  1. I don't know if MO is deregulated, but you may be able to choose your supplier, even if you can't choose the utility company. For example, PECO is our monopoly energy company, but I use NRG for supply because they always offer promo rates that are better than PECO's default rate. You can also choose "clean energy" companies etc. NRG actually bought the naming rights to the subway stop by the stadium complex. I believe other energy suppliers also advertise all over the place here Doesn't invalidate your point though. FWIW, the Flyers power plays have been the "PECO Powerplays" for at least 30 years.
  2. I really wish they’d change the name to “most outstanding player” - in ALL sports. It does hurt you if you’re on a totally stacked team like Hurts is, because unless you’re following every game like a local fan would, it’s tough to assess his value until he’s hurt. Either way, there’s arguments for either to win, so I don’t feel like either would have been “screwed”. Ultimately, Hurts’ injury lost it for him (if you follow Vegas odds, which are typically indicative of who will win). But no MVP has won a Super Bowl since Kurt Warner in 99 (hard to believe!)
  3. Haha now the 49ers kicker is getting in on the crying act. To a man, they're the saltiest losers (that didn't get beat by the refs).
  4. I'm old enough to have seen every one of Jordan's championships, as well as his years coming up short to the likes of the Pistons. But I never got to see him live and in person. I have seen Lebron live and in person (several times, including from super up close.) Lebron is the more talented/gifted/athletic player. He's the best "basketball player" I've ever seen. All things being equal, he can do things that Jordan couldn't. If we're talking pure talent, it's Lebron. However, all things aren't equal, and Jordan is just a winner, whereas Lebron is not as mentally tough and simply doesn't quite have the same level of killer in him. If I was building a team to win one game, I would choose Jordan. All the good things people have said about Lebron are true - he single-handedly carried teams to the playoffs on his back, whereas Jordan always had Pippen, Grant, eventually Rodman, and a host of other talents. But Lebron also had Wade, Bosh, et al, then eventually Davis and whoever else along the way. Lebron can do things effortlessly that Jordan simply couldn't (though Jordan always put in the effort to close whatever gap there was.) Passing for example - Lebron could make passes with the flip of a wrist with his eyes closed that nobody else - not even Magic - could ever do. Jordan can get the same job done, but had to work harder. But that's fine. So two things can be true - Lebron can be the better player, while Jordan is the better winner. I'll choose winning. Also any top x list that doesn't include Wilt is ridiculous. They literally changed rules and had to change the shape of the court just to stop him.
  5. A good number of ballots didn't even have Hurts in the top 5 - and the Eagles were 14-1 at the time the ballots were taken (per what I heard on radio - haven't confirmed via real news sources.)
  6. Right. Otherwise you'd see more IRing even if it's only a couple-week injury. Would have been worse when IR was the whole season, but I think that's the spirit of the rule. Coaches are always going to want more. Give them 46, they'll want 47. Give them 53, they'll want 60. IIRC, it used to be 45 + emergency QB, and if you put him in, then QB1 and QB2 were officially done for the day. Then they made it 46 and said "use it however you want". It's totally on the teams. For a regular season game, then sure - don't use a 3rd-string QB and if 1 and 2 get hurt, then figure it out later and come back next week. But for a game against the best DL and most sacks in the league, with QB1 being a rookie, it would probably have been wise to have a QB3 on the roster since there's no next week. I'm not saying it's a no-brainer, because you're probably Fd either way, and it's unlikely they would have put up enough points regardless, but it was still a choice that they consciously made.
  7. I really like CMcC and think he's an elite player (hot take, I know), but he comes off really dumb here. They DO LET YOU HAVE A THIRD QB. They ended the emergency QB thing, and expanded the roster to accommodate. Teams consciously choose to not use that spot for a QB. That's on the coach. Maybe they should change the rule and require an OL to block a DL, then we're not having this conversation.
  8. I remember back in ‘04 when Eagles made it, they ran out of Eagles jerseys so they used white Raiders jerseys and applied the eagles numbers and wordmark. The giveaway was the lack of cuff trim. So this has been an issue for nearly 20 years, across multiple vendors.
  9. Don't know who this, but local scribes have linked the Sixers to Noel (intentionally or not, arguably the first player drafted as part of "the process")
  10. Which baffles me. How can a team called the 49ers not wear gold? It's not the same argument as "well there's no navy bears or green eagles".
  11. If it's "4+1", and you're not getting your +1 till 2024, why can't you keep 5 in 2023? Not that I want anyone to have 5, just seems a little arbitrary.
  12. Jeff Fisher peaked as Buddy Ryan's defensive coordinator in Philadelphia. Maybe had he gotten the HC job instead of Rich Kotite he could have won a SB with that incredible defense, but 'twas not to be.
  13. When the 2022 season script was released, they knew they'd be in the game and wanted to modify their wordmark so as to avoid a disaster like LII. I just wish I could see the last page of the script.
  14. Some of these are neat. Really disappointed in the Phillies.
  15. IIRC, they were actually considered regular season, and stats counted towards regular-season stats.
  16. In spirit, a game at the end of the regular season that determines what team makes the playoffs and what team doesn't is a "playoff" game, even if it's not treated as such from a statistical standpoint because they're not part of the "NBA Playoffs". Regarding the play-in: "The NBA Play-In Tournament takes place "after the regular season and before the first round of the playoffs," per NBA.com. Play-In Tournament stats can't be applied to the regular season because it has already concluded, but they also aren't added to postseason totals because Play-In teams haven't officially qualified for the NBA Playoffs. So, where can one find Play-In Tournament statistics? On NBA.com, stats are broken down by "Season Type." Under that filter, numbers can be sorted by preseason, regular season, playoffs, All-Star and Play-In." So the NBA uses "postseason" and "NBA Playoff" interchangeably for statistical purposes, even though by the dictionary definition, the play-in games occur "post season", and are a playoff of their own, separate from the official NBA Playoff. So they are postseason games, but not NBA postseason games, and they are a playoff, but not the official NBA Playoffs.
  17. Curious - how do you store these in some way where it's easy to find whichever one you're looking for? I'm gradually accumulating caps (not nearly 170) and already find it difficult.
  18. Here's a couple example of that. I think one reason why there's not as much hatred for the swoosh and GE (I don't recall hearing the level of hate for GE that I did for other advertising patches) is that those logos are so recognizable on their own that they don't stand out, since our brains instantly recognize them and don't get distracted by them or have to spend any cycles figuring out what it is, like they have to do with the Crypto patch. Obviously the GE blends in better (and in this case, almost looks like a memorial patch for someone with the initials GE). It is a little less intrusive, since teams regularly had anniversary patches or memorial patches or something that would be in their colors anyway - but it still shouldn't be there, and is still a second ad. Another example that doesn't quite work as well (mostly because of the wording, without which we'd have no idea what the ad was for.)
  19. It's not whether I like it or not, it's the refusal for some people to understand that it is and advertising patch and not something that has any more right to be on the uniform than the actual team marks. Obviously the Loves patch is more noticeable, but 1) you picked an extreme example, and 2) we're just so used to the swoosh that it kinda blends in - but that doesn't make it any more or less of an advertisement.
  20. It's not terrible, but it wouldn't surprise me if their awful endzone in LII was partially responsible for them wanting something more scalable. Theirs was among the worst of all time due to the stupid template that the SB now follows.
  21. Was unable to find the first proposal of the "gorilla rule" (which I think started in my NFL plan, but eventually did make it to MLB and Soccer), but this made me chuckle:
  22. The Yankees lost the benefit of the doubt years ago when they gave in to the "special event" cap nonsense, then the uniform advertiser. They used to be a team I envied because of how much they cared about and protected their brand, but now they're no different than anyone else.
  23. Not sure if I should be flattered, or get my lawyer on line 1. My lawyer:
