  1. I originally went with the full body Barrel Man there (I love that logo) but all the small details got swallowed up in the pinstripes. You might be right, I should just flipflop the two logos.
  2. I get that. I originally made it red because I was considering stripe-less jerseys at home, and that little splash would be the only red. I later added the two red sleeves stripes, but didn't change the red NY for whatever reason.
  3. Most of the people that have seen this aren't too sure about the orange, but I'm stubborn about it. I always liked the brown/yellow/orange color scheme for the Padres, but I lean more towards the brown/gold. My solution was to go with a LA Dodger-like front number. That's the only place red shows up on the Dodgers' uniform, and I love it there too.
  4. OK, so here are the Brewers and Padres, which finishes off the entire MLB. I actually feel like both of these teams made major upgrades when they changed last year, but both dropped the ball a bit and the same ways. The navy the Brewers went with is inferior to royal blue, for them anyway. And the Padres brown is nice, but still a little darker/duller than I would've used... it's like they're still just a bit embarrassed by the fact that they're wearing brown.
  5. So, anyway, Here's the Yankees. It's true that the whole idea of "updating" the Yankees seems pretty dumb, but then I thought since I'd already done the Tigers, Cardinals, and Dodgers, why should the Yankees be any different. Plus it gives me the opportunity to remove the pointless white trim off the road uniform, giving them a look that literally no other team could get away with. The all-navy is just a lark... sue me.
  6. I haven't added anything to this thread in a while because I kind of felt like I'd run out of teams to do. I did the entire MLB except for the Yankees, Mets, Padres, and Brewers. I skipped the Padres and Brewers because when I was working on these they had both just changed to new uniforms that I generally really liked. I skipped the Yankees because... they're the Yankees. What kind of updated concept is anybody going to give the Yankees? And I don't know why I skipped the Mets. So anyway, I'm back to finish off those teams, just to complete all the majors. Starting with the Mets...
  7. This is one of those classic things you point out to your friends and everyone turns to look at you like you're crazy.
  8. That's how I've always felt about that mythical teal-flake helmet. It's like people fell so i love with the idea of it that everybody failed to notice that you really couldn't see it. Every once in a great while a perfectly timed photo would turn up where you could almost kinda see a bit of teal sparkles. Hardly worth getting worked up about IMO. The Jags' teal-flaked helmet goes on the list with the Cowboys 90's double-star jerseys, and those Patriot jerseys with the peek-a-boo vertical bands... uniforms that keep getting these wistful call backs, and I'm continually confused as to why.
  9. This was the picture from the thread about this helmet, apparently from the early 70's... So, I thought I'd take a wild guess about what the back of the helmet looks like, and what those colors might be. And I guess what weird uniform would go with it. And, surprise!, it turns out weird...
  10. Now that you've posted it, I remember see that picture before, but I'd forgotten it. Seeing that, the prototype helmet probably uses the royal blue also.
  11. Was there ever a royal version of that logo? I thought it was always white.
  12. Weird. Colors in old photos are always tricky but that looks like navy, red, and... I dunno, old gold?
  13. No, not the big red shapes... The small stripe in the center... What color is it?
  14. Any guess as to what color that center stripe is supposed to be?
  15. I loved the Jags first uniform at the time and it's still probably the best they've ever looked, but I don't know if I'd still be thinking that if they had been wearing it all these years. I think it's a bit too 90's to work just as it was today. I could see a slightly simplified version working. For me, the new logo is an upgrade (don't know if that's an unpopular opinion) and the current number font is awesome... my favorite of the new "block with a twist" fonts we're getting. Plus, my current design crush is single layer numbers, but I don't know if that'll last for me. I'd keep the current uniform as a jump off point, get rid of the black jerseys and pants, change the white jersey's spikey elements to teal, add some teal stripe/spike to the pants, and be done. After some of the garbage we've gotten on the past decade "too simple" is not a criticism I'm ready to make.
  16. Although it's obviously true to say the Panthers have stuck with the same look since day one, it's hard for me to see them as a team that hasn't messed with their uniforms. The constant mixing and matching of all those stupid combinations ruins the overall aesthetic IMO. Burn all the pants but gray and they good to go.
