NBA Uniform Changes 2008-09

They're not airport references, although they may be what you see on the arrival/departure screens. They are urbanisms--derived from the people of the cities. ATL is very popular in Atlanta, even before the release of the movie 'ATL'. PHX simply sounds like Phoenix, its cool.

The only other team in the league it may make sense for would be NYC. All though, I don't think the Knicks would submit themselves to that. The Hornets could pull off 'NOLA' if they really wanted to, which i doubt. (The ASG game alt logo with NOLA was awesome though). None of the other teams in the league would ever use the three letter terming. It's just not feasible.

Actually I think the Kings could pull it off. Sac is a really common "Urbanism" in this area.

So is "Cowtown", from what I see, presently being in the vicinity of central/north Califoolya. :P

(How can I be 15 miles from the Pacific Coast and yet still look around and see nothing but MOUNTAINS and cows all over the daggone place? I see enough hills and mess back east! It is some nice scenery out this way, though.)

What city?

I do believe Vacaville, CA is the actual Cowtown. Vaca is cow in spanish.

I live there.

Having said that, outside the ATL and NYC (since PHX already carries that "code" on their alt jerseys), about the only other "cool" mark I couls see popping up on a jersey might actually be "305"--which ain't actually a word at all, but bear in mind that down south, we refer to the region we from by area code QUITE frequently--or at least we do in FL. (For those who still tryna catch up..."305" is the area code for "Miami".) However, having said that, one could imagine the confusion that could come from seeing "305" across the chest of a basketball jersey with a jersey number up underneath it.

(Oh--and if the Sonics relocate, I wouldn't be too surprised to see an "OKC" 3rd/alt pop up at some point down the line.)

BUT...this IS all just one man's opinion...my two rusted Lincolns.

i could see OKC in the future too, but 305? i thought the NBA had a rule against having numbers on the jersey outside of the players number? didn't they stop the 76ers from puting "76ers" on the front of a jersey? could be wrong.

If you even want to call it a "city", Jolon...it's about, oh say, 30-something miles south of somewhere around here.

I look to the left, I see moos. I look to the right...I see more moos. (But then...don't good cheese come from happy cows...and happy cows come from California???)

I think they'll end up using Oklahoma Sonics/whatevers instead of Oklahoma City Sonics/whatevers. If they do though, an OKC is an inevitability.

More than likely, it will be "Oklahoma City Sonics/________".
