It's here again, the greatest sporting tournament there is!

Good start for Wales and Ireland, England looking pretty shaky. Anybody following the tournament this year, and if you're not from these Isles (or France) who you going to support?

Will be ignoring it the same as I do every year -Rugby Union is just a waste of grass.

From what I understand, Rugby League is popular in Northern England, and Australia. Union is popular everywhere else. Is this accurate, or am I way off? Basically, I'm just curious about which of the two codes is most popular and where.

EDIT: My apologies for the hijack.

Union is popular everywhere else.

As in parts of Wales,Scotland,Ireland, the West of England,New Zealand and white South Africa?

Rugby League is the #2 spectator sport in England and Wales has just got it's first Super League franchise - the Celtic Crusaders.

In terms of attendance League is probably more popular than Union, but outside of the north of England Union is the more popular code. There is next to no interest in Scotland and Ireland, and in Wales Union will always be better supported. In England, while the Super League may have better attendance than the Premiership, it can't claim to capture the public's attention as much as the national team in the Six Nations.

And they're not too happy about that Crusaders franchise up here... :D

Then why would you spend time responding to a thread about a sport you hate?

I support France in the 6 Nations, but they've been disappointing since the last world cup. I expect them to beat Italy and Scotland, and hopefully they can beat England, but other then that a 3rd or 4th place finish seems to be in the cards for them.

Although I absolutely love playing rugby, I find it to be so confusing that it's nearly impossible to attentively watch. Although, playing it is just as confusing most of the time.

.

Because where I live I have to put up with the media BS about this minor pastime every fraking day and here I thought I'd be free from it.

Je suis avec toi, allez les Bleus tout le chemin...!!!

But, you are right... the Bleus have been hurt since the WC disaster. They must change their spirit refinding their best game.
