Swiss
I think the Olympic Stadium will be demolished but not in an immediate future. The Montréal Allouetes have the Percival Molson Memorial Stadium. But the puzzle will be the place for a sure and future minor league baseball team for Montréal. So I think the Olympic Stadium will be its home for a while until a new and smaller ballpark is built. the_cynic
Why put a minor league team on Montreal? Why would any of the people be interested in it? Frenchie
Love the Expos, Minor will not cut it in Montreal...Montreal needs Champions, The Als have been fielding a good team for the last few years, wait 'til Calvillo is gone and the team tanks...They may need an even smaller venue...Unfortunately for real sports fans, if you don't wear Bleu-Blanc-Rouge with a C-H on your chest, your chance of survival in Montreal are minimal. As for you real question: the Big-O.I'd bet they'll keep it around and make some sort of theme aprk with it, too bad the Casino is already built... @Frenchie_TO Owner of the Rochester Americans of the MLH Owner of the Toronto Frenchies of the GCFHL6
Swiss
Why put a minor league team on Montreal? Why would any of the people be interested in it? Simple. There are some baseball fans. That is a market for baseball although it's small.I believe Organized Baseball will resurrect the Montréal Royals (the same team of Jackie Robinson). So Montréal baseball fans will have a team near home. That situation is like the Québec Nordiques... they abandoned Québec to go to Colorado (now the Avalanche) and NHL gave Québec a minor team. Cyclopsis Joe
Hey, the worst thing they could do is turn down a minor-league team.Evansville, Indiana was gonna get a minor league team..the Waves I believe (Georgia Waves I think..)..They wanted a new riverfront stadium, gonna be real nice..and some jerkoff who owned the land wouldn't sell it to them, so they abandoned it.Idiots...then they wonder why downtown is crumbling. robbman21
Although I dont know who would play there-as the Als have their own place now-I dont think they should tear it down.To me it's a monument of sorts since it WAS built for thr 1976 Olympic games.Forget all of the roof problems that followed and prevented it from ever being as it was designed to be.Even though it was built in the 70's it still has a very unique look to it's superstructure and is really unlike any other stadium in the world and to me has never looked dated such as American ballparks like Riverfront,Busch,The Vet,or Fulton County Stadium.I think something should be done to preserve it on some way although I have no idea what and no better arguement as to why. Swiss
To me it's a monument of sorts since it WAS built for thr 1976 Olympic games. Man, the city of Atlanta had an Olympic Stadium, torn down the old Fulton Stadium and... after? The 1996 Olympic Games finished and the Olympic Stadium was remodeled as an exclusive baseball field. Nothing from that ballpark reminds me that it was an Olympic stadium.BTW, 1996 Atlanta sucked. I loved 1992 Barcelona, 2000 Sydney and 2004 Athens. CC97
Montreal would be an excellent city for minor league baseball... Yeah, but it wasn't why I said 1996 Atlanta sucked (of course, the lousy terrorist attack was lamentable and pathetic).I didn't like 1996 Atlanta because of various items:- Opening Act was tasteless and unemotional.- Closing Act also was tasteless and unemotional.- There aren't many feats to remember forever.- Atlanta stole the 1996 Olympic Games from Athens. Athens looked for to make the Games to commemorate its Centenary.- The Games' mascot was an abort.- The Games' logo was uninspired.
