Chazberg
While attending the Sox-Yankees game last night, I realized that no one on the team I'm aware of wears their socks up, and furthermore that I can't remember a single Yankee in the post-stirrups era wearing their socks up. The only guy on the current roster I could think of that might is Dotel, but he hasn't played at all this year. So is this another one of the Boss's rules to further make his team into a bunch of souless drones? Or am I mistaken? charles-noerenberg.com

Chazberg
Ah yes, Soriano slipped my mind. On a side note, Bobby Abreu has to have the worst fitting pants in the majors-they're way too long and just all bunched up at the bottom. Get a new tailor Bobby. This goes for Manny Ramirez as well. charles-noerenberg.com
FiddySicks
This is one trend I just cannot figure out. When I played ball I always wore my pants up with my socks because it was more comfortable. I just cannot figure out why its so unpopular in the game today. Its comfortable, looks good, and its cooler than wearing the pants down. I especially wish more Cardinals wore their socks like this. I'm still playing (albeit softball, not baseball), and wear my pants LONG (no socks showing at all) because1) it's more comfortable2) I have short legs, and it looks less bad!To each his own... dannyf113
orlando hernandez always wore his socks up, and i guess that makes him the last full time yankee pitcher (2004) to wear his pant legs up ... im sure there have been times where other "fill-in" yankee players have copied this style, but no full time players over the past year and a half have worn their pant legs up
Gothamite
I hate the long-pants look. They don't look like ballplayers.Baseball pants look goofy when they come that low. Football players wouldn't play in long pants, neither should baseball players. The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog. When I played in high school it was a team rule that you wore you pants down. The coaches thought it looked better and for me personally, with my hairy legs I couldn't deal with having socks pulled over them. With my pantslegs down to my shoes I could push the socks down to my ankle and noone would know. I always found the no sock look to be way more comfortable than the other way around. Plus I always felt like a little leaguer or an old timey ball player from the 20's when my pants were pulled up.
BBM
Scott Brosius, Clemens, and Pettitte all wore their socks up at some point too. There's been a few guys over the years , but not many.
nybatt
a couple notes about the yanks... bubba stopped wearing his pants high mid-season last year.. never once this season... much to my disappointment...this season there have been only TWO, that's right 2, occasions where yankees have shown any sock at all..the first was third base coach larry bowa who wore mid-calf pants at toronto one afternoon... the other was john damon wearing knee-high pants at home against the A's the weekend the yanks were swept....what a terrible disappointment to a big yankee fan (me) that not a-one player, manager, or coach shows any sock... for a traditional, no-nonsense team steeped in tradition.. they are blowing it big time.....joe torre used to wear stirrups and sanitaries back in the late 90's.. AND show them.. now he is almost down to the ground... pitching coach ron guidry wears the faux-stirrups popular in the late 80's.... . another quick note on torre... since he began wearing a knee brace on his right leg he actually shows a bit more sock... I was in the bronx last month.. sitting close enough to speak to the players during warm-ups.. and melky cabrera wore his pants at knee height... unfortunately he put his "pajamas" on for the game... due to the language barrier I couldn't ask him what was up.... the yanks do not have a "rule" about their pants... even though a knee-high pant rule does exist in ALL their minor league teams... weird to see everyone looking good in the minors and then in their PJ's as grown men..nybatt"ny giants uniforms... simplistic excellence"
nybatt
another quick note... for "mac2"....as a high school baseball coach, I actually have a team rule that pants MUST be worn at least mid-calf... preferably to the knee.... we wear stirrups and sanitaries as well... almost 100% of the team goes knee-hight...the players love it, especially with the whole team looking "uniform"... its quite an appearance.... looks old-style...nybatt"ny football giants uniforms.... simplistic excellence"
