Here are the finalists, in no particular order...

Design Justification:

None supplied

Judges comments:

Pluses: Clean and excellent craftsmanship. Typography is well thought

out/effective. Logo doesn't compete with the wordmark but compliments

it and works well alone. Applications nicely done and functional,

especially the business card and shirt.

Minuses: $ is too obvious a symbol for a finance company in my

opinion. Use of gold and black to us connotes jewelry more than

finance. Don't like the large watermarked logo on the letterhead.

Advice: Maybe a smaller watermark behind the address info at the

bottom of the letterhead to carry over the design element from the

business card. Color choice could have been better.

B

Design Justification:

The use of the pyramid in the Zaken Consulting logo was one of

symbolism. Being that Zaken wants to focus on financial planning of

recent college graduates, I used imagery that would make potential

customers think of money.

Generally, pyramids invoke the thought of the Great Pyramids in Egypt,

which are known for their treasures and gold. Also, the pyramid used

will be recognized as similar to the one found on the back of the US

dollar bill, which is a symbol of strength and durability. The color

scheme also was utilized to make viewers think of currency.

Judges Comments:

Pluses: Clean and excellent craftsmanship. Colors are a safe choice

for finance. Typography is effective but not exciting. Logo doesn't

compete with the wordmark but compliments it and works well alone.

Applications nicely done and functional, especially the business card

and shirt. Money symbol not as blatant as the $ and the pyramid

implies growth, growth a positive theme for a finance firm.

Minuses: Awkward transition to B&W. Tilted logo on

the back of the business card has to go or be used consistently. Logo

is big for the letterhead.

Advice: Tighten up your typography and size

relationships on the applications. Overall nice concept package.

Judges Comments:

Pluses. Clean and excellent craftsmanship. Colors are a safe choice

for finance. Typography had some thought put in it. Logo doesn't

compete with the wordmark but compliments it and works well alone.

Dutch rose theme is abstract enough not to connote Holland but gives a

nod to the company name origin. Lots of creativity in the

applications. Functionality is kept in tact. Flower image can also

invoke growth a positive theme for a finance firm.

Minuses: Theme comes close to not working out. Not a whole lot of

negatives. Too be nitpicky, hierarchy on the business card should be

addressed. The phone numbers compete with the name.

Advice: Strongest overall, besides minor tweaking in

information hierarchy. This is by far the most complete overall

concept. Nice inclusion of the shirt being worn.
