mac
I know a lighthouse makes sense for the Islanders but they ripped that idea off of the blue Jackets.

jkrdevil
It looks like the all star game might be making a few trips to the NYC metro are in 5-6 years as it seems both the Devils and Islanders are getting new arenas.
Shmee
As a local hockey fan, I must say that this is an awesome idea. I also read about it in today's paper, but the websites give a little more info than the paper did. Anywho, the Coliseum right now is a junk pile. The build is old, small, and surrounded by nothing but parking lots. The only thing that's really good about this arena is that there are no bad seats. No matther where you're sitting, you have a great view of the ice. And since the plan is to remodel the inside of the building rather than build something entirely new, AND Build new buildings around, they'll be preserving the best parts and eliminating the worst.I hate the Islanders, but I love Charles Wang's plan here. Snowcap30
i pass the Collisium everyday bc i go to school straight up the block from there. 2 minutes walking distance. it is a pile of junk. the parking lot has weeds growing everywherei think this would brring in more revenue for isles and with the Isles having good teams lately, this would be an attaction for LIplus, i live 15 mins away, so ill go to Isles games all the time (but i wont lose my love for the Devils)

schlim
With the NHL on strike, does this mean the WHA will plan on moving the defunct Quebec Nordiks to Long Island to become the New York Eye-landers?And didn't the N.E. Patriots first incorporate a lighthouse in their stadium design, despite being over 35 miles from the nearest coast?

scooter13
If any really cares, the "rip-off" of the Blue Jackets is that Nationwide Arena has a tower with a light that is only lit during game nights. The light shines straight up into the air. Phil
That is a slick looking project. The lighthouse is a cool idea, although it'd be better if it looked like an old school lighthouse. But a sweet looking venue nonetheless.
