Badge Man
Why does USC have a bye week every year but other teams don't (as far as I know)?
KevinMcD
Because they are scared of playing Applachian State???? It may be that the Pac-10 doesn't have a championship game, so they have an extra week to play the 12 games.
DEAD!
Well, going by a brief glimpse of the schedule USC (and the rest of the Pac 10) end their year on Dec 1, while many, if not most, of the other schools play their final game the week before. I saw, I came, I left.
rams80
Why does USC have a bye week every year but other teams don't (as far as I know)?Ummm....most College football teams, to my knowledge, have bye weeks. It's just that the Big Ten's bye week is at the end of the season. HedleyLamarr
It may be that the Pac-10 doesn't have a championship game, so they have an extra week to play the 12 games.Bingo.College football teams have to play their entire pre-bowl schedules within a 14-week span. Which means, those schools in conferences that have Championship Games have to play their 12-game schedules within the first 13 weeks, so the Conference Championship can be played on the 14th week. Chuck717
Well, USC's bye may cost them a spot in the polls. After seeing how LSU destroyed Va. Tech, they would have my vote for #1.
Drew22
Gah. I didn't think anyone had bye weeks this early, so I started Booty in my NCFA league. Eagles/Heels/Dawgs/Falcons/Hawks
OnWis97
Big Ten teams used to have byes--with an odd number of teams, there was little choice. But now that they play 12 games, they usually fill their bye week with an extra cupcake. Personally, I'd rather see the Big Ten have two bye weeks (one for a cupcake and one for a real bye) and extend their season a week. They are done way to early.
