that there's anything wrong with it, but that you're getting all bat-poop crazy at this stage in the season over a perceived slight of your team. Then it's justified. now it's ... not.

I could nitpick some of the kerning and spacing issues going on with that but...as anniversary patches go, that one is pretty nice, for as simple as it is.

Sure - it's also sort of mind-numbingly WFT (or WTF, not sure which is more appropriate) at this point in the franchise's existence. Maybe just let this anniversary pass quietly?

I own a 2010-13 Oilers replica home jersey and I was wearing it when I wrote that. The blue on the shirt looked  lighter than the value that is on that site. It's also a different shade to the blue on the crest. The colour matching on that shirt isn't the best - as well as the different shades of blue, the orange for the cuffs + yoke, crest + and reebok logo, collar and the centre and hem stripe are all different shades.

It would be surprising to me if Tampa Bay, Toronto, Edmonton and Vancouver (well, not the first two) all used the same shade of blue during the aformentioned time period, but that might just be me. If someone could post a pic of all four of those jerseys in the same picture to show the colour similarity, that would be great.

I do use the site a lot to choose colours, just that moment threw doubt into my mind.

But unless your monitor is properly corrected to show colors as they actually are, and unless all of those jerseys are present at the same time in the same lighting, you don't know anything in terms of whether or not they are the same color.

Thanks for the response - I was genuinely curious.

I would imagine per-game streaming would only be available for out of market games, just like Sunday Ticket works now.

Can you do per game with DirectTV? You're going to have to show me where that is available.

Fun fact from the USFL Championship Game - these guys were there.

Good point - I did see them in background shots at times while watching the game.

Maybe there is hope. I'd be stunned if the NFL reached out to one over the other spring league, though.

I said a couple of years ago I'd love to be able to pay $5 per game to watch the Buffalo Bills without having to commit to the entire league. I think we're getting close to that reality (though I think the number per game will likely be closer to $10 because the NFL knows it can get it).

But putting the NFL on PPV is a weird reality I wasn't really prepared for. And crazy they'll still get $$$$ in OTA contracts as well.

As I understand it, they have assured the traditional broadcast partners (FOX, CBS, NBC) that prices won't come down to the point that they (FOX et al.) won't risk losing viewers to this service.

Translation - it will likely still be an all or nothing option.

The Eagles have 100% control and sign off on everything.

This will likely be the issue for all fields that are NFL-controlled. Unless the NFL has a stake in a spring league, they are, IMO, unlikely to grant the use of their facilities.

A tarped off field won't look as bad as this if they're getting 25,000 to 30,000 a game.

Right - but why would they get 25-30000 per game? I think a more realistic figure is maybe 10000. If attendance is going to grow, it isn't going to go from the numbers in Birmingham (even those when Birmingham was playing) up to 25-30K overnight.

@infrared41 said that he encountered people from Philadelphia that made the trek down to Alabama for the championship game, and that blows my mind, as I wouldn't bet that 19 out of 20 people here have even heard of this team.  I believe him and take his word for it, but it just really surprises me.  Maybe they worked it into part of a larger trip and were like "hey, why not make a pit stop in Alabama and see this game", I'm struggling to wrap my head around that.  I hope this succeeds, as more football is better than less football, but we'll need at least a year in the home cities before really being able to judge.

If they went to Alabama, they missed a good game. It was in Canton, Ohio 🙂

(also, I must have been completely obsessed with him, because as soon as I typed "K" in the search bar, "Ken Anderson" was the top hit.)

Hey guys - Ken Anderson is a semi-finalist for the Senior Division of the Hall of Fame (or something like that).
